i bought a mg zeta plus a1 the other day, thinking it's about time i should build one myself. after seeing all the pics posted, it kinda puts me off knowing that i don't have all the tools that would make the kit look good. all i have is a borrowed toolkit (cutter, knife, etc), and a used gundam marker. i have a fg gundam which i assembled quite some time ago, it looked pretty awful... that's why i bought the mg, thinking it would look good just like in the pic =.="
now that i know that there are quite a no. of tools involved, can someone actually list out the price (and where to get em) for the things you've used when modelling your kit? This post has been edited by leng2: Feb 8 2010, 02:21 AM |

For a straight assembly, a decent hobby knife, sandpaper, gundam panel line marker + eraser will suffice. Gundam markers are for touching up the details but you're better off using a thin brush+paint for that purpose. http://gunpla-inochi.com/tools/ Read on regarding tools for basic modelling. QUOTE(golbeza @ Feb 8 2010, 01:56 AM) got some pictures of the FA Unicorn, » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Looks awesome but not practical. Why carry so many weapons when you only have two hands to wield them? And a direct hit from the back to the FA Unicorn would just detonate all the rockets he's carrying behind him and kill it in one shot. Actually, most MG kits carry a picture of the straight assembled version with decals applied without any painting whatsoever. Look out for it. ![]() QUOTE(leng2 @ Feb 8 2010, 12:15 PM) basically i have zero skills in modelling... i think i'll get another fg to test it out first... can i know where you guys get your airbrush, compressor, epoxy putties, coats, etc and how much do they cost? All the experts can be found here: http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/703675 But, i'd say that an FG is harder to paint and mod as the size is small and there's a lot of work to be done. A 1/144 HG or a 1/100 NG would be a better choice. QUOTE(golbeza @ Feb 7 2010, 02:06 PM) hmm, i'm not quite fond of the Robot Damashii series, never bought them, so i never knew thier articulations by hand. The Strike Freedom & Destiny are just sample display, not sure whether or not Bandai decide tos release em =\. Personally i prefer the GFF Cosmic Series of the Strike Freedom & Destiny Gundams I'm more interested in Robot Damashii becoz of it's articulation. To me, i think GFF have very limited articulation.By the way, just wanna ask everybody where do you guys get the chance to watch Gundam OO, Gundam Seed Astray & all those stuff? |
