Not only the logo, but the font is different as well. No more that Spide-Man font. And the new firmware uses the new logo and font at the introduction. It celebrates the arrival of this new Slim PS3, so our old fat PS3 will just have to follow. laugh.gif

Added on September 4, 2009, 9:51 amFinally just registered the MY PSN account. Didn't know now we can already buy stuffs in Ringgit Malaysia, just bought WipeOut HD and the new dynamic LittleBigPlanet dynamic theme.

We can also test download/upload speed now with the new firmware:

If yr PS3 is attached to yr network, it can stream from PC directly. Use TVersity, PS3 Media Stream and even Vuze. There are many guides online.

The PS3 cant read external HDD if connected to the USB. Tried.

It reads other files from thumbdrives easily (MP3, MP4, .jpeg, .png, Avi, m2ts... but not flv or mkv), u need to find them under their respective folder (ie Music, Video, Photos) under "USB Device".

The PS3 is really worth it, 1080p BD player, HD audio out, streams files from PC, and it plays games. All for less than 1300. After all, "It only does everything".... laugh.gif laugh.gif

Heard about that, luckily I don't have that game. smile.gif

Anyway, the PS3 can read external HDD via USB, just make sure it's FAT32 formatted, not NTFS. And those folder structure not really a must, just use triangle to display all then you should be able to browse. And MKV files can easily remuxed to MP4 container in 10 minutes.

yea... you need to click Triangle and select "display all" to view the contents of your external HDD (FAT32 format).. too bad cant read NTFS if not loads of stuff I can use my PS3 to watch.

So even if PC HDD is NTFS, PS3 can read it if they are all connected via a network?

Great, so that's a workaround for reading those mkv files bigger than 4GB.

That's true. Can also split the file if there's no network, many remuxing software provides this option. smile.gif

You can also stream media to the PS3 from any DLNA-compliant NAS that's connected to your home network WITHOUT the need to transcode from a pc/notebook. That means u don't need a pc/notebook to stream to the PS3. Examples of such NAS include Synology, QNAP, etc.

If not mistaken those NAS, such as Synology or QNAP are quite expensive, right? What is the cost like?

Yes, but I haven't tried. Don't think we can do that for MKV files? Only the formats that the PS3 can read right? hmm.gif

Cannot play mkv, is it because PS3 doesn't recognize that format?
