Read somewhere that Australian server will be costly to maintain, something about the telephone company there and the closest to Asian/Oceanic player might be Korea. But anything can happen, that was just some post by some guy in a forum if I remember correctly..

knowing ncsoft publishing games develop by american, from past experience, there won't be any asian server... sorry to say... actually i dont mind playing american server; your games should be running smoothly at 300ms ping....

yea, same goes for dota2, some aussie did mentioned that server rental can be quite costly there, but it depends as well

There were Korean servers in GW1

more importantly, there was taiwanese server. WOW is playable on Taiwan server without tunneling, and the same would be true for any other online game.

nope.. that was not korean server... just korean district.. more like world.. the physical server still located in USA

Odd, I'm pretty sure the latency was some 100ms lower in the Asian districts.

I also just signed up for the beta around 2 days ago. Been following the game for quite some time, wanted to try it also.

I hope the latency is the same as WoW.

Highly doubt there will be an IP block, they have already stated that they won't restrict anyone from playing. GW1 was pretty open to the world as well

The game is open to everyone in the world and are hosted in specific locations. There won't be any region lock or local publishers.
