Ah OldNewspaper, I think the XLS is good, if you want to keep track where you bought it, warranty info, and most importantly the Input voltage range, and estimated run time, so the next time when you have 100 lights like jwyj, then it is useful rclxub.gif

Ok about the "first Bright Side light", looks like you are very P60 liao wor, haha  laugh.gif

Can I add one more thing, if the P60 drop in has multiple mode, I love the Lumens Factory Style, which the Mode Switch need a quick on/off (flash) the light, say less than 0.6128 seconds  ( tongue.gif ), not 2 seconds, and it remembered the last mode (if it won't remember the Strobe/SOS mode is even better). So it makes it virtually single mode flashlight, good for ppl that like surefire styles (1 mode), but also suitable for emergency usage (strobe/SOS0) because, you can switch on and flash to the desire mode when needed.

Unlike some flashlight, that will switch mode when u on/off the light in less than 2 seconds, or some even 30 seconds. So sometimes when you are in the dark with low mode (say a Med, High, Low, Strobe, SOS light), you off then need to on it in seconds, it blast with strobe mode in max, ah, that is annoying.

Summary :
Low, Medium, High, Strobe, SOS (or any order with Memory Mode (Prefer not to remember the Strobe and SOS)
Flash (on/Off/on) in less than 0.6128 to switch mode

oh, hey, this is if every one agree lar. But for those need this (without the Strobe/SOS), you can always get a 3 Mode 3.7V LED Drop in from LumensFactory, since it is P60 compatible, Phylightsophy has it anyway.
*
getting tired of those non p60 host light.....p60 based is good for long term investment, more capable to do lego, more accessories choice, and the best part is the hugely available drop-in for it laugh.gif i was suggesting to pseudoblue [ our Mr. president ] that our first Bright Side's light should go for the Solarforce, cheap and good.

here's how the light looks like,

Guys,

about multimode vs single mode. If you have several lights and you seldom use it except for your favourite, soon you will forgot how to switch between those modes especially it is "hidden" (not like RRT1).

I like multimode but it is a "nice to have" function only. I always end up with single mode. (unless it's like RRT1, easy)
*
i only prefer 3 mode, low med high. nothing more or less and preferably with memory.... biggrin.gif

P60 is the most versatile but it has it's own issues. It's hardest to design a reliable P60 drop-in as there is a lot of design margins you have to follow. But then again, it is the best solution for an upgradable host.

You should use 6P/9P hosts, anodized in Type III, bored for 18605 and then you can custom engrave it. drool.gif

But the cost will be icon_question.gif

Hmm, I think it is not the solarforce that I have, this one it called a G2, I think it might be a clone Solarforce L2? (haha, L2 was a clone of surefore's 6PD)
Just like the Ultrafire, most of the ultrafire we got (from DX) are the clone of the Genuine UltraFire (which clones surefire as well tongue.gif )

try this one
http://cgi.ebay.com.my/Solarforce-BLK-L2-R...=item3efa053b74

ITC is the distributor of the solarforce, I think, and it may be also the owner of the solarforce.hk

(Ps: as the USD traded lower against RM, so the price of USD product are cheaper recently)

Yep, it's unique and design wise is quite nice.
But the shipping from Batt Junction will costs about USD25 la.. so, don't know its worth it or not. sad.gif
From what i read, it will always start with max. I don't know how long is the ramping time. Hmm.. all the nice light coming out.. wallet is going to suffer.

And there's a new light coming out soon AAA and AA... Mr Lite from China. http://www.mrlite.com/ Check it out. The cool thing is they can customise your light intensity level as well as mode(L-M-H or M-L-H etc). I think no one offer this service before, right?
Yea, we were thinking of using Mr.Lite for our LYN flashlight but not anymore. Going for something cheaper. Still, we're waiting for the review from CPF.

Your proton pro will cost more now with shipping, almost around RM200. Some suggestions, you can try the Preon Kit for AAA? We are still waiting for that. Pre-order is opened for Quark Mini by Polkiuj, maybe you can order the Preon as well.

Here's more suggestions, which I replied in previous post:

4Sevens Quark AA Tactical or Regular (Cree XPE-R2 WC/WD) - Buy from Polkiuj
*All 4 below can be bought from Gadgetworld2u. They have other NiteCore AA range as well.
Fenix LD10 with clip (1x AA - Cree XRE-Q5)
NiteCore EZAA Red (1x AA - Cree XPE-R2)
EagleTac P100A2 (2x AA - Cree XPE-Q5 or Q3 - Cool or Warm)
Olight T15 (1x AA - Cree XRE-Q5)

Philightsophy has EagleTac AA range as well. All these lights can get delivered to you locally.

Remembers last modes in 0.6128 seconds is very good. I like this UI. I understand the annoyance, hahaha

I know the guy via emai and ebay message, I have no idea they do the customized laser engraving, and they body is full of solarforce logo, we can only laser engrave at the head if use L2. FYI, they also have L2m, a single Cr123A L2 (shorter version of the 6P)

If we have the detail what we want, we could ask a quote, see how they response lor.

You can order anything. Hehe. But for locally available stuff (Fenix, Nitecore, Olight, etc.) please get from local dealers. Support them. Hehe.

What are you actually looking for Blackbird? If Proton Pro is for your collection then quickly buy it. What are you waiting for? If it's a user then I think there are better choices around.

Okay...newspaper and me was actually thinking of getting Solarforce to provide us without any of their engraving or only one side for their Logo and model. But I guess, that would cost even more? I was thinking if you can ask regarding that.

And, I'm not sure if there's a flat blank part on the other side or it is fully knurled like ET P100C2.

Another simpler option is just get the L2 as it is. Ask for their additional custom engraving price and what format of media they need for our design. I'm guessing it's either photoshop or illustrator format.

The engraving will have to be on the Bezel already. It will either be reading bezel up or bezel down, or sideways (will be smaller). Engraving are words only at the moment. I'll try to see if I can come out with a wording design. The contents will be:
LYN Flashaholic Community
The Bright Side

Any changes to that? Does it make sense?

Still no email reply regarding our local engraving co.

The engraving was on 2 flat part in the body, both were engraved with their logo. So maybe need to ask purposely not to engrave that part? Not sure about that.

FYI, that solarforce L2 has a very shiny blank anodized, some may not like it, though.

For the content, will it be better will more like a Malaysia level, like "MY Flashaholic"
well it will be great if it has nickname too:

I am asked a pal, he work in a company doing laser engraving, so will get his help. he estimated around RM10, but problem is the setup, because it is depends on the size, shape and the engraving surface (flat or not).

Wow..

Got a technical question for you guys.. it is also related to our P60 direction..

I have thermal concerns regarding P60 dropins at their turbo state. I notice there's not enough contact in between the dropin and the internal bezel wall, there's a gap and the springs are resting on its neck (correct me if i'm wrong). When tightened, it is well sealed with the o-rings, can the heat escape efficiently when there's a gap?

Looking at other flashlights, the quark AA, fenix LD, p100c2, vantage, have its LED soldered on the heatsink and it is part of the bezel. Air cooling during turbo mode is quite efficient. Another example, the M1X has a removable pill, but it's attached very closely to the outer body (screw in), making heat escape instantaneously.

What you guys think?

Hehehe~!

I've no experience with P60 but some people have mentioned sandwiching the gap with aluminum foil to help with heat management. Or do it Malkoff style.

Heat management is my concern for P60. =)

I dun like shiny anodizing. Prefer bead/sand blasted and matte but whatever goes. Reason: Shiny looks cheap. xD

Both lights have different UI and config that will meet different needs.

Fenix P2D or the new PD20 (XRE-Q5 or XPE-R2) UI are a simple reverse clicky, click to on, then soft press to change modes. Tighten bezel for Turbo modes. Only uses RCR123 and CR123 (3v range). Not sure can use 16340 4.2v Li-ION.

The Nitecore EZ123 or better, EX10 R2 is famous for their piston drive technology, variable brightness config. You can choose any level of brightness you wish and it remembers it when you switch it off. For tactical purpose, you can access the max and low mode anytime still. It can run on any 3v range battery or better 16340 Li-ION 4.2v.

Polkiuj might have an extra 4Sevens Quark CR123? Quark's UI is similar to the Fenix but offer moonlight and brighter than both PD and EX, and can run on 16340. Nice knurling and useful clip wink.gif
