is firmware 3.0 same as 3.01 3 as reported?

3.01 is optional. I think it only fix issues with certain games freezing, like Uncharted.

If it's optional then you can play online, go to PSN, etc without updating the firmware. smile.gif

Yup... 3.0 causes Uncharted to freeze while playing, and 3.01 settles that problem..... and just before Uncharted 2 is very soon due....

I dont have any BD freeze problems while using 3.0 nor 3.01...

have done some research when I was deciding between Sony360, Samsung 1600 and this one. Seems like the reviews gave LG's good rating, but mostly on par with the two I mentioned, but Sony does not have USB port while Samsung and LG do. The thing that separates LG from the other two is the pricing. LG's price has been steep and refused to go down - if you look at its brochure - it seems like they pride themselves with the design. But feature and performance wise, actually not much difference among these 3. Then you should look at the price, for the same quality of thing, you should not be paying more than you need to.
Can't compare the price with that in US - US people enjoy the best thing in the whole world. If you are not worried about any warranty issue, you should buy from US, anyway, this price is very very reasonable.

I hope it's not the ones from Sony The Curve. Last time I nearly bought one, but luckily I found it they were all Display sets. They just put the sign as 'Clearance Sale' without mention they were Display sets. Really misleading.

Only when I asked them to confirm it's new ones, then only they admitted they were all display sets repacked back into boxes.

Go ahead and buy. You could be getting a unit that has been previously lent to a DVD/Blu-ray shop and used for 8 hrs a day , 7 days a week for the last 6mths to a year biggrin.gif

If you want you can use your TV to enable full screen, but are you willing to watch a movie with everything elongated especially a long face biggrin.gif

Artificially full screen is possible through the Zoom functions but you have to get used to a vertically 'stretched' image and sometimes hidden subtitles (if you need any).

Well if you don't mind your movies cropped at the left and right edges good for you smile.gif . For me, widescreen movies are meant to be viewed widescreen, so I just put up with the black bars. You can miss a lot if you crop the edges which is quite significant.

Fyi, A lot of the players have the zoom function, which is what you are looking for.

Didnt know that. I will try again later to see the difference. Anyway my lcd 32" only, i feel that the black borders are much more apparent compared to larger lcd .

If you have a Panasonic BD60 I think the zoom function only applies to DVDs with original 4:3 aspect ratios. I might be wrong.

Anyway zoom functions are not really the same as upscaling. The quality is not really good. It's just like digital zoom vs Optical zoom in a Digital Camera.
