I just saw S360 in Sg's Comex yesterday - selling for S$399 and the offer was - get 5 BDs with just S$50.
That would mean : can get the player + 5 BDs with RM1100. (using a rate of 2.45).
That's how competition plays there - at the same time, Samsung's BD-P1600 was going for S$399, with free S$100 voucher of Gramaphone shops, Philips BD (gosh I can't remember the model)was going for S279 no frill, LG was a bit off - its BD370 was going for S$450 (salesman stupidly said free gift was a HDMI cable).
was deciding between sony and samsung and eventually I went for samsung as it has 2 USB port (1 for wireless and 1 for external storage). Tested it with King Kong, Transformers, the speed was way way faster than PS3. Tested MKV of phantom - picture was fine but no audio (had no time to analyse why yet), MKV of transformers - perfect, color is more vivid then that of I used HDX1000 and WDTV to play, MKV of the last samurai 720p, perfect, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon Remux with DTSHD, perfect.
Overall I am very satisfied with this entry level thing.

QUOTE(sychong @ Oct 1 2009, 11:26 AM) hi, anybody using this bluray player? any comments? LG BD370 just found out selling USD$150 http://www.gadgetsgear.com/av-1065836-B001...isc_Player.htmlthen brother MPYW saw at HN...list price RM1799. ai, what a big price difference. thks have done some research when I was deciding between Sony360, Samsung 1600 and this one. Seems like the reviews gave LG's good rating, but mostly on par with the two I mentioned, but Sony does not have USB port while Samsung and LG do. The thing that separates LG from the other two is the pricing. LG's price has been steep and refused to go down - if you look at its brochure - it seems like they pride themselves with the design. But feature and performance wise, actually not much difference among these 3. Then you should look at the price, for the same quality of thing, you should not be paying more than you need to. Can't compare the price with that in US - US people enjoy the best thing in the whole world. If you are not worried about any warranty issue, you should buy from US, anyway, this price is very very reasonable.

Those who got Samsung BD-P1600(A) - the latest firmware has been released on 30 Sep - can go and download it. The previous firmware was released early Sep to enable the player to view Youtube directly as well as updating the video format (MKV and MP4) that player can output. This latest firmware claims to improve the playback compatibility for some BD titles (though so far I have not met with any BD which it can't play...)

QUOTE(cursive @ Oct 12 2009, 01:10 PM) Any review about PHILIPS-BDP-3000 ? there are many reviews online but I think the most important part you need to know is that the USB port cannot be used to connect your external harddrive and play the files in the HDD - it is reserved to be used by BD Live only - but I have no idea if there is a new firmware to change that specs...
