QUOTE(macaroni @ Oct 21 2010, 06:01 PM) Hi.. sorry to hear the sad news, hope you already over come this incident. through ur explanation , we hardly tell what the cause that kill the poor robo. cause robo hardly fall ill or sick. may i know wht kind of brand of food do you bought for your robo? the vitamin , and bedding material tooI just bought a Roborovski hamster 6 days ago..its the cutest tiniest thing i've ever seen..i love it very much..but it died today.. It was fine early in the morning..but when i came back just now..it lay stiff and not breathing..im so heartbroken..i cried nonstop.. I dont know where i did wrong..i bought it a cage..bedding..vitamin to put into her bottle..hamster food..i even gave her soft steamed corn because i can see that she seldom eats and when she does..its not alot..i thought its cause she's super tiny and the pellets are hard..but even with the corn..she only ate very little.. But she's very active..always running here and there..i dont know why she just left me like this..i really love her so much..i always come back in the evening and play with her..at night too..i put her cage in a cool and shady area in my house too so she wont get hot..i even made her a house yesterday night using cardboard.. Is it cause its a new place for her?? And she's lonely?? Can mosquitoes kill her when they suck her blood?? Cause these few days there are many mosquitoes in my place..i really wanna know what went wrong..im really sad over this cause i did my best and i lover her so much..please help me.. =( for food to our robo i still prefer vitakratf , although it costly abit but for our lover pet robo spend much on quality food is a must. (but robo sometime is very picky on food) vitamin wise, go to pet shack and buy the vitamin LC-vit forte, which i notice my robo have a much more good appetite. while for bedding can buy the cat litter or the wood shaving lastly the soft steamed corn, make sure is just steam without adding any salt of butter like we human love to eat. but so far i try to give them steam corn but end up my robo ignore the food haha. the mosquitoes, i dont think it can kill the robo as they never stay quiet at 1 place. make sure your cage didnt get any direct sun shinning towards the cage, as this will end their live with heat stroke. |

regarding this > spray and shampoo, dont even bath the roboski, it will make it more worse, or fall sick easily, as roboski and all hamster they know hw to take care of them self to be clean.
used sand bath will do, they will love it to the max. to help them clear of their oil on the fur. powder wise as ur friend put on their hamster, this 1 i not very sure will cause breathing difficulty ma>< hv to do more study and find out more about powder usage on hamster, ill get bk to you if i do find any info. cheers hv a great weekend too =D |

QUOTE(macaroni @ Nov 4 2010, 04:05 PM) Hi!! woo such a nice story u share to us, really appreciate it, indeed they are the cuttest hamster among all, like fur ball. haha hope to see more picture of ur belove robo too. cheers. Just so you guys know..i bought 3 new Robos (after my poor little one died 6 days after i bought it) 2 weeks ago and they're just cute little adorable babies of mine!! I love them so much..its super fun to see them climbing up the tunnels and cuddling to sleep together..at times they even stack up on each other!! Hahaha..and yesterday i saw the funniest thing!! One of my hammy went to the highest part of the tunnel and it just curled into a ball and slept there..then another hammy crept up to it and pulled it and it went tumbling down like a ball!! Awww..they're so cute!! =D And they would make so much at night when im sleeping but i love them too much to care..i just continue sleeping and ignore the noise.. =P I bought a big cage for them and it takes me a lot of time to clean the whole cage and tunnels but i like doing it!! My dad was like "You spend so much time cleaning and taking care of your hamsters but your room is a mess".. =P Well..we always focus more on doing the things we love right?? Hahahaha.. =P Happy to share my hammy stories here!! =D They're my babies and i love them so so much!! When im stressed i just look at them and instantly i felt better..no matter playing or sleeping they're just cute little furballs of mine that brightens up my day.. =D Have a nice day everyone!! =D |

QUOTE(ske @ Nov 9 2010, 04:51 PM) I just bought these hamsters. I need some help here : hi ske, welcome to the hamster home. 1) can someone tell me what type they are? 2) the pet shop owner told me they are a pair, but the female is much larger than the male. Will the size be a problem during mating process? 3) i was told hamsters are active at night and they sleep during the day. But my hamsters always like to take a nap, day and night. Whenever they are not napping, they will be eating. Should I be worried that they are sleeping at night too? 4) these hamsters are not really friendly with each other, but so far there has not been any serious fight. They seems to be jealous of each other, especially the female. Since she is bigger in size, she always like to chase the male away from the dish bowl. How do I get them to be friendly with each other? 5) they always scratching their bodies. Is it normal or they need a bath? Since I'm new with hamsters, I need help from hamster-lovers here. Thank you in advance.[attachmentid=1876448] for your concern i bet macaroni already answer all with details d. no worry about ur winter white. to differentiate winter white and campbells is easy, as long you see a think black strip on their back, and the bottom part of their tummy will be white in color. and ww is more bullet shape compare to campbells, sometime pet shop will confuse it , but to compare this 2 breed just put them together you can see their difference. as long your hamster is active, and eating healthy no reason for you to worry, but for ww to fight with each others you have to monitor them for a while. if fighting do occur sometime bleeding may happen and is best to separate them too . bathing sand is good to give to our belove hamster, as this can help them to clear their oil on their fur. and stay clean always. just remember to make sure the cage is clean n water have to change once every 3 to 4 days, to prevent bacteria to grow or contaminate the water. any question u not sure feel free to ask . we will gladly to help out . cheers Added on November 9, 2010, 11:49 pm QUOTE(macaroni @ Nov 9 2010, 07:23 PM) Here are the okok shots of my hamsters!! =D Woooo! such a nice house you provide to your robo, sure they are happy with all the tunnels and space provided cheers. finaly can see ur picture d.Sorry ya if they look terrible..i suck at getting good shots with them.. =P [attachmentid=1876698] My hamster cage =D (This is the biggest i can get for my babies) [attachmentid=1876699] My hammies cuddling together in the house =D [attachmentid=1876701] Cutie pies sleeping =D [attachmentid=1876702] They nap in a row XD [attachmentid=1876704] Two on the wheel!! =D (I recorded the time when three of them were running on the wheel!!) never ever breed ww and campbell, as this will destroy each of their genetics, and some of the prone sickness may pass down to their next generation. but sadly to say some breeder do mix with it, untill we also cant differentiate which is which, so as a home keeper of hamster, if dont have the time to breed them ,pls dont breed it as the market ald hv their own supply d. unless accidentally that cant be avoided.
vitakraft so far is the most balance and healthy food for hamster, if u need postage, i think pet shack can manage for u, they do sell alot of hamster food, and treats. so far i get mine from them from cheras all the way to sunway, as their vitrakrat price is competitive and promotion too. this their link > http://www.petshack.com.my/ currently they doing promotion on the vitrakraft nature dinner. i ald bought 2 of it to stock up, going for another 2 this end of month hehe =D This post has been edited by JXplod: Nov 10 2010, 07:55 PM |

ya indeed , hamster is selecting in their eating habit, well that their nature actually, so once you fill up your food tray with vitrakraft hamster food, just left there, they will slowly discover the uneaten food, and will know that food will not be replenish if they didnt finish it up, i train my hammy this way. once i open the food tin box that i store my hammy vitakraft , you can see how excited they will become, jumping here n there hahaha. cute indeed
**NOTE, after 3 days or 2 days if the food still there, well we have no choice but to clear it. this is to keep the food stay fresh and safe for them to consume. ** so far i found that my hammy prefer the vitrakraft dinner, compare to other vitakraft food*** This post has been edited by JXplod: Nov 11 2010, 09:02 AM |

icic rm55 for this big cage really cheap. well tunnel 1 sure cost alot to be honest. but alot of space , the hamster will be happy, more room to roam.
to prevent the smelling, so far powder is not so advisable as powder pollen sometime can cause the hamster to sneeze or blockage, due to the chemical ingredient is for human skin, try buy to animal friendly. or you can purchase some fragrance that refresh the air in the house, it wont smell, i got 3 cage, so far dont smell much, as long there is ventilation going on , rather you close all the windows, Hope this help ^^ cheers |
