hi guys.my frd jz gave a a few weeks old baby hamster.....need ur guys hlp to identify wat species is it,i tried identifying using pic frm 1st page but nd u guys to confirm it
[attachmentid=1789146]
gonna get a wheel for him soon.....one active fella, keep running around

and tht water dispenser thing over thr....it make the hamster's fur a bit wet evrythg whn he goes over it,will it bring any harm?
i have a food cup in the the cage as well....but evrytime when he start digging around the bedding some of it will fly into the food cup...scare they will mistaken it as food
do i need to feed it some fresh food also other than the mixture food i bought?
The breed that your friend pass to you is called ROBOROVSKI hamster , i also own 4 of them at 2 different cages. Just buy a silent wheel as during the night thy are always active. With the wheel thy will be a happy hamster running around to burn their calories ^^
Regarding the water dispenser, no worry about that. if thy feel wet thy will clean them self up. it wont bring any harm , mine love to go near the water dispenser and play with it sometimes.
food cup in the cage if mix with bedding , is a common thing will happen with robo owner. They wont mistaken that bedding material as food, as they have a greater scent of food. =D
fresh food can occasionally introduce to the robo hamster for their food. Read more info on the 1st page of thread, as there are certain food you can feed and cant feed.
For fresh food, introduce a small portion . If too much will harm the hamster to cause diarrhea.
Hope my reply help u up ^^ feel free to ask anything if you are unsure.

may I ask where can I get these tunnels cheap?
there's an aquarium shop nearby which also sell hamster stuff only selling rm2 per piece but they ran out of stock, so I went to petsmore to check, it cost rm12-18..

wooo where is the aquarium shop that selling rm2 per piece. tht really cheap compare to out side shop. Petsmore or pet wonderland sure is expensive, as their rental place also a costly place. ^^ can wait for them to restock the tunnel and others hamster stuff too.. Share with us where is this shop location , so that every1 can have a better place to shop for their hammy

hey guys i'm new here. I have a pair of syrians but they do very well together , and fight occasionally (small fights) . I'm thinking of buying another WW and rear seperately.
One thing to confess, i've had a few hamsters before which passed away in a few months time. Only until i get this pair of syrians i realised that hamsters arent meant to be bathed as told by the shop owner. Man i wished i've known about this much earlier.
I hope i can learn more from u guys around here.
Hi david, welcome to the hamster thread. congrates of owning a syrians hamster. Sadly to hear your hamster that pass aways due to your own flaws. But no worry ,now you know that hamster doesn't need to bath, as they know how to clean their own self .
To make sure ur hamster fur stay shinny or reduce any oil , purchase a hamster bath sand. They will love it with the sand provided. ^^ any pet shop that sell hamster do sell this bathing sand, some even come with different flavor to suit your taste too.
Hope you have a happy hammy this time around ^^ cheers

, syrian hamster have to take cautions, as they are not socialized with others , even their own breed, if come across any fighting pls do separate them into others cage to ensure they wont fight till death.
