I wish they would increase the investment limit to RM 250,000 instead of RM 200,000K currently.
But there are ASW2020 and ASD. The return is not that much different unless the total investment is in Millions. Therefore i think the minor difference in the return is negligible and ASW2020 and ASD would be your next best alternative as soon as you have used up your quota in ASB.

Investment returns not much different???? ASB dividend for last year was among the lowest but still it was 8.55%.
Yeah. The difference ain't that significant unless your total investment is a huge amount. Therefore, an extra quota of RM50k isn't going to make a huge difference. Anyway, i now have both ASB and ASW2020 and i am happy with both.

Can I ask some question regarding the account for ASW 2020.
As a was a kid my parent's open an account ASW 2020 (Akaun Remaja).

1) Can I add or withdraw money from this account? Or still need my parents Signature to withdraw money?
The procedure is exactly the same as ASB. But unfortunately, i do not remember how it was like anymore since it was many years ago i turned 18.

Anyway, i am still using my original ASB teenage passbook that i've been using since 12. If i am not mistaken, i did go to Maybank to do something. Just go to any Maybank, CIMB Bank, RHB Bank, Pos Office or PNB Office and the staff there will advise you on what do you need to do.

What is good? Current FD rates for 1 year is about 3.6-3.7% and this will go up in tandem with BLR increase. So whats the point in taking loan and putting into ASB?
Current 1 year FD rate is around 2.80% - 3.30% only.

I agree. Doesnt it seem strange that there is no news on this?!  hmm.gif
How so ? Is this the first time you invested in any ASNB products ? Sometimes the dividend is only declared in the middle of the month and it's only 9/9/2010 now. May be after Raya they will announce the dividend.

Divided + bonus are credited into the account. By the way, not all ASB account holders are Malays. I am one such example smile.gif

I want to start my ASB. Where should i go?
Are you a Malay ? Or any other Bumiputra with English surname ? If you fall into either category, you can open the account at any Maybank, CIMB Bank, RHB Bank, ASNB or Post Office branches. If you're a Bumiputra with Chinese surname, you'll be advised to open the account only at ASNB office.

If i'm correct, this thing actually happen in the case of asw 2020 few years back where the non-bumi quota fully subscribed (49%) & there are lot of unsold bumi units (51%) still unsold (currently even bumi units sold out).  So this thing of unsold bumi, indians & others units floating where the chinese quota fully finish is normal....
Confirm still sold out ? As far as i know, there were many Bumiputra selling back their units to ASNB in the last few weeks. Me being one of them laugh.gif

Interesting development happening there.... bumi ppl selling asw2020...... maybe they got better offer in asb..... even i will sell the asw2020 for asb if not max 200k..... biggrin.gif
I think all Bumiputra in Malaysia will make sure their ASB is full first before considering other ASNB funds biggrin.gif

Anyway, there really were many Bumiputra selling their ASW2020 in the last few weeks. So i kind of doubt ASW2020 is still sold out now for the Bumiputra portion.

Could it be they are selling for raya? or putting to AS1M and thinking that they can get more dividend?
Some of us are cashing out the dividend to use for our daily expenses.

I see no reason for bumis to buy into ASNB if they haven't maxed out on ASB. For bumis who have maxed out on ASB and who has also bought into ASNB, I still see no reason for them to sell their ASNB unless there is something more attractive in the market. ASNB's dividends seems quite good so why would bumis sell it off?
Because some of us earn money through ASNB funds and actually use it and not simply for wealth accumulation as with the case of non-Bumiputra. The fact is that Bumiputra have more options. ASW2020 is not the only better fund ASNB has to offer. Bumiputra still have the ASD and now AS1M. Many Bumiputra sell theirs because they need to use the money. Be it for daily expenses or for emergency use. Anyway, most of the Bumiputra i know sell theirs because they need to buy a new set of sofa or a new seriously overpriced carpet hand made from the middle east for the upcoming festive celebration laugh.gif doh.gif (examples only)
