Is my principal in my asnb account remain the same even after 10 years without any activities? or the value diminishing like some account?
Thank you
Principal would remain the same but you will definitely see more in your account as they credit the dividend + bonus into your account every year.

if chinese?
i think for indian there are still so many left right?
The Chinese quota has long been fully subscribed. Chinese only stand a chance only if someone sold his/her tomorrow.

Money ruins friendship. Do not even think of doing that. Just my RM0.02.

Yes, that went through my mind..

Most of the chinese might not touch their investments here.. Since it consistently generates income for them every year, no reason for them to sell it..

Unless, some of them are in debts to settle some issues.
Besides, it's hard for the Chinese to buy such funds. Therefore, most of them will not sell it

Does that mean for the Malay quota of AS1M we just go to any local bank and say we want to buy in? Thanks.
Not any local banks. You can only carry out ASNB related transactions at their own office, any post office nationwide or any of the 3 agent banks namely Maybank, CIMB Bank and RHB Bank.

And yes. Just go to the counter and tell them you want to buy AS1M.

For those who are vested, it's not that we can be totally happy and ecstatic too. Who knows what will happen to the fund in future ? Perhaps first year, give a lot, then what about second year onwards ?
I second that ! If history is any indication, the first year dividend is always through the roof. After that it usually is just ... ah ... ok lor. Better than 12-month FD and that's it.

How good is this AS1M ?

Quite good, like 6%+ good but there is absolutely no guarantee the dividend will be the same or higher next year.

QUOTE(natzakaria @ Oct 17 2010, 07:28 PM)
maxed on ASB what is next best?

ASW2020 and ASD. ASD is strictly for Bumi only too.

QUOTE(natzakaria @ Oct 17 2010, 07:28 PM)
Can open account jointly with foreigner?
Definitely not. It is strictly for Malaysian citizen only.

Thanks Chase.
Wut are my other options?
Would it be possible for ASD & ASW2020 to be a joint account for son(bumi) & wife(foreigner)?

No. That is not possible too. Is your son 18 now ? If he is a Bumi, he can open the ASB too. However, there is a capped of RM10,000 until he reaches 18. When he is 18, he can deposit up till RM200,000 into his ASB account. As for ASD and ASW2020, i am not too sure if there is a capped for minor account but a joint account is definitely not possible.

By the way, if your son is still under 18, you will act as the guardian guarding his account(s).

QUOTE(natzakaria @ Oct 17 2010, 09:48 PM)
ASW and ASD how may %?
Other than ASD or ASW2020 should I be looking at Unit Trusts? or others?
Usually around 6% - 8%. But it's been a few years when they declared 8% for ASW2020. Anyway, i think you probably still can expect at least 6% for these two funds. I do not invest in unit trust, so i can't comment on that.

And wut do u invest in may I ask
Yes. ASD and ASW2020 would be your next best bet. I invest in ASB and ASW2020 at the moment.

good question hopefully mr chase can answer for you
Sorry but i am not familiar on this. So i can't give you an answer. Anyhow, i believe the banks only accept ASB as collateral and i have not heard of any banks accepting any other ASNB fixed price funds as collateral.

ASW 2020 > No for non-bumi
AS1M > No for Chinese

yeah, but I refer to milesandmore's reply "ASW 2020 > No for non-bumi, AS1M > No for Chinese"
Because the quota for ASW2020 for Chinese, Indian and non-bumi minorities are fully subscribed, hence the "non-bumi". As for AS1M, only the Chinese quota is fully subscribed, hence the "Chinese".

so you mean the quota is actually seperated between, bumi, and chinese, Indian, other non bumi minorities, instead of grouping them all as non bumi?
Not sure about ASW2020, all i know is that it is divided to 49% non-bumi and the rest for bumi. As for AS1M, indeed it is divided between bumi, Chinese, Indian and non-bumi minorities.

Indeed it is. Saw the update on CIMB Bank website too. Even ASD is fully subscribed !!! Hope they will increase the funds real soon. After all, don't they need more money for the 100-storey new building now biggrin.gif

PNB has just clarified in the newspaper that they are not using the funds from ASNB to build 100 storey highrise, they use other source to fund it. I think some investors panic abt the government decision. After all, PNB has no experience in construction/real estate field.
Oh ... i see. Didn't not read or watch the news yesterday sweat.gif

hi guys, if my ASB balance is zero...what is the status of my ASB account..? is it still active/valid, or automatically consider account close..? so next time i've to open another ASB account if i wanna invest in ASB..
Not sure. You can find out your ASB account status at any agent banks, post office of PNB office.

QUOTE(twins @ Oct 21 2010, 03:16 PM)
anyone know what is the max amount we can withdraw from ASB account per day..?
Please refer to the post below :
QUOTE(MilesAndMore @ Feb 7 2010, 05:23 PM)
RHB Bank = no limit
(**as long as the particular branch have enough cash then they will give you RM1 Million of cash if you want but no idiot will carry that much cash around since like 2 - 3 decades ago)

CIMB Bank = RM50,000/day/account

Maybank = RM20,000/day/account

Pos Office = RM10,000/day/account

ASW2020
51% for bumis        =  RM1,020,000.00

29.97% for chinese
14.99% for indians
4.04% for lain lain
49%                      = RM980,000.00

Total  100%            =  RM2,000,000.00
RM2,000,000 ? The approved fund size for ASW2020 to date is RM14,000,000,000, not RM2,000,000.

The final cost won't be just RM5 Billion. Just look at the new Istana Negara in Jalan Duta biggrin.gif
