QUOTE(wu ming @ Dec 25 2010, 12:57 AM)
ASB is for bumi only right?
I see many people advise to put money in ASB as a first step in investment?
They thought everybody here is bumi?

Because they expect many coming into this thread are Bumi. If you are not a Bumi, identify yourself and new suggestion will follow suit soon.

QUOTE(wu ming @ Dec 25 2010, 12:57 AM)
Any other funds which is equal to ASB but is open for non bumi (pendatang)?
ASW2020, ASM and AS1M. None of these are equal to ASB but they are the closest possible. All these three funds are fixed price funds and the dividend declared are pretty good. Usually at least 6%.

izzit to buy, just have to provide ic over the counter?

izzit worth to onvest in this as1m?
i have some rm50k cash now.... not sure where to invest
It is not as good as other fixed price funds such as ASW2020 and ASM but it is still much better than regular fixed deposit.

Missed this question earlier. Anyway, yes. You will need to provide your IC and tell them you'd like to buy AS1M. They will give you a form to fill.

QUOTE(cheahcw2003 @ Dec 28 2010, 09:30 AM)
Sometimes the truth is too ugly to reveal. Unfortunately our younger generations are just obedient and believe what is on the book, lacking of analytical skill. They just believe 100% the audited account. The reason i brought out this is for us to think, and not to finger pointing on anything or any party. Many has forgotten abt Enron Case, and there are so many GLC companies also. Aren't these companies are audited??? some are even audited by Big 4 AUdit firm.

Enron's accounts were audited by Arthur Andersen, one of the Big Five audit firms once upon a time. Anyway, just look at Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities LLC. This company has been around for 38 years before its collapsed and its accounts had been audited too throughout the 38 years. Bernard Madoff did not want audit firm from outside to audit the company's account, citing secrecy as the reason. Some people have been questioning the return of its funds back in the 90s but of course, it managed to survived for another 10+ years. Well done Madoff & Co laugh.gif

By the way, funds managed by his company had been consistently declaring an average annual return of 10% too all those years whistling.gif

QUOTE(cheahcw2003 @ Dec 28 2010, 09:30 AM)
Since ASB is making good profit for the last 15-20 years and so successful, why not other fund like AS1M, ASM just copied 100% the ASB's portfolio, so that it can get the same return, this is another questions worth to think abt it.
Well said.

Hi
I wanna ask some question.

1. Since AS1M ends on 30th sept 2010, lets say i put money on 1st december. Then i withdraw all of it on 30th June. During this period, will i get dividend once it closes on 30th sept 2011?
Yes. You will.

Thanks Chase for clarifying.
I have always wondered and thought that if you withdraw before it closes will end up with nothing.
Now I can safely withdraw and dump it elsewhere.
Any suggestions?
No problem.

Why do you want to withdraw it ? Judging from your username, i guess you're a Malay right ? Have you maxed out on your ASB ? After ASB, you should try to invest in other fixed price funds such as ASW2020 and ASD. However, both are sold out now. The next option is this AS1M which you already have now. My advice is to keep your money in there for the time being as fixed deposit rates are so low now. This fund, whilst doesn't perform as good as ASW2020, ASM or ASD, is still much better than fixed deposit.

I'm not too sure about this, but from what I read in the Prospectus, it states that in order to have an active account, you need at least 100 units remaining in the account.
So if he fully withdraw his unit in June, it will mean that he has closed his account totally at that time, and usually the dividend will be credited into into account on 1st October only.
But for clarification, you can always call ASNB at 03-2057 3000.
Oh right. I totally forgot about the minimum units thingy. Thank for pointing it out sweat.gif

Is the queue at Maybank, CIMB Bank and RHB Bank still crazy like yesterday ? Is CIMB Bank imposing RM10,000 maximum cash withdrawal now ?

Just curious, why so many ASB account holders like to withdraw after dividend being credited ?
to spend it, also some taking asb loan, so take out the dividend to serve monthly instalments.
Or to dump the dividend + bonus earned to other investment products.

This might be a far-fetched idea for some, but if you are truly for the income, then learn to invest in the Canadian Income Trusts. With careful and diligent study, you may be able to spot gems, and the yields can be above 10%, paid MONTHLY.

Google, read-up, and learn.

The PNB funds are not the only things in the world.
An interesting info. Thanks for sharing. Will google it smile.gif

Is it me, or what ? Why do you guys mention that Chinese is counted as Bumiputras ? Of course not,...

Anyway : please research about the Income Trusts, and if you guys are truly ready and keen to participate, I will provide guidance on where to buy,.. it's a bit lengthy,.. so let's see how many are truly keen enough.
I've read a bit last night but there is something i really want to know. Is it not fixed price fund right ? I mean it is a bit like unit trust too ? Because like Public Mutual unit trust, the dividend usually are very high but it all depends on when did you buy your units. The dividend declared every year might not even be enough to cover your depreciating NAV value.
