cwchua7: Taiko as in Bruce Lee in Big Boss? biggrin.gif As for how many pics in one posting, you can try and preview your post before posting. If there are any errors, it'll pop out.

Couldn't believe my eyes when I arrived in the office this morning and there it was... rclxm9.gif

It's quite huge box. I put a mechanical pencil on the top of the box for comparison.

wow guys... sorry tat i been away for quite a time coz i was busy with my stuff... seems lots of things have happened!!! shocking.gif i don have any comments on who collecting what, as long as im happy with what im collecting, tats the most essential...

collecting diecast is all bout fulfilling our desire to own cars which we are unable to own in real life... its a satisfaction that we will get when we see our collection in the cabinet and manage to grow this collection from time to time...

and REAL, pls dont go... sad.gif i guess everyone should have the reason to show their diecasts here, like i show my collection here coz i wana share my collection with fellow diecasters in LYN... also, i wana share some photoshooting experience too... u too have ur reason to stay here right? smile.gif

Well, there are ways of avoiding tax. Declaring the value lower helps and if total item declared is below RM 500, items that should get taxed would be exempted from tax. This only applies for items handled by Pos Malaysia. If your item is shipped via courier like DHL, TNT, UPS or FedEx, different rules apply and chances of getting taxed by the customs are much higher. That's based on personal experience.

Anyway, you guys down south in SG are lucky indeed. You have good hobby shops that have good diecast supplies that we can only drool. Even your Carefour toy section has better diecast selection. sad.gif

Therefore, diecast hobbyist in Malaysia have no choice but to shop overseas. sad.gif This is not a good scenario as you know because shipping cost is always high and makes everything that we buy cheap online become expensive. To top it off, there's also the risk of package getting lost or broken and of course the chances of getting taxed by buying online. Oh, not to forget that the shipper send the wrong item ! rolleyes.gif

Do you guys in SG get taxed for diecast items bought from overseas / online?

subaru22b: Me not a taiko. Me just a newbie trying to catch up with lost time. biggrin.gif

Jasonist: Woow. MIA for not too long but in a 1/18 scale world, your absense feels 18 times longer. laugh.gif

Yeah, they all look about the same but the fact is they are ! laugh.gif The grey BMW boxes are almost the same cars. Two Z4s and one M3. The Mercs happen to be the same which is the SL65 Black Series. Dealer Editions usually use the same box. So their external boxes look the same.

Ok, now because of the fault of the seller, I now have an additional SL65 Black Series. rolleyes.gif Ordered 2 but 3 came. Suppose to be another car.

user posted image

No camera tricks here. laugh.gif So if anybody interested, I have one more brand new unopened SL65 Black Series up for grabs. PM me if you're interested. First come first serve. To be fair, the price will remain the same as the one sold to the other person in Penang. Thanks.

jasonist: Totally agree with your comment about fulfilling our desires about collecting cars. Some may not agree with us and some may think we are little kids but I guess they will never understand.

jchue73: Wow now got 3 SL65 instead of 2... and by the way that's a huge haul there. So one question how can such a huge haul (big box) not be taxed?

khsj: You don't believe me? You wanna pay 5% + 30% more for your car? laugh.gif Just kidding.

This is my biggest so far and most expensive too. Box weight 20kg. Shipping was a killer though but it still works out cheaper than having to buy and ship one or two at a time. But of course with everything else, it's risky putting everything in one basket.

Hi jchue73

usu i dun under-declared my items frm overseas cos in case of any damages, i can claim actual value rather than e lower declared value.

well, SG Nikko used to b selling at gd reasonable prices, but e boss keeps increasing e price time & time again.

making me rather purchase frm ebay wif e current US$ rate, it is actually cheaper if i buy 2 or more & paid in US$.

regards taxes, SG custom tax item over S$400, but shd b a random pick cos i had packages over S$400 in e past & most of e time escape tax.

hope i remain lucky all tis while.

oso another way 2 SIAM tax is via opting express mail. most of e time it will go thru e custom as e P.O. has a time-frame 2 meet when handling express mail

but fallback is e exp charges of express mail

cwchua7: Looks like SG customs more relaxed that the limit is SGD 400. What's the % tax structure like for toys / diecast? Well, it may be that the prices of diecast of SG is going upwards but it's still cheaper than MY. Don't forget that you still have member sale days... sad.gif

You are also right about the shipping insurance / claim thingy. Lower value declared means lower value for reimbursment if anything should happen. So the bottom line is... IT'S RISKY !

BTW, that Makinen a classic and one of the more sought after cars you have there. smile.gif Bet you got yours at a very good price. That's one of the benefits of those who started the hobby early. Everything was cheap a few years back.

Hi guys,

been a long time since i've put up my post here (buzy with work!)

cwhua7: nice EVO VI TME!!!, its one of my favourite cars... but try to get it now it cost you bomb!! this is similar with the subaru 22b diecast cars, very expensive... I really wish AA will reissue or release back these legends in 1:18 in the future..

jchue73: yup... its true, last time an AA 1:18 diecast cost is relatively cheaper... just RM300-RM200 you can get EVO's, WRX and even skyline... and compare the price of MSIA and SG, you can get cheaper price in SG and also much more varities -(Kyosho, minichamps, BBR, AA and etc).. and also not forgetting that lots of our diecast shop also sourcing their product from SG!

But now its good that we can source our fav diecast online... eventhough sometime it quite a risk...

Btw, last time i remember Zacktan asking me to show my AA GTR R35, actually its kinda shy for me to show my diecast collection as i believe lot of forummer here are having the same cars that i've owned.. hihi... but not to let him down... here it goes..

IMG]http://i626.photobucket.com/albums/tt347/royjepun/kereta/DSC07893.jpg[/IMG]

R35 with my beloved R34...

user posted image

actually, the R34 is one of my most treasured item because it is the first AA release of R34..(using the old kotak... with the 'senget' display base.. remember?) before all the z-tune, S or R tune editions... and also hinges also is a 'dog-hinges' not like a latest release... using strut and have the stopper...

user posted image

MYKE or AURION: I remember seeing your Initial D AE86 car by AA with the CF bonnet and also with nice plate no. (like in the comic).... hey, can you help me to do it for the plate no. becoz i juz receive mine before the hari raya last time.... need to be accurate also like the comic... help me please smile.gif

I find the paintwork on the body very nice and smooth. The weight of the car is also heavier than the regular Autoart.

It was a surprise to me that they included a small Phillips screwdriver to unscrew the 4 screws on the bottom of the styrofoam.

hi jchue73

SG GST is 7%

although nikko has member discount & sales, but e base price of e model already jacked up by e boss.

so aft discount, it is in fact more exp than e days where e most exp 1/18 WRC was S$133.90 (havent include mem discount yet)

all those insurance claims is very troublesme & at times u might not b able to claim anythg back, so now my practice if any bad deals frm ebay, i will directly file complaint with paypal, if seller didnt respond, i will lodge a case with paypal & in-turn paypal will hold any credit that is available in e seller's acct until case is resolved & closed.

in this situation, usu seller will pay some compensation to u & when u r happy with it, then u close the case.

unfortunately, when i started collection in 2001, i only manage to get black & white TM6.

tat red TM6 i got it few mths back frm ebay.uk aft shipment & conversion, cost me ard S$550 sad.gif

yr SL 65 looks great!

used to collect 1/50 caterpillar construction models, but sold off & re-focus on 1/18 instead

Added on November 13, 2009, 1:00 amby e way, SG nikko having mem sales 28% discount frm now till Dec (duno wat date)

if any of u guys interested, mayb can consolidate orders & save on shipment

i can help ship over to u (1 main address in MY)

u guys jus pay for e cars & shipment, i dun charge extra

payment wise if u got friends working in SG would b better, can use POSB fund transfer

if not via paypal oso can, but must add 4% paypal fee
