QUOTE(saranjeevi @ Feb 7 2010, 09:59 PM) Standard pipe: As you know, we have some rules and regulations on exhaust gas emission. Manufacturers have to comply to these, so they have no choice but to seal the best part - high rpm power.QUOTE(rainingzero @ Feb 8 2010, 08:14 AM) sadly my Nob1 trioval cannot give better output at high rpm range. its kinda loss top speed. Am i missing something here? the powerband on low-mid is great, pickup is good, but the top speed is catastrophic... Same like above... all the settings, including pipe, camshaft and CDI, tries to cripple high rpm power. Just follow me in blogspot. I'll share the details and my practical experience out when I got some free time. This post has been edited by charge-n-go: Feb 9 2010, 12:41 AM |

Attached in post is the standard silencer used in my custom pipe. It's just some yellow sponge. Attached thumbnail(s) |

I pay a lil $ to use better quality silencer (white fibre). It is very big piece, can use 2 times. So I save another half in case the current fibre trapped too much carbon and becomes loud.
The noise level just decreased slightly at idling, but full throttle at high rpm can absorb better. Currently it sounds like NOB1 SSS already. Below are the pictures: Attached thumbnail(s) |

Finally !!!
and I curi curi snap another picture of another LC with custom pipe. and this is the video of the pipe idling sound before changing to fibre silencer. After changed, the idling is about the same. This post has been edited by charge-n-go: Feb 9 2010, 01:26 PM Attached thumbnail(s) |

QUOTE(anarchy04 @ Feb 9 2010, 08:00 PM) I see.Let me share some of my experience on pipe here: The pipe diameter cannot be too big. From Bernoulli's theorem, bigger pipe allows more air to go through, but the air speed will decrease. This will rob low rpm power, when the air speed is slow. Of course high rpm shines, as it can allow more air to flow. Last time the AHM that I was using is about 1.3 to 1.5". Farking bassy and loud, and the low end power is real bad. Cruising oso sound like Harley Davidson NOB1 SSS is a bit smaller than 1" at the exhaust header. Somemore it uses unequal size throughout the whole pipe. The collector kicks in a lil early and caused the air 'trapped' within the pipe at high rpm range. So it somehow feels like standard pipe when we rev hard at top end. Currently the custom pipe that I am using is 1" diameter. It is good enough for low to mid rpm, and gives more power from mid to high. Of course I can use bigger size, but I'll lose some low end torque for sure. It does not shine at mid-low, and it does not do best at top rpm, I would say it is a balance pipe for all rpm. Of course, if you guys have bigger capacity engine (like 58.5mm or 60mm), can try bigger diameter like 1.2". Then low-mid rpm will feel like 135cc, but mid--> high rpm will ROAR like VTEC. |
