Defence looks stretched early on. Quick start by Valencia IMO.

Great save Almunia. We don't look like we have settled in the game yet at all. Valencia all over us first 20 mins.

We are beginning to get into the game more now. Great build up play but as usual disappointing final ball from Eboue. Arshavin has been uncharacteristically poor as well so far in the few good positions he has been in in the final third.

The ref is sh*t. Poor defending and poor goalkeeping from Almunia almost gifting Silva the 1st goal. I've said it time and time again I'm not convinced by Almunia. A good keeper but not a world class one. His mistakes will cost us a fair few couple of goals this season IMO.

The match is beginning to turn ugly and the officials are beginning to lose control of the game IMO. Tackles are getting feisty with the occasional cheap shot from both sets of players. I just hope we don't get anymore injuries at the end of the game.

Another great chance squandered by van p....1 on 1 and he shoots it straight to the keeper at a most comfortable height

yeah but myb he thought he was offside..

No excuses IMO Its been well documented that players are always encouraged to play by the whistle. It doesn't matter what you think, no whistle no offside. Its little things like these that cost you games sometimes which I believe you are no stranger being an Arsenal fan. I think I'm being a little harsh probably as its only a friendly but its important we keep our momentum going and bring good form into the start of our season. A win here today would boost our confidence tremendously. I actually like how things are going now and how Valencia are playing in-your-face football and roughing up the lads a little as I feel we are in for similar treatment from Celtic at Parkhead. Just hope we don't get any more injuries.

I see Walcott, Dudu, Fabianski, Wilshere, Ramsey and Sagna are on the pitch. Big changes 2nd half IMO.

dudu, jack, theo, ramsey, fabianski in. not too happy with the fabianski bit.

I actually am a little relieved Fabianski is in. Almunia had a nightmare in the first half. Had nothing much to do but was very unconvincing when called upon.

Yes its a friendly and all, but being outplayed in every department when technically we should have been the sharper and fitter side considering we started our preparations much earlier than Valencia is certainly a wee bit worrying. If this had been one of our first pre-season matches I would have brushed it aside but to produce a performance like we did when we should have been playing like a well oiled machine ready for a charge against all trophies in front of us in the coming season isn't too encouraging IMO.

Apart from our poor defending (which I think is no secret so I won't go there), another pre-season game another nightmare for Almunia. To be honest I have not seen even a decent 45 mins let alone a decent game from Almunia in every pre-season game he has played in. Either making schoolboy errors, poor positioning or poor kicking in every game and this morning was no exception. If he doesn't buck up soon enough his antics might cost us a fair share of conceded goals or even worse, valuable points.

In short, we are screwed for another season. But an Arsenal fan I'll always be. Go Gunners! biggrin.gif

Nah, I wouldn't throw in the towel based on a pre-season game(s). A little worrying though I admit but I'm still confident the lads will come good and will surprise some people this year.
