Half agree with you JD smile.gif There are certain bodies' certifications can't be bought off the selves e.g. ACE & CSCS. Are you a qualified PT by the way? Getting official certs are not difficult, no rocket science studies, but it's about how much research and self study with passion that would make a better PT. What do you mean by "real" PT and then you stressed on certs are easily made available? How are you going to justify a real PT? Do a complete DD? By the way, even a qualified PT with numerous certs doesn't mean a good PT but are they REAL then? . Don't you know there are lots of PT in commercial gyms without certs but they are good PTs as well? They learned from the hard way (period).

Agree with you about the real PT and I would like to add on my little opinion.

A real PT is a person who really understands about fitness, his/her clients, goal understanding, goal achievement, and delivery of professional service as a fitness trainer.

You're right on that some qualifications are easily acquired, but physical appearance doesn't determine that he/she is a qualified personal trainers. There are many types and styles of personal trainers, some of them are runners, marathoners, physio, sports conditioning coach, and some fat trainers who can train older adults and professional people who don't even care about physic at all but healthy lifestyle.

Health and fitness aren't only about strength training like body building, some train for sport performance like athletes (or badminton, golf, tennis etc.), some just wanna go for fun workout and healthy lifestyle eg. bootcamp or group exercise classes, some even go for mind and body like yoga. Different people have different goals and thus different background of trainers will fit in to achieve their clients/ members' goal.

As a result, fitness isn't only about body building, but a very wide range of sectors and industries for us to explore. The best would be at least to have a qualification, or else experiences in sports or areas where clients are looking for.

Do correct me if I say anything wrong, thank you very much.

Better stay away from this and stick to the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) accredited certifications:ACE, NASM, NSCA etc. Maybe the knowledge you gain there will be useful, but the certification is a worthless piece of paper that nobody recognizes. And the price is shakehead.gif doh.gif

Hi Wild Fang

I'm a personal trainer operating in the Klang Valley. Just to answer your question, answer can be yes or no. Kinda like learning to play the piano...lotsa ppl can go to youtube..magazines and learn and do. But it's different when you have a professional to guide you and most important motivate la

Also important to know what type of exercises and zone intensities to focus on. A good diet helps

Hope this helps

Any PT who has membership in True Fitness Jaya33?
Already a member there with contract, so prefer not to go elsewhere for workouts.
