Different architecture..
nVidia is one dimensional while ATi is 5-dimensional..

So as an oversimplification, divide the AMD GPU's shaders by 5 when comparing with an Nvidia GPU to get a rough estimation to which is equal to which.

hi, i would like to know more about laptop graphic, basically how do we tell which one is better than the other? because i am not really good in technical field, i would like to know if we can say nvidia GTX is better than GT, and higher number like a GTX 560 is better than a GTX 485, and these 2 are better than a GT 555?

i would also like to know if GDDR5 is better than DDR3? and 2 GB memory is better than a 1 GB memory?

i read about the comparison table in the previous post, if i am anticipating online gaming or some pc game, with a certain graphic need, for example like diablo 3 in the future? which one can last for a longer use in the future? i would like to buy a laptop with a good graphic card since laptop not easy to upgrade in future, if they actually can...

sorry i am not familiar with graphic card specification, i'm a noob enduser >.<

Higher number is better, but that only within the same series, you can't diretly compare GTX560 with GTX485, only can compare with other GT500 series.
GTX485M > GTX560M >>> GT555M..

GDDR5 is better.

2GB doesn't means it better, 1.5GB can be better, depends the GPU.

Oh i see, thanks for the fast reply =)

is the 485, 480, 470 series better than the 560 series? with the 485 at the top position?

i don't see too much laptop with a GTX 485, i will try to get one if the price is ok, or 560 if i can find =)

Yes, GTX485M at the top, though if you want the similar performance with less cost, consider AMD HD6970M..

Here's some benchmark,
http://www.anandtech.com/show/4223/eurocom...d-6970m-rocks/5

From the price point, you need to add around $250+ to upgrade from HD6970M to GTX485M..

If you are aiming for GTX 485M at this moment, hold it first...
GTX 580M might come to the picture in 2-3 weeks time...
Not sure bout the price... but it's worth the wait... biggrin.gif

most variety of high-end cards are available on sager laptops and alienware is more limited but they still use high end gaming cards, if u want insane performance u can consider np7282 and m18x as your option but it will cost u 11K++ for a real desktop like performance, otherwise you may choose m17x or so on other options of sager which offers even gtx485m.
sager need to order from us by reseller if your are able, otherwise you may find alienware laptops at market

GTX560M still can't compare with the GTX485M yet. It's more like an in between for the GTX470 and GTX460M.

Catalyst 11.6 WHQL is out. Many user experience performance increased in The Witcher 2. If you have mouse lag issue, it's probably fixed in this driver.

Will benchmark this against my current 11.5b later. Will this consider out of topic? sweat.gif
