Catalyst 11.6 WHQL is out. Many user experience performance increased in The Witcher 2. If you have mouse lag issue, it's probably fixed in this driver.

So, I have downloaded the official WHQL Catalyst 11.6 from here:

Compare to Catalyst 11.5b:

3dmark06 (stock clock): Lower (7826 vs 7622)
3dmark11 (OC): Unchanged (P1455 vs P1454)
The Witcher 2 (OC): Improved a few FPS! Average still around 30 FPS. But it hits 40++ more frequently. Even in heavy cut-scene its drop less frequent to 25 FPS... Combat FPS improved!

Conclusion: 3dmark06 seems running a little lower, but should be neglectable. on the other than, The Witcher 2 gain a few FPS, that's great news. Recommend to upgrade.

OK, will consider RE5, i heard many good review about it. But I just completed Hunted: The Demon's Forge, kind of lazy to start another game... moreover, think there is a few new games coming out:

1. Dungeon Siege 3
2. Alice: Madness Returns

So many games! So little time!

think the ocl is for OpenCL, which is important if you do parallel programming. otherwise, not so important. having said that, if you can find driver with ocl, just download the one with ocl! having a feature that u dont need is better than not having that feature! (that's me)

usually, unofficial driver without OCL will be released first... then, OCL will be added to it later... so, newer is better...

why the one without OCL is bigger? i also cannot answer lor...

may be the additional 3k is the code used to hide the car?

why set SoundAutoDetectCPUCoreCount to 2?

it is 4 mostly because you have hyperthreading. so, even though you have 2 cores, it works as if there is 4 cores... since u have core i5, this should be expected...

In term of real gaming benchmark, I am also detecting very minor drops in Resident Evil 5

- Fixed benchmark: 60.0 FPS (60.1 FPS in Catalyst 11.6)
- Vari benchmak: 62.7 FPS (63.1 FPS in Catalyst 11.6)

Conclusion: Minor drops in performance detected (inconsistent with what others report, most others getting improved performance ). Since the driver is not really official yet, you may want to wait for the official 11.7.

i would vote for B, which has more raw power, instead of just bigger memory bandwidth. so, for me:

B > A (much more Cores!)

A is just a beef up nVidia 540m!

Being me, I install the 11.8 Preview without second thoughts! Especially because this driver improved a few aspect of 5000 series card (i have 5650).
