QUOTE(destfull @ Jan 13 2010, 10:11 PM) Guys, waiting new MBP for so long edi... now cant wait Need opinion: iMac 27" for now plus MacBook 13" later or wait for 15" MBP High End plus Full HD LCD? btw, already have laptop for now.. Compaq C2D based.. take this with a pinch of salt. QUOTE Spanish site faq-mac.com reports [Google translation] that chipmaker Intel has sent an e-mail to members of its Intel Retail Edge program touting a chance for participants to win one of two MacBook Pro notebooks based on Intel's new Core i5 processors during the month of January. Apple's MacBook Pro line currently utilizes Intel Core 2 Duo processors. Other sources have confirmed that similar promotional e-mails have gone out to program participants in the United States and United Kingdom. Intel's Retail Edge Program is targeted at employees of retail stores that offer Intel-based products for sale, and offers them training opportunities to increase their knowledge of Intel products as well as contests and special discounts. Early benchmarks have shown the Core i5 processors to hold significant performance advantages over the Core 2 Duo line, with similar battery life for systems based on the two lines. As noted by our Buyer's Guide, the MacBook Pro is nearing the end of its typical lifecycle, having last been updated in June 2009. Apple is reportedly scheduled to be holding a media event in San Francisco at the end of this month, where it is widely expected that the company will introduce its long-anticipated tablet device. It is unknown whether Apple would also take that opportunity to introduce revised notebook offerings or if it would do so at a separate time. QUOTE(teikwing @ Jan 14 2010, 02:18 PM) take this with a pinch of salt.Source why? better-spec MBPs are inevitable... even not launched on january, maybe a few months ahead. no way apple is going to stay behind the i5/7 generation about this rumour, try to find the poster for it. there was a picture of the previous gen MBP. as i said, i5 MBP has always been very likely, but the ad doesnt seem genuine.

I don't get it.. since portability is not your issue as you are thinking of getting the iMac beast, why still considering laptop MBP although it might have an update as rumored?

QUOTE(zergg @ Jan 14 2010, 05:25 AM) i just bought the myself the new macbook white. this is my first apple machine ever so just wanna ask a newbie question here. and another thing, the cable ac plug that they give me seems like US version one.not the typical 3-pin headed that we all malaysian use daily.do i need to pay extra to get one? You bought it from a shop? That's weird that they didn't include the proper power plug. If so, I would go back and ask for it. If you bought it from someone on eBay or whatever, then you're on your own. I bought my MacBook while visiting the US since it was so much cheaper there. I just use a WonPro power plug adapter I bought for RM12 in Low Yat. This arrangement has been working for many years without a problem. Cheaper than trying to get a replacement power cord if you'd have to buy it.
