cache is for the CPU to store frequently used data so that it doesn't need to retrieve from the RAM or HDD, thus making the process much quicker...

usually, more cache would help, but too much, is not necessarily a good thing also, as too much will increase the time to search as well...

for AMD K8 CPU, cache doesn't really help so much, they are not shared anyway... it's the speed that really counts...

wonder if theres something wrong in the price list here..

AMD Turion X2 QL64-2.1Ghz
2GB DDR2 PC667 Dual Channel
250GB Ultra DMA harddisk
and so on..

the processor is a mistake itself right?
and the ram given is double 1Gb rite? which makes it dual channel.. and its only 667Mhz?
*
all correct except for CPU...

a AMD QL64 is definetely an Athlon... Turion is TL, while Turion Ultra is ZM...

using 667MHz makes sense since that's the max speed that an Athlon can support... u'll need a Turion if u want to use 800MHz instead...

If a lot of competitor, price will go down a bit I guess. See who start the war first...
*
nah... u juz see the closes competitor in terms of price...

Compaq CQ40, Turion x2 + HD3450
Acer 4736, C2D T6500 + G 105M
Asus K40Ab, Athlon x2 + HD4570

pretty obvious isn't it???

well, perhaps the shop put in 800MHz, but at the end of the day, it will be downclocked to 667MHz, since that's the max speed that Athlon x2 can support...

so.. if i wanna get it working in 800Mhz.. i'll have to overclock my processor adi eh.. which is a necessity for K40ab users?
*
overclock also no use...

u need a Turion x2 instead...

DNA claims that they optimize Catalyst for gaming... never try it though cuz the last time i used screwed up my MBR...

Asus 1 is basically same as the official one from AMD...

HD3200 consumes less power...

wat he meant was that HD4570 dun consume that much power compared to HD3200 (afterall, it's still a low end card... how much power can it suck???)

Both, astria already say what I want to say
Currently I use the driver from the CD, I've tried DNA before, not much difference. It supposed to have some tweaks over official driver, but the main reason why I put it there is because the official driver from ATi/AMD DOES NOT support Mobility cards
*
try the Win7 driver... they work, but u need to install Asus' one then AMD's will recognize the GPU...
