QUOTE(leongal @ Nov 21 2009, 05:38 PM) do u jog in the rain? has been raining the past few weeks in the evening....jogging plans have been spoilt; just ran in the rain....have to compromise with fewer rounds.... i ran in the rain as well, it wasn't really heavy and all but it was just drizzling but aaaahhh the satisfaction of finishing a run..QUOTE(talexeh @ Nov 22 2009, 12:51 PM) Erm... can I know what is the best way to run long distance race, such as half-marathon & marathon? i want to say there is no best way I just came back from my very first ever half-marathon (PBIM) & managed to run / jog all the way without slowing down to a walk, albeit at a slower pace. I noticed that certain runners tend to burst at high speed & when they're tired, they walk before bursting again once they've rested enough. I've tried this burst-walk-burst formula during training but noticed that when I slowed down to a walk, my limbs will go sore due to the lactic acid build up (if I'm not mistaken) & it was so uncomfortable to even attempt another burst. During the PBIM this morning, I managed to overtake a lot of burst-walk-burst runners (especially schooling teenagers) but it somehow bugged me that there were some who managed to repeatedly appear by my side after I've left them behind when they slowed down. Since you guys are much more experienced, I'd like to get your opinion on this. Thanks. in the POWERMAN event for example, i felt the way u did.. ppl overtaking with this funny burst of speed.. dey walk run walk run.. but me slow jog all the way oso gt overtaken train harder??!! then it be more difficult for ppl to overtake well as syd G explained, this "formula" its good for training purposes though QUOTE(metalfreak @ Nov 23 2009, 12:06 PM) wah...... tak ada olang update on PBIM? tunggu -ing ur update la.. blog oso belum update ni It was an awesome experience. Race collection kit was smooth........I love the Alienware laptops...HUGE! Although my timing was er..worse than my KL marathon, I felt I did better in my running. When i reached the 2 PBIM running statues, it was like 2 hour 20 or 30mins on my watch. Was very happy but it went all downhill from there. Cramps hit me alittle on my right quads(above the knee area) but that wasn't the issue. My left feet was hurting real bad towards the last 4 - 5KM. Ended up walking till the pain was more bearable and ran towards the finishing line when it was closer At least I didnt cramp up at the finishing line line my previous 2 events Apasal my feet sakit? Its hurting at the outer side at the top. ...er..let me find a pic to show u guys(I'm going to tar pau my lunch 1st) 1. Is it my New balance shoe New Balance MR1063? 2. I'm landing outside of my feet? 3. I didnt run for so long that is why it hurts? Syd knows about it when I met up with her 2 weeks back for the short run. sad sial =.= just when I tot can do sub 3. what a bummer. cramps.. u take hydration salt? i tink dat shud help.. ur feet hurting? i tink someone had a similar problem? i tink marvinct.. it was coz his laces weren't tied properly.. if i rmbr correctly la QUOTE(Syd G @ Nov 23 2009, 12:41 PM) Next year no more GE Pacesetters 30k liao. Just Pacesetters 30k only. 30km for me!NEW ROUTE! http://www.pacesetters.com.my/events/p30frm1.htm http://www.pacesetters.com.my/events/p30frm2.htm Added on November 23, 2009, 12:42 pmOooo next year got 10k category and u gurl shudn't even consider the 10km!! haha u train so much, been running quite a bit.. dun b lazy haha @Frank i myself hv read a no. of articles relating to ankle weights and all when running.. nth positive so far This post has been edited by d3vilzzzz: Nov 23 2009, 01:08 PM |

i heard endurox works well
but if its purely for training purposes, take the distance bit by bit and at the end of the day you will be able to run at least 20km just on water (personal exp btw) but again, it also depends on the intensity of your training |

QUOTE(Syd G @ Dec 21 2009, 09:49 AM) Almost DNS due to what happened the day before. But I soldiered on since I promised my brother to run with him. After 2k & 4k I wanted to DNF liao. After 1 loop I wanted to turn right ady since I hv extra band (picked up on the road). But I finished nevertheless.. arnd... er.. 2hrs plus Janji habis! as long as you finish!! Not many can tackle that crazy arse route! QUOTE(bubb13s @ Dec 21 2009, 10:10 AM) the malakoff last hill climb was the killer. anyway...i wanted to quit after the 1st loop already as i felt like i wanted to puke (not enough sugar for breakfast). but i hung on for the 2nd loop. felt better after my oats started to kick in. learned my lesson already. I agree with you, especially after the first loop where you hv to climb it to pass the traffic lights then start the 2nd loop I think the hill along "Beringin Residence" was pretty insane too, the one after the MANULIFE building |
