will do.. once i dug them up.. but will do some experiment on them 1st if they really do eat the mites... all i need now is some mites....

Added on July 23, 2009, 2:22 amthose good mites are predatory mites. They feed of the bad mites.. and after all of them have been cleared, they to will die off..

no, not those pili.. frm what i read, they are good mites, which are also mites, but mites that eat other mites, and die when their job is done..

do u really think those pili can be put into the same container with scorps? either the scorp will kill them, or scorps die..
*
They r so small how the scorp kill them? There r slightly chance for scorp to step them to death. The largest individuals of this kind of isopod can be 1 cm long, but most are 7 or 8 mm.

yeah predatory mites! thats the work im looking for instead of "good mites" lol

but those are not in malaysia..

i wonder how to breed many scorps and at the same time, to manage this mites prob effectively..

the only thing is prevention.. like they say... prevention is better than cure..
make sure that the uneten food is taken away and any poos left by the scorps are also scraped away.. that should prevent the mites from coming.. oh yeah good ventilation..

yeah prevention is better than cure, but things will not always go as what we plan.. for a big scale breeder, they will face these kind of prob.. with their big collection, it will be impossible to monitor all of them to the point that u said..

well, this is sumtin which is good to discuss about~

It is true dat mites issues r overrated in Malaysia forums rclxub.gif
If cant deal wiv this issue i suggest dun try big scale breeding 1st,if wanna breed, then go for desert sp. drool.gif
This reminds me of lester's H.Arizonensis drool.gif drool.gif drool.gif

Akagi, were the young uns separated before they voluntarily got off her? They look awfully young to be separated from they're mom. One of the most difficult thing to simulate artificially is the regulation of humidity by way of osmosis. How the mother keeps her younglings hydrated until they form 'harder' shell structures which in turn prevent for loss of bodily fluids. That's just a theory, but it's one theory that's got grounds in my books.

I don't follow this thread as avidly as I used to anymore. I don't know the full story and am not judging your efforts bro. I like how you post.

it all started when the mother gave birth in the parcel during shipping.
i transfered her to the enclosure and made sure she wasn't unnecessarily stressed to prevent her from eating her babies.

but she keep on eating them and then 1 day she went berserker.started to run around the enclosure and as a result a this lot u see here was thrown off her.

i pick them all out and checked the enclosure for any more that might be left behind and found 1 buried in the substrate.

the cause of the berserker mode was maggots which i found after a close examinationof the mother. a total of 4 have been removed.

the mother is doing well after the removal but she refuses the babies.

i had no choice but to try the technique that was posted by Ryo if i'm not mistaken.

all we can do is pray and hope the babies will survive.

i hope this condensation of what have happened is to your liking.

Take back my words, woodlice cant eat the mites. But quote frm scorp forum:
QUOTE
Scoop some dirt from outside into a tub.

Examine it for little critters running around. These are probably predatory mites.

Transfer them gently with a fine paintbrush into your scorpion's enclosure. If you don't have a fine paintbrush, tape a few of your hairs to the end of a pencil to make a very small brush.

I'm going to dig for some.ANW...nice L.Scutilus rafiqos biggrin.gif

How unfortunate. Please keep updating this thread on how the babies fair akagi. I'd love to learn from your experience. Thanks!
