yes yes.. but we can stop that by power feeding when scorplings (say 2i to 5i) then stop power feeding them. by doing this, can get faster growing scorplings and at the same time lifespan wont be much shorten.

after 5i, just enjoy the scorpion grows normally.. and u can enjoy seeing a relatively big scorps along the way too~

A true hobbyist keep scorpions to study them.Although we do hope our collections expand, but our top priority is to learn and research about scorpions and we learn step by step from mildly venomous to highly venomous, from tropical rainforest to extreme desert. If your only intention is just to expand your collection,I am sorry but we really dun agree in that.

We need to learn to take care of mildly venomous sp. correctly before proceed to the next level. This is why experts always warn us about those highly venomous sp.,or else wat is the sentence "STRICYLY not for BEGINNERS" mean?
And who says dat only large collections can earn respect????Even u got all the sp. in the world but u take care of them wrongly u wont earn a little bit of respect instead ppl will look down at u.Compare this:
A person with every sp. in the world, but taking care of them wrongly, all desert sp. in the care of tropical sp.,all tropical sp. in the care of desert sp. and a person with just a humble AFS and the way he taking care suits the scorpion's habitat, which 1 u choose to respect???

Respect doesnt earn frm scorpions, but earn frm the passion and the knowledge about scorpions. If respect earn frm collections,i think the 1st page all the info shall be deleted and just list out all the species of scorpions in this world.

If u really wan to study about scorpions u should go with less venomous sp. 1st...Not all desert sp. r highly venomous,so y choose a highly venomous sp.?If you think it is hard to find the sp. u wan,u can research about it 1st,y so rush in keeping scorpions?

Anyway, wat done is done,we just trying to remind future scorpion keepers not to be rush in keeping scorpions, learning is more important. If this keep going,i guess in the future every1 will start with LQ as their 1st scorpion.Think about it wink.gif

Noy all scorpions can be handled.. before purchasing ANY scorpions please make research and ask people who has or know much about it. Since u have it now, place the scorp away from other people only you know. If you have childrens then it is save for you to kep it away from them. Do not thing this sp will be shy to you, it wont.

In fact none scorp shld be handle
Even a AFS are potentially to kill if ur highly allergic to it

Im sorry but i dun quite agree
Passion doesnt give u all the reason to own a deadly sp that fast
How long have he been keeping scorp? Few months and straight wan2 go for Hot sp?
No offence but he juz started with a potentially deadly bark scorp (T.Stigmurus) and im sure he have not fully understand how barkie scorp behave yet and he is going for a deadly sp already
U said we should give him a chance but bear in mind in the internet ppl can type watever they wan, eg: i will respect this, do this do tat, take precaution, in real life u dunno if he really mean it or nt
The chance u gave him might end up to be a ticket to hump angel at the heaven
There are so much of other choice available, EG: the shipment rafiqos is doing (Emperor, Desert Hairy, Flat rock etc) why dun ask him2 get those instead?
Arent those more safe for him? Unlike during my time where no choice at all, only LQ and YFT (And a unidentified parabuthus sp tat mistaken as YFT) available

Im not here to bring flame, im here to discuss bout it, i see it as a good topic to be discuss in this thread

everyone must remember how we all started. and dont over react..LOL.. get your point delivered once, thats enuf.. then help the new fella, no point firing them again n again.. pity the fella.. lol.

my 1st bike is a suzuki fxr 150cc 4stroke with clutch.. and i had never ride a bike with clutch b4, and nvr ride any bike outside the pusat latihan memandu..

my 1st tarantula is an adult SG blue with attitude and damn fast..

and all is well~

Be frank of what u wanna say
Who is the one with large collection and think newbie as a noob here?
FYI i do not see any newbie who have small collection as a noob, in fact i respect them to take it slowly in the hobby
Ppl like Sam and Hyourin earned much respect from me because they dun rush to get new species b4 considering all the risk and research bout them even i offer them to get some sp from oversea seller sometimes

lol. me name and hyorinmaru also got involve.lol

there is one old saying.

" if your want to play with fire, be sure you are willing to get burn"

not an insult but a friendly reminder to all of us in this field of exotic venomous animals.

haih. i sound like an old pakcik already.

all of us are fussing about it but where is k.fai anyway?

his safety is our priority. lol. we area a protecttive bunch.lol.

lets just this issue go past and help k.fai or any other who are interested in getting a scorpion, hot or cold by providing the relevant data, caresheets, enlcosure information, and anything that might be useful for those who are and want to keep scorpions as a hobby.

i dont want us to be divided on this issue. it is more productive for us to get our heads and experience together then argue among ourself about hot and cold scorpions ownership.

i do sound like an old pakcik.

Think twice before making ur next move. even to these day i wanted to get a deathstalker and i can assure you its easy to get one but i am not fully understand the behavior. Still researching and still asking people who has one. All i say is research well before ur next purchase. whats done is done. i hope u are reading all of this info K.fai and not only you but to the rest of the hobbyists. Now we are a community. We help each other. Someone got it wrong and we correct it. Not to split the group. Please understand.

The "group" you guys are talking about have never existed in the first place. The usual back stabbing here and there happens more often then you can imagine.

About newbies getting deadly species, if they ever get stung, and die, the news it self would call for a blanket ban on all scorpions and other inverts like tarantula can, and will be involved, legislation and licenses will be required. And much others. No one can judge how ready are you except for your self. Let me tell you this, no amount of research/reading/videos can get you ready for the real thing. They're after all, live and unpredictable creatures.

The least you guys can do is listen to Ryo and Rafiqos. They're the only people in this forum that i think knows exactly what they're doing.

PS: Ryo, what have you done to the scorpion community? shakehead.gif Handling Androctonus doh.gif

My adult Afs do eat house lizard and frogs, as they often consume animal live starting from the back which bit disheartening, how big is your lizard anyway?

For and adult afs no problem to consume a lizard that size,

I assume urs is the cool Longimanus.

Make things clearer, My H.spinifer have at least 1-1.5inch pincers, Most of them are about 4 inch excluding tail. I dare say it can consume but sometime just not in the mood and take some time accepting the food, i just leave them in there.

yup its the longimanus. the 2 in quarantine.
maybe la. i hope they are not picky eaters.

but i have observed them not eating for long periods of time even thou food is abundance and they are really thin.

i guess thats just how they are.

they just eat what they need and not being a glutton. but this is observed in adult longimanus. the juveniles as you can see in 1 of the post by me not to long ago just eats what it can as long as it can.

HAIL FOR ALL SCORPION HOOLIGANS!! LOVVVVL!!

should put in the 1st page: this thread only for true scorpion researchers, not for collectors~ lol

I very very respect lester bcoz of his experience with all the sps.. yet he's not a true avid researcher (he even dunno those scientific terms) yet he know scorpions very very well

i respect ryo bcoz of his scientific knowledge. knowledge is power

i respect rafiq bcoz of his experience and knowledge in this area.

tagreptiles: ure right on the dot for the backstabbing stuffs.. good for those who thinks they are in a group just bcoz always agree and share same thinking.. at the moment.. just wait n see.. LOL

ryo: i thought i said dats the situation in the tarantula thread didnt i? and that was long ago.. during the time u still haf the "AFS breeding program" banner (if im not mistaken..lol).
not in this thread... yet.. LOL

hyorin: over reacted to what i said... again.. LOL should really understand the whole sentence and identify the place, time, parties/group involves 1st (for the respect part) LOL. i said what i had gone trough at that time and place only, nutin to do with anyone here.. if im talking bout here, then only ryo and lester would be the person im intended to mean.. (bcoz only they haf big collection)

lester will certainly out bcoz i was supporting what he said AT THAT TIME. as for ryo, i havent had any argument with him earlier on this matter or even said anything between us on this matter at that time.. so he's out too.

meaning: not intended to anyone in this thread..as what i stated, it happens in the T thread long long ago.. and only when i point out sumtin similar as what lester had said~

dizzy: not that tarantula thread closed minded, especially now.. now tarantula thread seems ok~ the incident i talking about happened long ago..and it only occur during that 1 time when i was pointing sumtin out. alah, flaming happens now and then~ nutin much

the army are doin great!! all are well and eating well oso~ hope they can molt fast fast!! when u gonna get ur next brood?

CHEERS~ biggrin.gif
