QUOTE(RyoKenzaki @ Jul 27 2009, 12:24 AM) Er, are u referring to the sole survivor? is it? because i didn't find any exoskeletons in the deli cup. furthermore the colour you see is a result of auto function something in picasa. it actually look paler and this morning it is much darker. If yes its ady in 2nd instar, can't u see the different yet? And it got a very nice name! if it is then say hi to Vitalis. i moved into a really small tupperware. the diameter is about of a 50 cent coin. do you think it is too small. Vitalis is not that big either. Added on July 27, 2009, 9:33 amlester, have a look at the stinger and see if you can spot this feature on it. this is a picture of a Isometrus maculatus telson. http://www.denniskunkel.com/images/StockIm...s_02/21013A.jpg edited coz picture link don't work. that is not coco fiber. that is my saw dust mix that is not dry nor damp. all of them were pupeaing in that substrate. i hate using oats. ants are invading my room for unknown reason and they not only attack the meal worms they attack me as well.
ah that container is holding Vitalis for the time being. why must we waste when we can recylcle. come to think of if almost all of lester's container have been recycled by me to make hides and stuff. hahaha. |

yes they hold moisture quite well. in fact too well. the top surface can be bone dry but the bottom is moist. and it is not pleasant when it is too dry. it gets well dusty. lol.
don;t get me wrong hyorin maru. the picture is just for the pupeaing ones. there is another container to feed them the "power mix". hahaha. |

heheheh. it is a secret ryo. wait until i have finish field trials. i'm trying to find a way to power feed meal worms and also other feeders.
don;t want to power feed scorpions like lester does. i just power feed the feeders. trying a few formulas now. reffering to the exo of 1 instar, yes i have found only 1 of it. it looks like a scorpling has burst and lost all of its fluids. 1 formula makes the meal worms extra juicy. a lot of fluid when you cut them into halfs. 1 formula makes them grow really fast. so it is still a trial & error for me. rideon, i would love to have a herping trip with u to lambir hills. if you are serious about it maybe we can go next year. that is if i am still here. but even if i'm not, i will come back for a herping trip any time here. |

well there are reports that the mother if you didn;t seperate the scorplings from her will actually kill the prey and feed it to the scorpling. i still remember someone in venomlist if i'm not mistaken keeping the spinifers scorpling till they are about 3 instars with the mother.
you can also separate them if you wish. it is your choice. for me i would just let them be with the mother and provide as much food as i can to them to prevent cannibalism( which i think can;t be help, it is hardwired into them) and just hope for the best. in other words it is natural selection doing its job. |

ryo, wont the scropling go on a feeding frenzy if you put 1 meal worm with in the middle of them.

don't buy more then you need.
you will get upset by the mortality rate and also the insect that it attracts if you have too much of them for too long of a time. |

tonight i'm going to war with them. if they want the meal worms then it's fine but don;t use myself as the highway and sting me on the way out. |

izzu, sorry for your lost.
how about a change of taste. don;t get all upset. try to find the cause of the mites. lets start with the substrate. try to use potting soil. not the one you get from your garden. Those packeted branded ones sold in jusco or sumting (can't remember already. been too long already in sarawak). it would be great if you can get data from the type of substrate that encourage mites to breed and what is not. i'm trying to compile data here about mites on scorpions but it is very difficult for me because the only mites that i found are the ones on chickens. rideon, the traps are ready but there is one crucial component missing. male crickets. i can;t find any. lol. have to wait until i can find a male crickets somewhere. just for fun. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « |

i know. thats why i hate them.
you need a good warm and humid place for them to grow but it also encourages other things to grow as well. hope the new formula will settle it nicely. |

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Vitalis update. It ate this afternoon. gave it half a superworm and it ate it. half way eating it it tried to back away from the meal worm but the mealworm was stuck to Vitalis. saw it reversing round and around the container to get it off. really funnny. |
