QUOTE(chewkl @ Sep 28 2009, 09:30 PM) Wonder if WD TV version 3 (WD TV Live considered as version 2) will be using the new Sigma chipset that supports BD ISO... by that time got realtek 2.0 which plays BD-ISO and sells at RM399... and has the option to put a x2 BD rom at RM199..

QUOTE(Maniac @ Oct 2 2009, 10:39 PM) PCH Audio Convertor is a very easy to use convertor that does the trick in few minutes time. If ones do not intent to buy an AVR, just use it to convert to AC3 lah. if already have WD, then no choice to use this option... if planning to get a new one, better buy one of the realtek based units.. (cheapest is RM350 (USd99) asus) hehe! cant imagine converting lots of MKVs just because the player not up to the standard of DTS playback..

QUOTE(Poadster @ Oct 5 2009, 10:33 AM)
3. Slowdown depends on the quality of the movies you get. WDTV plays 720p files nicely, and tho some users report that it does stutter during some action intensive 1080p movies, i have not personally experienced them.
The capacity of yr HDD also affects the performance. Having a 95% full HDD will stutter 1080p movies, but if u r a computer user, u shld know that thats expected even on a high end PC.
no wor.. if you experience these , then you using outdated equipment.. (cheapo low end system can handle 1080p MKVs no problem) and if WDTV cant handle 1080p properly then it's also outdated, look for realtek based solution then with DTS decoding.., starts with asus USD99..

QUOTE(Poadster @ Oct 6 2009, 01:45 AM) Bro, i was refering to the slower performances of any HDD when they are 95% full, it is definitely slower than when its at 5%. Aiya, to u elites, low end PCs is oredi quad core with 4GB ram..... my fren's PC is low end, single core with 1GB ram.... 1080p Shinjuku Incident stutter like hell...... Ya.... will prolly move onto Asus or POHD when the prices stabilize, esp if Asus player is at WDTV prices as it can handle RMVB as well.... no la where got elite,.. am using only cheapo core duo 2GHZ.. 2G ram.. and cheapo 4670 video card.. the graphics card really does all the load.. maybe should try it before getting a new system.. if just to get 1080p smooth playback no need to upgrade entire system.. (as for the HDD95% full, didn't notice any difference, it helps if you have 32MB of buffer ram in the HDD, even 5400rpm HDD like samsung no problemo.)

QUOTE(Poadster @ Oct 6 2009, 06:35 PM) I am running 2 1TB Maxtor specifically for the WDTV. In one of the HDD, its about 93% full, the movies (720p or 1080p) doesnt stutter, but it takes WDTV exactly 30seconds to load the menu AFTER the movie started playing. What i mean here is i select the movie, hit the enter or play button, and the movie plays. However, WDTV "locks up" for 30 seconds where it does not respond to anything. Even the "time bar" that displays when a movie starts is missing, and only shows up after 30 seconds. When the 'time bar" shows up, then i can press buttons to get WDTV to change options or stop the movie. Anyone experiences this with a full HDD? This doesnt happen to my other half full 1TB HDD and my 70% full 250GB external HDD. wah so palia wan ar? on other media players like egreat and the realtek unit, or even low end core duo PC don't feel these effects of 90% full HDD slowing down....
