i'm using WDTV 2nd Gen and very annoyed on the "header compression" issue on the newer MKV files eg IronMan2, ToyStory3, etc
My screen just got stuck and have to unplugged the unit for me to get the media player working again. Its also been discussed here :
http://wdtvforum.com/main/index.php?topic=7051.0Do u guys experienced this issue? any firmware to overcome this?
if not, time for me to upgrade to Dvico N1 (sorry sidetrack a bit, very annoyed rite now)
yeah no choice to remux.. i already upgraded to b-rad 3rd party firmware..
by using this firmware i notice the amount of movies needed to remux is lower and if it crashes, just use the reboot option in the main UI and u can play the movies again.. no need to unplug power,etc..

Hi all,
I planned to buy WDTV Live Media Player on next month...
I would like to ask whether WDTV Live support any type (easy to say, any brand) of External HDD or it only support external HDD that are made by WD only??
Currently I only have Samsung 500GB external HDD and Buffalo 320GB HDD...
yeah u can use with other hdd.. i've used hitachi and buffalo and corsair 8gb thumbdrives.. all played ok.. just make sure all formated to ntfs.. i notice occasionally there are sum detection problems if i stick in a thumbdrive with fat32 on it..
