@kayzie,
Yes, Maxis has just introduced Daily / Hourly Passes. Besides that U can also subscribe to monthly GPRS plans. Check their website for rates.

@btr999,
iData plans are for post paid users. There's a discount/rebate on the RCP of the i3GS if U sign up for iData2/3 plans. If U sign up for the Hotlink Prepaid plan, U will not get the rebate but U get 500MB of free data.

Assuming you aren't a heavy user + still qualify to join Hotlink Youth then use that SIM to make the i3GS purchase to enable the free 500MB data p/month for 12 months

@pokemonmaster,
What did the letter say?! Did the letter say the rebate will be given to a postpaid account or is it valid for outright purchases? If it's valid for outright purchases then should be no problems but thus far from what I know the RM500 discount will be credited back into your current account over a period of 5 months.

@shibli,
Just wait till you receive the call. We aren't able to tell you how long the wait time is. If Maxis (the seller) can't give U that information, don't expect us to be able to give U the answer biggrin.gif

@tj01,
We've previously cautioned re pro-rate of charges by Maxis; just too bad U didn't read those posts sad.gif

@pokemonmaster,
I don't have the letter from Maxis; didn't purchase the i3G from them; just the i3GS biggrin.gif

@vectorian,
What issue are U referring to that you're keen to find out?!

@elsheik,
Yes Maxis remains the right to amend their plans as and when they want. However if the information is still available on their website; tell the CS the information is available on the website. They should honour it. Am not sure if U went to make a pre-booking but if U did, then it is true that Maxis has stopped taking pre-orders for those wanting to purchase via the Hotlink Prepaid option. I believe they will re open it when stocks are adequate.

@jlstriker,
U mean Value Plus not Value First. Yes U can add on iData 2 plan to your existing Value Plus plan.

@jlstriker,
Er... U can't sign on the iData 2 plan with your DiGi Value First plan. U must first have an active Maxis voice plan before U can add on iData 2 to it.

@jlstriker,
AhHh.. oKies - sorry I don't really keep myself abreast with Maxis plans. Anyhow, U should be able to latch the iData plan with this Value First plan biggrin.gif

@Jcvendetta,
iData 1 doesn't give you rebate off the price of the iPhone 3GS. U also don't have to be locked in with a contract period with iData 1.

Also I've NO idea Y u people are saying it's no longer to purchase the i3GS via the Hotlink prepaid method. It's still possible except U aren't allowed to pre-book; as stock levels are low only those who's signing on a plan will be given preference to purchase the i3GS. Those wanting to purchase via the Hotlink Prepaid outright package will just have to wait till there's adequate stocks.

@Jcvendetta,
Yes U can cancel the iData 1 plan at anytime so I guess after the 1st month U can cancel it lah. It's not the same as the Hotlink package because the Hotlink package gives you 500MB of data services FREE p/month for 12 months.

@Jcvendetta,
Y would U want to latch on an iData plan if you're getting the iValue plans; in the iValue plans, U oredi paid for X amount of data usage. U might as well go with a ValuePlus 30 plan + iData 2.

@avars,
U will be charged separately when U send an MMS but when U download the MMS the size of the MMS will be included in as part of ur iData plan.

@vectorian,
No the plans aren't pro-rated on a day to day basis. It's only pro-rated for the 1st month when U sign up. For example, ur bill cycle is 5th of the month, that means U have up to 4th of the following month to spend whatever your plan is. If you've signed up and purchased your iPhone on 2nd of the month, your plan will be pro-rated for the 1st month.

@gyver & megatron007,
Chances are that U won't be successful in getting ur i3GS tomorrow if U just do a walk-in COD. Booking periods at the moment are about 25-30 days.

@edeon1,
If Ur using ur Wifi network and not using EDGE/3G, U won't be charged.
If Ur Wifi network disconnects, ur phone will automatically connect via EDGE/3G.
If U have disabled 3G on ur i3GS, ur phone can still connect to EDGE; the connection is just slower.
If U want to totally cut off 3G/EDGE/data services from ur iPhone 3GS, please refer to http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/868281

@edeon1,
You were charged RM800 just on data charges?! I thought there was a cap limit of RM250?! Or maybe that's for those who's oredi subscribed to some form of data charges.

I sure hope Maxis doesn't make a blunder with mine cause I terminated my RM99 Unlimited Plan to sign up for iData 2 when I collected my i3GS. Ah well... will know soon when the bill comes in about 2 weeks time *grins*

@edeon1,
That being the case, even your call charges will be affected because the iValue plans include RMX for call charges + RMX for data charges. Better check ur bill properly and don't let Maxis benefit from their mistake *smiles*

Am glad however U got everything sorted out *grins*

@zeropulse,
By right when ur plan will be activated upon the collection of ur i3GS (or about 2-3 hours thereafter) hence U shouldn't be slapped with a bill for data charges if ur usage is within what's stipulated in ur plan. I suggest U contact Maxis re the discrepancy in ur bill.

@wen9x88,
U ought to weigh the pros and cons on ur own; we can't tell U which is best but if I had to work 1.5k for a phone, it wouldn't be an old phone.

@hellwaker,
Cheapest in what sense?! It's the cheapest because U aren't locked into a contract. But there's no rebate on the i3GS.

@finecut,
Don't post twice next time; just wait it out for someone for to reply U or call up Maxis for the information tongue.gif

- To pre-book the i3GS U will need to put in a RM200 non refundable deposit.
- U can use the RM200 deposit to offset the price of the i3GS upon collection of phone
- No, Maxis is closed on Merdeka Day; MEP outlets at malls MAY be open
- Yes U can get it at APR/MEP/Maxis

@mac.tay,
It may be possible though apparently there's been some handsets going for RM1.2k. I sold my i3G for almost RM2k smile.gif

@airbag_grado,

1) Yes U can port from DiGi to Maxis to purchase the i3GS
2) Am not sure if ur existing prepaid credit can be brought over but it would be weird if it's possible since those monies weren't paid to Maxis
3) If U don't want to commit urself to a voice plan; RM30 p/month or something I think U can always port in from DiGi to sign up on the Standard Plan & then just link the iData 2 plan on ur iPhone 3GS. The iData 2 plan will give u 500MB of data p/month and that should be more than suffice. It will also cost u RM50 for that.

@airbag_grado,
I think the entire port-in process takes between 24-72 hrs hence U can do the port in just before U pick up the i3GS? Best to check with the Maxis people biggrin.gif I somehow don't think U'll be able to get back those credit; but otherwise if U don't mind changing numbers; then just buy the i3GS via the Maxis Hotlink prepaid method; that way U don't have to spend extra RM50 p/month to buy the 500MB data since it comes free for the first 12 months biggrin.gif That's RM50x12 = RM600 savings --> so U can use that to offset the cost of the i3GS.

@mac.tay,
I foresaw there'll be a lot of secondhand sets available so I sold mine earlier smile.gif If you're willing to sell it off at RM1.2k, I haf a buyer - please PM me *smiles*

Alternatively, put up a thread at Garage Sales and see if U can find a buyer smile.gif I doubt U be able to get it sold for more than RM1.8k today but it's worth a try *shrugs*

@aztechx,
Am not sure what the prices in UK are but U probably can find cheaper handsets just that they'll be 2nd hand plus U can't guarantee it'll be an officially unlock handset. RM1190 doesn't seem expensive for an i3G if it's a brand new set coming from Maxis bearing in mind that also gives U local warranty [except I don't think Maxis sets are RM1190]

The RM100 monthly commitment is split 50:50 with RM50 use for voice calls + RM50 for data services. Anything above the RM50 voice usage U will haf to pay extra and SMSes too.
