Guys, I need some help. I don't know where to post and I have no any idea how it could happen. It drain my battery although in stand by mode. My Usage time is exactly same with Stand by time. I'm using ios 4.2.1 on iphone 3gs. Any idea what is happening?

yup... mine also same.. googled it for whole day..

closes push notification, mail push off, mail manually, restore...

problem still persist.. anybody with solution care to share? draining about 50% in about 13hours >.<

just curious if anyone out there had this 1% drop ovenight experience or not, not airplane mode of cos, if yes, please let me know what you did to your iphone and what setting you made or maybe your firmware.
My best record for 7to8hours was dropped 3-5%..no wifi no BT no push no cellular data no ping no apps running background, what about yours?

3g drains battery faster.. I dunno if ur on standby will it still affect the battery usage.. But if ur using it.. Drains much faster than wifi

Am using iphone 4 with iOS 4.3.2, is dropping 1% in few minutes using wifi normal to iphone 4 ??? Its digi set btw Everything is off as well, 3G & Cellular data off, push email off, 3G off Btw, is it normal when u charge the phone and it gets a little heats up ??

I think it's the iOS4 problem.
Mine is exactly same as yours, just that it's on iOS4.3.1 with 3Gs jailbroken.

I off wifi, 3g, edge, notification, location, bluetooth, and all apps..
and put on StandBy mode (locked screen)

the battery STILL drains around 1% every 2 minutes!
and the worst thing is

the LCD screen is sooooo hot.

haih! better off the whole phone like this..

hmm.. or maybe it's my phone, will try and restore back again and see if the problem still occurs.

Its quite normal for heat ups during charging, even you're not using it.

yesterday i leave my phone on with 3g + data + wifi..

are u sure bro? i left my fon on wifi+lock screen on 100%, when i woke up in the morning its go down to 80% only

Do you need a battery replacement? I know where you can do it

Are you using a 3Gs? It's well known that leaving it on will reduce the battery life by 10% an hour. If you're on 4.3.1, even connecting it to Wifi will reduce the battery life (this does not happen on 4.3.2 or 4.2.1)

My advice is for you to update to the latest iOS, and if you're not using 3G, switch it off.

i using iphone 4 digi set and since the day i bought the phone my battery drain very fast whenever i use apps or facebook. basically is normal usage just fb and phone charge 1 time per day if got games sometimes twice a day.

the apps i use the most is talking tom, normally for my son to play,

and every time i charged the phone, the phone itself will be quite hot if i use sync and charge using pc it wont hot.

can anyone advise me should i bring my phone back to digi to claim?

You have 3G on all the time? This will drain the battery really fast and also heats up the iphone (which will further drain the battery)

Switch off the 3G if you're not using it. Also update to the latest firmware 4.3.3 as it specifically mentions that there is an improvement in battery life with this firmware.

For those having problem with usage = standby

no solution, just restore the firmware


Just updated to 4.3.3 yesterday, upon restore, i could sense the iphone is using itself cause the usage time is moving even on standby. Well, worst scenario is restore back to 4.2.1

normally if using 3g all the time..how many hours iphone 4 battery will long last?

Problem with that is, on EDGE + certain cell towers (especially with Sialcom), data will PREVENT Calls and SMSes from coming in. Heck, the same thing's happening to me on 3G.

Not that it matters much. With a proper battery pack/case you should be able to last 2-3 days with normal usage.

I get 1.5 days under heavy use with 3G constantly on (and a whole bunch of battery sucking crap from Cydia) , so no issues here, even when I'm actually running the older 4.2.1.

One thing I've noticed from playing with my friends' IOS devices tho: NOBODY seems to know how to quit apps when they're not using it.

Maybe this is something related to why a lot of people are seeing very bad battery lives? Normal users anyway.
