Anybody happen to know what HEDGEHOG being called in Malay?  It's not Landak rite?
Having difficulties explaining to some of my colleague what exactly this animal is

Yo, Hedgehog is not originated within our region, I dont think there is malay name for it rclxub.gif

But, if you look at any dictionary (translated) it is refered as "Landak" still

Maybe i should stick to "hedgehog" word when describing it to people biggrin.gif
anyway, what substrate do u guys used for your hedgehog? at the moment i used pine woods shaving but it seems my hedgie doesn't really like it..
he will squash away all the wood shaving at the spot where he intend to sleep.he prefer to sleep on the clean flat surface...
Also he always scratching his belly/tummy like the wood shaving make him feel itchy all the time...already check there's no mites so far...
at first i used newspaper but my hedgie will dig it out & bite it. The newspaper also tend to get dirty easily with his poop/pee... rclxub.gif

Actually pine wood is not good for them. So you better change it to Chipsi Classic Pet Bedding (without scent), Breeder Celect, or the best is Back-2-Nature Small Animal Bedding & Litter.

I've been trying few types of beeding for my hedgies before, I think its prefered either fleece or newspaper (but it is hard to get the unprinted one or u may use the flip chart paper).

MIne also like to sleep in its sand box provided for pee & Poo rclxub.gif . Of course he pee & poo elsewhere doh.gif .

If u guys use fleece or newpaper, would your hedgie bite and tear down the bedding? Would they try to dig it out and hide under the bedding?

where can i get this fleece from? is it being sold in petshop also.... notworthy.gif

They will dig and hide underneath. So you hav to stick the fleece on the bottom of your cage.

Btw, i don really encourage people use newspaper as bedding. It's very dirty, low absorbant power, inhygiene and the ink not good for their health too.

Fyi, pine wood are toxic for most of the small animals.

Fleece are avaiable at most of the supermarket/shopping mall.. blanket department.

Anyone willing to sell or spare a little bit of their earthbath oatmeal itch relief?

Pupi has been scratching herself and I already ordered one but petshack is outta stock and I'm still waiting for it but I don't want her daily activities to be waking up and scratching.

I am willing to pay.

I went to Giant this afternoon, there's original fleece (i think tongue.gif ) sold at RM40 for size of normal blanket...
But there's cheaper option which is Polyester fleece priced at RM14 for the same size...i rub & squeeze these 2 fabrics but as beginner i failed to spot any differences... blush.gif

Can we used Polyester fleece as bedding???

with one look yes there is no difference but polyester is not good at absorbing, but still you can fix it for it warm up or playing.

I see, i see...better look for 100% wool fleece then rite?
Just started potty training yesterday, i put one of his stool inside the litter box as 'marking' for him...
first my hedgie dig out some of the litter sand from the box doh.gif ...
then he went inside litter box laying/sleep around there doh.gif ...it's not gonna be easy i guess cry.gif any tip or advise??

And, is hiding box compulsory?? i noticed my hedgie spent most of his time sleeping outside the hiding box?
i just used cheap 2 liter ice-cream tupperware as hiding box laugh.gif

You can either choose silent spinner or wobust... i don think you got other options. Unless u import the wheel yourself, but it gonna cost you a big bomb.
