True, especially late last year, they had a buy 3 for 2 offer and they had all the Disney titles as well. Too bad I did not have a region free player that time, shd have bought.

I doubt it. Normally all BD players from the big brands are not region free.

Mmmm.. if there's a way to make PS3 play region free.....

So far only available in S'pore. Before, I've never heard of it, but it's a good American made...

You can check on the region B BD to see if it is region free below so that it can be played on the Region A player http://bluray.liesinc.net/index.php?region=b

Actually even for Oppo it is not region free from the factory. However you can do a hardware hack to make it region free. Some shops like SLT will do the hack for u (extra charge of course) and you can buy the hacked Oppo from them. If you buy direct from Oppo it is not hacked.

Even for other BD players there are third parties out there who can do or sell the hardware hack.

Why they region lock the movies in the first place?

PS3 blu-ray games are not region lock, why movies?

cause due to the release time of the movie in theater in different region...

Just curious, how much u guys spend on BD movies per month? I m setting a limit of RM 500 but this month has exceeded the amount..sigh.

movies are released on different schedule in diff regions......games are usually global release

Dats right, but then again you wouldn't want to buy direct from Oppo ie., it'll be from US... then there's other issue like 'stepping down' power and etc. to consider. In S'pore, most shop selling this Oppo model already being hacked, so no problemo... and the warranty still stand from the seller, at least. Just wish, if it will be sold here in M'sia too...

And yes, if only anyone can hacked PS3 to be region-free... is there such a service here? But actually I'm more concern with PS3 (or a BDp) to be DVD region-free rather than BD, since most of my BD purchases are from US [Region A] anyway. But when BD titles like HellBoy 2; where the 2nd disc is a DVD, I can't play 'em on my PS3... have to switch to my "non-upscaler" DVDp, which is a letdown....

Considering I just kena bitten by the bug less than a month, I've already spent close to RM1k. Moving forward, was thinking maybe set monthly budget of RM300-500 or 3 to 5 titles
