QUOTE(miccy @ Jun 30 2009, 01:36 AM) I think what Blatter said is right regarding to the environment in the English league, not because i am an RM fan (which is very obvious). I mean, look at Man City, they can spend with all the money in the world, just because their owners are mega-multi-billionaires. It's not fair considering the money is come from their own wealth instead of footballing aspect. The sport is subjected to an industry, and this one to capitalism, and we all know that capitalism is not precisely quite equal, but it's the rules that we are playing with. While RM being criticized for spending big, they actually pursuing up a loan which can be covered by their assets. Football club in Spain like Barca are backed up by their members (or i can say the owners) which comprising to 142k of people as they has the rights to vote for their president. While the president is in charge, he has no rights whatsoever to fund his own wealth running through the club which is fair considering that he will only use the club's fund that are generated through various football revenue stream and settle the club debts with financial strategies etc. Unlike in England, the fans has no power regarding to their beloved club. Well, it's just what i think right now, i might be wrong. What about the current crop of stars? Sneijder isn't a star? VDV? Robben?I think you didn't understand what Mr Blatter trying to point out. Still losing the league? the season is not even started for Perez's 2nd edition (2009-??) of Galacticos, or you are pointing out on the 1st edition (2000-06)? I thought RM won 2 La Liga and 1 CL with those superstars in the first three years before Makelele n Del Bosque left. What's the difference in having loans that can buy all the players that they want and have the money to buy all the players? Yes, you need to service the debt. What's wrong in having more money to buy ready made players? Need I pointed out on how RM has spent around £150m for both Kaka and Ronaldo only? Blatter and co has been biased. No doubt. I found it strange when money was thrown like nothing for those two. Good for us, we have the £80m and £55m for Milan. No doubt that can help us clear the debt. But PL clubs also generating money by selling shirts and whatnot to the fans. What's the difference in what is RM doing? So whenever any PL clubs are buying or selling out of the order price .. only Blatter and co make noises ah? I thought he could've have make noises like years ago when BIG PL clubs are being bought by Yanks or any other people. If Perez or whomever can play FM, why not these oil tycoons? |

QUOTE(onepack @ Jun 30 2009, 11:58 AM) to be fair i think people should understand what blatter really meant.. its not above spending power or big transfer money Perfectly understands what he meant. Regarding the ownership of the club. But let me just highlight one thing, they have elections in La Liga clubs while here, in England they have total ownership. When someone said there's no power to the fans they are dead wrong, out of nowhere there's FC United. And how people have been boycotting the Glazers when they came to United back then. Fans always have the last say. If there's no fan in Manchester, where would the support come from?he was talking bout the method of owning clubs in England putting the Premier League at an advantage compared to their major European counterparts for long term future of football he may hv a point there.. imagine what happen to city n chelsea keep happening to other premier league team imagine someone as rich or richer and dont mind spending their own money for transfer buying club like everton, villa, spur or the like of hull, boro, west brom things are different elsewhere at other league.. but i still fan of BPLÂ To be honest, I don't really give a damn if Pompey, Villa or whatever club is being bought by tycoons. They can afford it, so what? Fans will still be fans and supporters. As a matter of fact, this will help the club thus league being more competitive. Marketable? Hell yes! And this will attract big talents and names to come and play. What Blatter or his BF Platini are doing is trying to kill English clubs. I don't see any difference when Perez or Abramowich is in charge of a club. Perez promises the fans to get this set of players and so does Abramowich. The only difference is the money source. I do believe that because of Abramowich, Chelsea has just step up and market their club better despite of glory hunters. Big money transfers will kill the small clubs? Take a good look at Valencia. In Spain, I believe only Barca and RM have the most say over transfers while others are having problems in getting big names to play for them. Isn't the same scenario happens in any other leagues? So, what's wrong with tycoons buying smaller clubs. They chose EPL because it's marketable and it's in ENGLISH. Audience from all around the world can easily understand what are being saying and so on. So, what's wrong with having an oil tycoon to pay for your club? They still have to generate money to cope with their losses. We've seen that with Chelsea. It's not like they aren't doing something about it. Funny how Blatter and Platini can talk so much while being biased on non-English clubs. 6+5 rule? Great idea but take a good look at current RM lineup? Or maybe Barca which barely even have 6 Spanish in their side. Toure, Henry, Messi, Alves and Eto'o aren't exactly Spanish are they? This post has been edited by boxsystem: Jun 30 2009, 12:26 PM |

QUOTE(onepack @ Jun 30 2009, 01:16 PM) highlight la liga hv election does not change the fact that english club hv an edge of total ownership different than other league club. if english club only compete in their own competition it will be no problem n fair but u got european club competition too.. Big money kills small clubs. I wonder how can you claim something like that. Just take a good look on transfers activity. Big name players wouldn't want to come if lucrative offers aren't there, right? Take a good look at Barry. Last season he wanted out of Villa due to Champs League spot, yet this post-season he went to City which was placed 10th last season. Although, I would like to reiterate that big money DOESN'T guarantee successes. You still need good understanding among everyone in a club.as a fan i also dont give a damn bout tycoon buying other club.. that is why blatter is the president of FIFA while we just a fan of football. to attract big player coz of club statue, history, reputation, winning ability is definately positive but only coz of money that not good for football as a sport. to say blatter trying to kill english club for me is just short minded, selfish and nonsense.. no different between perez or abramovich? then only difference is money source? big money wont kill small club.. maybe only put pressure for them to keep competing against big club. tycoon choose english club not just coz its marketable and its english but also coz THEY CAN!! they cant buy other league club to hv total ownership and power elsewhere. its simply if u got the money u can be owner of a club it not bout wrong or rite.. it his money its up to him la. it just not fair to other league and it could ruin or atleast change how football should be. correct me if i'm wrong but i think 6+5 rule the 6 is for homegrown not only countrymen. also chelsea still making losses.. abromovich want to win, city owner want to make the club biggest in manchester,england.., glazer want make money n keep running biznes. not possible one day super rich owner came just to hv fun and show his money.. this just my opinion.. TQ Why do you think arsenal fans are having problems with that bolded part? if that rule is being implemented(which of course, I don't have any problems with it coz United is safe), Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal will be having problems. Maybe even Barca and RM despite of many qualities in Spain. Read this statement below. QUOTE(Wikipedia) Platini has recently backed the 6+5 idea, six home international players and five foreign players, to be introduced in top flight teams in Europe. Platini has also backed caps on wages, transfer spending - both absolute and as a fraction of club turnover - and foreign ownership of clubs. Homegrown? Don't think so. The bolded part on wages and transfer spending? What do you make of RM now? They've gotta learn that FOOTBALL IS BUSINESS nowadays. Even they're(UEFA&FIFA) making money out of it. So, saying they're being biased towards English club are not so stupid and childish eh? This post has been edited by boxsystem: Jun 30 2009, 02:11 PM |

Pjanic - Benzema to join Utd
www.skysports.com QUOTE Miralem Pjanic claims Lyon team-mate Karim Benzema is close to completing a £38million move to Manchester United. Benzema has been a long-term target for United, with Lyon prepared to listen to offers if the France international expresses a wish to move. Reports had previously claimed that Benzema was willing to spend one more season with Lyon in order to maximise his prospects of playing at the 2010 World Cup. However, he could now be on his way to Old Trafford after Pjanic revealed the 21-year-old is ready to link up with the Premier League champions. Nearly gone "Benzema is nearly gone to Old Trafford," Pjanic told Bosnian website Sportsport. "The English club are willing to pay €45million (£38million) for him and it is just a question of the day when he will move to England. "He does not have anything against going to Manchester. Our side will be reinforced by Lisandro Lopez, the Argentine forward from Porto." Real Madrid and Arsenal had also been linked with the striker, but it appears United have won the race to sign the coveted Benzema. United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is striving to replace Carlos Tevez following the end of the Argentine's two-year loan and Benzema looks to be his top target. Ferguson has money to spend following the sale of Cristiano Ronaldo to Real Madrid and wrapped up the signing of Antonio Valencia from Wigan Athletic on Tuesday evening. Fingers crossed guys! |

Uhh come on la bro. It's MARCA who has been claiming Madrid has successfully signed Ronaldo like yearsssss ago. We'll see how things go through. I really think it's a smokescreen for Alonso, Arbeloa and Ribery.
