Try the N96 if it's an option. Shouldn't be a problem - my Opera mini runs great but crashes on occasion.

Added on July 7, 2009, 5:08 pmBTW, confirmed 5800 meetup is at REPUBLIC, Sunway Pyramid.

the green noise is a "cosmetic" problem rather than a "functional" one
so far images snapped do not display the green noise. it's only wat appears on the screen

hence it's not urgent to go get it replaced if you don't have the time
i was fine living with it until i read in this thread that i can be fixed. so if you're a 'perfectionist' and 'anal' about these things then go get it fixed but otherwise you can just live with it if you can
on a side note, garminXT is such an awesome software to play with.
on another side note, battery life really does suck, especially when you're playing with the BT, Wifi, and GPS
*
If it doesnt effect the quality of picture taken i rather not bring it to NCC... coz who knows wut they goin to do wit our tube there... Like one of the forummer here went n fix oni to hav another problem came up... i rather keep the unit i have in the condition i pick from the shop.

My tube is "AP set" bought RM1080. If I want to drop stand and tv cables, I could get another RM50 less.

What wrong with AP? It's still original and paid for tax. AP is different from "underwater"!
*
if i were u.. i get the ori set at RM1150... only 70bucks differents wat...
somemore with ori set, you get all those accesories + warranty from nokia....
with AP, you can't send it to NCC for repair lioa..... if anything wrong u need to find 3rd party repairer and bear the cost on ur own....
hmmmmm... save so little and pay much more later for repair... why leh???

Some updates about experiences with Nokia Care Center (Melaka Branch).

First of all, my GF brought her 5800XM to them yesterday due to

1. LCD display problem (one whole line of pixels were much dimmer than the rest)
2. Memory card corruption problem

Result is,
1. They replaced the LCD display, looks great now.
2. Memory card was replaced as well. I don't know which class it is since it is not printed.

Above is the picture of the card replacement given. I tried transfering files to it, seems much faster than my C2 Nokia memory card. So I assume it might be a faster or maybe class 4 card perhaps.

EDIT: Seems like there's only 8GB class 4 coming from PNY, http://www3.pny.com/8GB-Micro-SDHC-Class-4...d-P2734C44.aspx

Okay, here's the problematic part which might interest those whose interested in getting their camera module replaced due to the green lines.

Second issue,

My brother went to the NCC as well to fix the camera module problem. He explained clearly to the receptionist and then the phone was left inspected by the technician. Phone was then sent to my house since it is quite nearby.

When my brother fitted his memory card in, he booted it up and for some reason, gallery and the rest cannot detect any files from his memory card! (It is a Nokia C6 card btw.). Funny enough, it is accessible through the file manager. Weird. I suggested to him to reinstall the firmware to see if it still happens or not.

Bro wah chai and gurdian, is it possible for you guys to sort of gimme the reference number of your receipt or something? I think I'll ask my brother to like instruct the Melaka NCC to call up to BB and 1U NCC for better clarification.

ps, and no, the green lines appear when taking picture, so it isn't just cosmetic problem.

about the greenish problem when u close ur camera.....it happens in my camera as well...i can see the greenish in my phone LCD .

BTW, when i take the totally dark picture...the greenish artifact DO can see in my computer monitor...sight. so it MAY affect the IQ of your camera.

anyway...i try cover the main camera on a flat table...and SWITCH to video mode...no more greenish artifact...i cant see it in my phone LCD.

and then, i record a 5 second video when i cover it...the greenish artifact can be seen in my computer monitor as well.

Anyway...i am not surprise by those green noise artifact...noise do happens in such a tiny sensor...Heck, even those noise can even be seen in real digital camera when u taking picture/video in really low light condition.

Even the camera module is change, i also dun expect miracle happens and your IQ substantially improve.(still waiting who had changed the camera module to prove it though....haha)

The only thing that is bugging me is that the my C2 memory card is corrupting...it is killing me. My songs went missing for no reason. cry.gif

You can exchange the memory card, well at least NCC Melaka lets u do that. But not giving u another Nokia card, but PNY instead. Looks like a C4 memory card.

LOL, comparing the PNY does about 2.81mb/s according to my gf transfering videos over, and i tested my brother's Nokia C6, only peaking at about 2.34mb/s or so. (Ok.. at least better than the poor C2 which is mine that does like 1.6mb/s only dry.gif)

After lurking at this thread for months, I finally got myself a gray tube from e_trade. Interface is really intuitive and easy to get into (my previous phone was 6680). Now downloading dictionaries smile.gif

I'm not sure how good this PNY is, but it is much faster than a Nokia C6. Maybe I'll warranty mine on Saturday perhaps biggrin.gif.

I still use alphanumeric, but love touch screen (like no need much force to press the keys).
