I have 2 frens who owned dis hp and i received "dangerous" review from them.
They said prolong use of dis phone will cause dizziness. Dey said the culprit may be the radiation of the phone. After hearing dis, im seriously considering over again the intention to purchase dis hp.
Hope to hear some comment from u guys...

Not surprising that you're getting shot at by our 5800 fanboys here over your remark instead of rational facts. According to Nokia, 5800 SAR value when used at the ear is 0.97 W/kg. For US and many other countries, the limit is 1.6 W/kg or 2.0W/kg, so the 5800 is still pretty safe and way below the danger point.

For your reference:

Hope this helps! smile.gif

The car charger included in e_trade_pj's package is 890mAh. Made in China. Maybe it's ori... hmm.gif

BTW, I also got 8GB class 6 memory card from him. Lucky rclxm9.gif

u can try playing with those hp at phone shop? or ask ur fren to pinjam u theirs?

my college have tons of ppl using tube... so that shows the tube popularity... flex.gif

Or can play at Nokia shop. I played with the 5800 at Nokia 1Utama few times before. Sometimes the staff don't bother me and that suits me just fine. I also tried asking about 5800 at Nokia Low Yat Plaza, and when I mentioned outside price is RM1200 (at that time), the Nokia staff just says "oh that is recond set, you never know, bla bla bla". I just left.

Maybe you can refer here:

Skyfire and Teashark seems to be quite popular. Supports Flash and stuff.

Opera Mobile is a smartphone app which supports multiple tabs. It costs $24. There's a 30-day trial.
Opera Mini is a Java app. It's free.

Guys,

I've tried out the Zune Converter as recommended on the FP. However, when I select a target video size, the source video will be shrunk/stretched to match the selected size. I couldn't find any "keep aspect ratio" options. Imagine, converting a 640x480 video to 640x350 will make everything shrunk vertically. Any help?

by switching off Assisted GPS..yr GPS will still work... just slower and weaker signal...

From what I've read in this thread, Assisted GPS will retrieve the satellite positions from your telco so you don't have to locate them in the sky yourself... once located and locked, there is no difference with or without AGPS.

QUOTE(simonhtz @ Jul 17 2009, 10:22 AM)
Hi guys,

Do you guys happened to know how to transfer SMSes from Phone Memory to Memory Card? I had quite a number of SMSes that are in Phone Memory, and I wanted to consolidate everything in my memory card, but I can't seem to find the right function to transfer everything over. I looked into phone memories directory via Mass Storage, but can't find the path, any idea here guys?
*
Does this work?
Messaging -> Settings -> Other -> Memory in use

Now my turn with problems. I've installed AP News and AccuWeather apps a couple of days ago. Now, suddenly I get 2 icons for each of the apps. I uninstalled the apps, but now one icon for each app still remain. I've tried to remove the icons manually but it says "file corrupted". Other than formatting the phone, what are my options?

If no options then I'll just move them into a new "Corrupted" folder sad.gif

Settings -> Personal -> Home screen -> Home screen -> check the Calendar option

Now your meetings, to do, etc for today and tomorrow will appear on your home screen smile.gif

Hmm, I tried after you mentioned it, seems that cannot display calendar events on homescreen if you choose to have the contact bar... doesn't seem logical to have this kind of limitation.

agps will charge once 10 cents to get a lock on right? they wont happy happy continue chargin right?

I believe the AGPS only retrieves the satellite positions from supl.nokia.com so you don't have to wait for your phone to locate them. Locking on is the same with or without AGPS. But maybe I'm wrong wink.gif

Some questions for you guys:

1) Where to get the CA-44 charger adaptor to use old chargers? Even e_trade_pj also not selling...
2) If I use an old Nokia charger, will it harm my 5800 battery? Old charger output is 500mA, while the 5800 charger is 890mA.
3) When typing in a Note, how to discard changes and not save it?
4) Anywhere to see and remove the custom words we've entered into the phone language dictionary? My old SE could do this.
5) When typing with Prediction on, the asterisk key scrolls Next options for possible words. How do I scroll Previous words?
6) Search function - it fails to search some of my Notes. For example, I have a Note called Shopping List. If I search for Shopping, it doesn't return results. I search for other words, it can successfully find the related SMS and Notes. Why?
7) Anybody experienced sporadic strong haptic feedback? I poke around the phone with the stylus, my vibrate set to level 1, sometimes it will feel strong like level 3 (just once), then normal again at level 1.

BTW, someone in a previous post said Handbrake can include subtitles in external files, actually it cannot. According to Handbrake guide, "HandBrake can only read subtitles from DVDs. It cannot work with subtitles when reading other files. "

Thanks for the reply, toughnut. I couldn't find any related threads at Garage Sale when I searched for "CA-44" sad.gif also, when I said undo changes in Notes, I meant undo changes done to an existing Note... is it possible? Like I open a Note, accidentally highlighted and deleted 2 lines, so I wanna close without saving/undo.

i am still thinking whether or not to get this phone, since the review is so good.
now i only need a little bit convince from all of you why should i get this phone.
tot want to get a iphone but the package is way to not reasonable.
thanks very much for your comment !!!

PS: any place where i can get a reasonable zitron ?
*
I was in your shoes, man. Surveyed and lurked in this thread for months. Finally gave in and now own a black tube.

PROS:
Big screen, high resolution, touch screen
GPS, wifi (extra nice with big screen)
Cheap for the features
Good music quality (although not my consideration, almost never used it for music)
Large user base, easier to find help and accessories, possibly more updates and fixes from Nokia
Narrow (not wide like iPhone), easier for one-handed operation (personal preference)

CONS:
lousy camera for a 3.2MP

BTW: any Digi user here using the MSN Live Messenger? The one capped at RM3 per month? Seems like 5800 is not in the list of supported phones. Anybody tried it anyway?

When I change my SMS storage to E:, the phone offers to move all my SMS in C: to E:. Now that I want to change back to C:, it doesn't offer to move my SMS. How do I move them?

Just bought a CA-44 charger adaptor from Lowyat for RM10. Now can use old chargers with new phone. Yay smile.gif

Original Nokia one is RM39. Not sure what the difference is. No circuits, no nothing...
