I feel bad for my cat right now sad.gif . He desperately wants to get out but from the time being, he can't. We've just discovered that there's a snake near our housing area. Especially my lane because we are the last one and the back is basically a forest. Well, kinda tongue.gif

And I think one of my cat got eaten by a snake here a few weeks ago. Right now I just let my cat, Bobo to get out about 15 minutes with someone watching him and them take him back inside.
*
Oh my! That is dangerous for you and for your cat!
Why don't you go and buy some sulphur and spread it all around outside your house compound.
This will stop the snake from entering your compound as they do not like sulphur.
Do this on a weekly basis and hopefully on the long run they will go away and never come back.
Good Luck.

Sulphur eh? thats good information~! My mom's house is actually at a residential park, but last month we found a big fat ular sawa in our sewage...it became quite a mystery how the snake end up there...might follow your petua to avoid any unwanted encounters..

but, how to get/buy sulphur?
*
I got this information when I used to work in the hotel industry.
Our resort is near the jungle so we used to have snakes as well so I was informed to keep them away is to 'tabur' sulphur all around the area that you don't want it coming in.
This will stop the snake from coming in.
If I am not mistaken you can buy from hardware shop la.... (I think la)

Here is some instruction that I got from the net :-

Instructions.Things You'll Need:
Powdered sulfur
1.1
Watch the yard carefully for two or three days to determine which areas the snakes are living in. This will allow you to treat only that area instead of the whole yard. Most snakes sleep during the middle of the day and come out in early morning or at dusk.

2.2
Remove any water sources from the area such as barrels full of water or bird baths. These provide drinking water for the snakes and will make them stay longer.

3.3
Purchase sulfur in powdered form at a home improvement store or garden center. The sulfur is located in the pest control section.

4.4
Open the sulfur and spread it in a line around the area where there is the most snake activity to create a barrier. The line should be approximately 6 inches wide and stretch around the area where you do not want the snakes to come.

hello everyone..

i want to ask, can i put the litter box in my kitten cage (right besides their sleeping area)?
they still not used using the litter box, how can i teach them to used it?

my kittens (i think) is 3weeks, got them when came home from college meowing beside the "longkang" at night...

Their mother abandon them, n don know why.. my sis take a pic of 4 of them last week with their mom (at neighbors' laundry basket beside the stair)..
i only find 2 don know where the other 2, hope they r safe.. (T_T)
i still looking around for the their bro/sis n mother n 2morrow will resume looking 4 them..

can someone give me advice how to feed n take care of them?
i give them sweetener milk mixed by warm water n whiskas kitten wet food n warm water..
they like the wet food but don eat much.. so worrying..

they have many n really big fleas at their fur n body.. one of them got so many eye discharge..

please advice, really need help here... (T_T)
thanks in advance.. (happy.gif)v
*
Hi Seleisha,

First of all how big is your cage?
If its too small then a litter box would take up quite a large amount of space.
Try to make sure that the cage is enough for a litter box and two kittens.

To train kittens to use the litter box, what I usually do is tear up a few bits of newspaper and put them on top of the sand in the litter box.
Or when you see any of the kittens wanting to do their business, quicky put them inside the litter box.
They will get the hang of it in a few days time.

To get rid of the fleas, get a bottle of frontline.
Spray frontline on a piece of cotton wool and rub it against the kittens fur all over the body from head to tail.
For eye discharge, cleanse the eye area with a wet cotton wool and put some teramycin (you can buy from a pharmacy) and see if it helps.
If it doesn't then bring it to the vet.
The kitten might have a cold. When kittens/cats have cold they will have excessive eye discharge.

Please stop giving them sweetned milk as this has no value for them.
You might want to go to a pet shop and get a milk substitute for cats and try to bottle feed them.
Reason they are not eating is because they might be still too young.

Try to put some of the food mixed with water into a syringe and slowly feed the kittens.
But please determine the age of the kittens first before doing that.

u guys knows any recommendable shop online for cats collar ?
i found catsndog.my and petsplace.com.my but dunno can be trusted onot
*
Hi Liquidsny,

I don't know any online shop selling cats collar but I know where to get cheap leather collars for your cats.
I usually buy my stuff direct from the supplier so I get cheap prices.
For a bling bling leather collar with bell, outside price I think RM20.00 but I can get it for RM12.00.
The collars come in different colors red, blue, white and green.
Its very long lasting compared to the woven type as when the cat stratches itself the collar will become in threads.... (berbulu).
Sorry I don't have any pictures of it but its definitely nice biggrin.gif

*
The brand Evo is considered a super premium cat food.
Of course its safe to consume.
Unlike Orijen which is not 'Halal' as it contains wild boar meat.

Hi Seleisha....

You are most welcome.

Your kittens are so CUTE! wub.gif
You are lucky to have found them and they lucky to have found you biggrin.gif

Glad to hear that.
Maybe they are not used to the new environment and that is why they were not eating much.
Judging from the picutres they look like one month plus or around two months.
Since the teeth has developed, I suggest you feed them with RC baby cat 34 kibbles which are tiny and easy for the small kittens to eat.

For your information RC is a super premium food and it is definitely good for your kitten thumbup.gif

Yes, Frontline and teramycin is safe for kittens and cats.

neway how much it cost for RC baby cat 34 kibbles?
r it expensive?
*
Yes, RC baby cat 34 is quite expensive.
I buy the repack packet for RM15.00 for about 450 grams only.
Costly but worth it. thumbup.gif
When they are bigger and the teeth more stronger, I changed the food to Blackwood Kitten.

what the best cat litter sand that i can get for indoor use?

i dun care the price.

-must good smell
-good clump
*
Hi Mr_47,

I have tried so many types of litter and recently found the best so far.
Its called 'Flushable Woody'.
Made of wood but shaped into pellets.
This litter is semi clumping.
Infact many of my friends used it and recommended it as its low in tracking (not dirty your floor) and definitely MUCH LESSER smell compared to the clay type.
I just started using it and boy it really does not smell as much as other litter I used before even after 5 days of using it.
Moreover its flushable and environmental friendly.
We buy in bulk as we have multiple cats.
One bag 25 kg (40 liter) is RM75.00
For 10 liter - RM27.00
For 5 liter - RM18.00

tq CutiePie69 where can i easily get it? tesco? jusco? petshop near pandan indah area? u guys bulk oder from who? hehe my grandma gonna come this weekend and i want my house looks n smells good.... help me
*
None of the above.
I and a group of friends usually buy direct from the supplier.
I am in charge of the ordering he..he....
What you can do also if you want your house to smell good...
Buy the softner, brand Downy.
They have many scents but you get the Romantica if I am not mistaken (purple bottle)
Take a empty spray bottle, put some of the softener inside and mix with water.
Spray on your curtains, cushion cover and anything made of cloth.
Fuh.... I am sure your grandmother will love the smell
And it lasts too.
Another version of Febreeze but cheaper and homemade ha..ha....
I do this and my whole house smell good.
Before entering my door I can even smell it.

Ok..ok... back to the liter part.
If you want you have to bank in to my account and I have to go and buy for you.
But the shop only open half day tomorrow.
So how?
I think you better try homemade febreeze first he..he..

Next solution is go to Pet Wonderland in Mid Valley or Great Eastern Mall.
Find the 'No Odor' spray that costs RM22.90
Spray on the litter box after cleaning and this will get rid of the urine smell too.
Don't spray too much if you using clumping liter or else when in contact the liter will get hard.
Just a few spray here and there and it will do the trick.
It works man!
I have tried it.

Happy trying thumbup.gif

Have anybody hear clicker train their cats?

My Luna is very energetic, and now he have become less obedient, I might need to teach him some basic disciplines like don't scratch furniture, don't go up the table and don't bite painfully while playing with peoples hands and feets...will clicker training work to correct his behavior?
*
Hi Kaoru Himura,

Google and read about it but sounds quite difficult as you need a lot of patience and time to train the cats.
For me simple as I have 14 cats.
When I see them climbing up the dinner table, I will give them a little smack and raise my voice saying 'NO'.
After a while they get the hang of it.

As for scratching furniture, there are a few options e.g. buying scratching post for them to scratch or a spray to stop them from scratching or you can use the same tactic which is saying a stern NO to them when you see them scratching.

Cats are like kids. When you raise your voice and say NO they will understand.
My cats do he..he...

cutiepie69...the Flushable Woody cat litter is semi-clumping u say? how does thath works? the pee doesnt clump?
*
Hi Mizeily,

Ni akk Nurul la......
Yes, the liter will clump however the clump will not be as hard as the liter clay.
So when you scoop up the wet liter you will need to be careful when you shake the scoop to get rid of the dry liter as the wet liter will crumble when shake too hard.

QUOTE(sshlady @ Oct 23 2010, 12:09 AM)
hello everybody ~

I need your opinion. I just adopted 3 kittens about 3 weeks ago aged about 2 mnths. My problem is, they didnt eat dry food much, especially the youngest. i give them wetfood twice a day, before i go to work & after i get back from work, all the while leaving a bowl of kibbles. i bought blackwood kitten and they eat so little. i also bought friskies they seem to like it more than BW.i also bought whiskas they didnt touch it much. mixed it with wet food, soak in water, i did everything i could but they dont seem to eat them well. what do i do?

i need them to eat dry food too coz i work long hours and so kesian the kitties if they starve themselves while im working T_T
i always come back home and they run to me, starving.
im planning to buy RC this weekend, and if they dont eat that one too, im a my wit's end. advice needed.
*
Hi sshlady,

First of all your kittens are still too small to have been separated from their mother.
They should still be breast feeding.
Most appropriate age to adopt a kitten is when they are 3 months of age or when they have stopped breast feeding from their mother.
Secondly BW kitten kibbles are too hard for their small teeth and that is why they don't want to eat it.
Since they are two months of age you should get RC Baby Cat 34 as they are of tiny size and more suitable for kittens aged 2 months to 4 months if not mistaken.
Once they are bigger than you can feed them BW Kibbles.
What is best is give them wet food and mix some RC kibbles with the wet food.
If you want you can also pound the BW kibbles making it smaller and easier for the kittens to eat.

wow ur cat looks HUGE~! i want my luna to grow like that hehe...

I have a problem...i found a stray bengal kitten, i think she's just coming 1 month old, sitting in the middle of the road near my apartment. she is extremely thin, seems lost i can bring to leave her alone so i brought her her home, plan to feed her and monitor her for a week before letting her go (i was worried to keep stray cats with Luna because afraid with affect him in terms of his health)

1 thing i saw is she is so hungry, she ate alot but then, she will poo wevt watery and smelly orange color poo. I have also tried to toilet train her, but she poo other places instead, it was headache to clean and get rid of the smell. She is very cute though, and very manja.

She's going well with Luna too, until i think of keeping her with me, but then i realize luna is getting thinner (i am in a mission to pump him well before his next trip to the vet) and the to my nightmare, he also diarrhea, and his poo turns orange color and wet too~! he even vomit 2 times...I couldn't take it, i suspect the stray kitty's illness is infecting Luna, so i ley the poor kitty go...

I went to the vet with Luna yesterday, ther possibilty is whether he over eat, ate bad food, or virus infection...I wanna cry..he is still playing and eating, but he is as naughty as before, and it hurts to see him diarrhea n vomitting. I'm so worried...is this very serious? can luna recover completely?

sorry for the very long post...i'm just too worried and i dont know who to refer to cry.gif
*
Hi Kaoru Himura,

So sorry to hear about poor Luna.
I think Luna might have caught the stray's illness.
Question :- Has Luna been vacinated?
If yes.... then his antibody will be strong.

If you brought Luna to the vet. didn't the vet tell you what is wrong with Luna?
Based on your description of illness its very hard to say as we are not professional vets so we cant tell you what is wrong with luna.
For home remedial treatment for wet stools, give Luna boiled chicken meat (do not put any salt in the water when boiling). This will help to harden Luna's stool.

For future, when you bring home a stray, its best to quarantine the stray from your existing house pets first.
This is to avoid of contracting any illness from the stray animal.

Hope Luna will get well soon.

Hi Blasto,

Your neighbour is so cruel! mad.gif
What if someone cut off thier fingers... how would they feel?
I believe your neighbour cut off the whiskas so as it won't go off wandering... I heard from friends its a 'petua' if you don't want your cats to go wandering cut off their whiskers.
But its cruel.

Do you know that a cat whiskas are good for:

* Navigation
* Mood indication
* Measuring an opening

Whiskers help the cat feel his way around. Whiskers are so sensitive that they can detect the slightest directional change in a breeze. At night, for example, this helps a cat slink its way through a room and not bump into anything. How? The air currents in the room change depending on where pieces of furniture are located. As the cat walks through the room and approaches the couch, he'll know which direction to turn based on the change in air current around the couch.

In addition to having sensory properties, a cat's whiskers are also a good indicator of his mood. When a cat is angry or feels defensive, the whiskers will be pulled back. Otherwise, when the cat is happy, curious or content, the whiskers will be more relaxed and pushed forward.

But the whisker's primary use is to help a cat judge whether or not he'll fit through an opening. A cat's whiskers are roughly as wide as his body -- sort of a natural ruler. The whisker tips are sensitive to pressure. You'll probably see a cat stick his head in and out of an opening before he puts his body in. He's judging the width of the opening, and is determining if he can fit into it. An interesting note: cats don't have a true collar bone, like humans. This allows them to turn and twist their way through very narrow openings.

The cat wont die but it will be in discomfort for a while. Don't worry too much it will grow back.

I feel like cutting your neighbours hair and see how they feel without hair on their head!

Thanks for replying...

Yes Luna already got his first vaccination, this coming 30th he will get 2nd vaccination.

When I took him to the vet, doc said his weight and body is ideal (although I really feel Luna will be more handsome if he is a little chubbier, at 3 months he is now 1.08kg) Doc then ask how many time he do his business, and how is the stool, and also his appetite. Doc then took stool sample and examine it under microscope, doc said she did not find Corona virus inside the stool, in which doc said will be the worse case that might can Luna have...doc then asked me to monitor another 7 days to see if there is any improvement.

The medicine for Luna is liquid form immune booster, antibiotic and charcoal tablet.

I will follow your advise. I do hope he will get well soon...wish us the best ya~!
*
I think Luna will be ok since he is on the above medication.
If you want to fatten up little Luna, I suggest you give him boiled chicken breast 3 times a week and you will definitely see the weight gain as the chicken breast is full of protein.
You can also get Luna some vitamin B complex (small yellow round pills from the general hospital) to boost up his appetite.
Good Luck and Get well soon Luna!

i wish cat grow misai faster, cat look so innocent now.

can you please advise the below questions i got..

how do i keep cat not enter house door ?

should i feed cat till really fat ? (what  type food makes cat fat ? )
is it good for cat ? does other cat takut when see a big or fat cat ?

since cat arrived, i don't see any mouse/sussie mussie, lizard, or lipas around.
is the cat keep them away ?

many thanks..
*
Hi Blasto...

You are most welcome.
I am sure that the cat looks funny without his whiskers.
Poor little fella.

Well... to keep a cat out of your house, you will need to cat proof it.
Meaning.... put wire mesh on your door grill or windows.
This will help from preventing cats going in or outside your house.

If you need to fatten up your cat.... just feed it food that is high in protein e.g. kitten food, boiled chicken meat, raw meat or wet food on a daily basis. If you have enough budget feed your cat with Science AD which is full of nutrients. Or you can feed your cat with vitamin B complex (buy from general hospitals) to boost up their appetite. But REMEMBER, a fat cat will not be healthy and will have problems later in life.

I don't think any other cats will be afraid to see a fat cat tongue.gif

Hi Nash,

Sorry to hear about your cat.
Looks like its having flu.
Some of my cats are having flu too.
They are sneezing too.
I am not sure if your cat is having flu or not.
If it is sneezing and having red eyes, it could be flu.

Please refer to this thread at petfinder for home remedial :-

http://forums.petfinder.my/showthread.php?t=4977

But I would suggest you bring your cat to the vet for a proper check up. Better be safe than sorry. I brought mine to Dr. Teoh at Pandan Indah and it only cost me around RM35.00. So its not that expensive. Dr. Teoh is also open until 7.00 pm from Tuesday to Saturday. Sunday 10.00 to 5 pm. Monday they are close.

Good luck and hope your cat gets well soon.
