Problem arises when the dumbass at the pc shops set one same resolution for a whole rack of lcd screens. Pretty pointless, at that point, to compare them IMHO.

Not sure for the image quality, for specification AOC was take advantage. AOC come with height adjustment and cool design of outlook. You won't regret if you choose AOC. If you want see the diff, go to Plaza Lowyat !

Im using 2494HS for ps3, quality superb at 1080p.

CON:
- No hdmi cable, need to buy yourself (RM25 at SRI)

-The control panel REALLY SUX as other said in many forum (google it to find out).
Im not sure about my one, sometimes it freezed and didn't respond at all, need to reset the power to make it work again.
Luckily, you only need to set once, so no big deal.

- Also the panel so sux, they put it facing down, hard to see. No light, No rough surface, you need to bend down to see the button.
They said they do it on purpose because customer doesn't like to see button in the LCD

- No magictune vmad.gif. Magictune is the Samsung provided software for you to tune those setting without using the panel. I have an old samsung model 2253BW, it has magictune. Now they remove it, we have to stick with the lousy panel.

Other than that, and the price (RM750 during pc fair at Viewnet), its a great product.

hmm - i am stuck as to which to get and if it is worth the extra.

i am looking at getting an lcd 24".
my uses - photo edit & videos plus must have hdmi for hook up with ps3 or xbox360. i currently have an 1-2yrs old dell 22" which is great but limited connection and the colours not very accurate.

question - will i be disappointed if i just get the normal TN panel like the asus vh242 or shall i splurge more and get the 24" dell ultrasharp that cost 2x the asus? will the asus perform better than my existing dell? is there another non TN panel alternative to dell ultrasharp? i can't seem to find any non-tn lcd on sale at low yat. Thanks in advance smile.gif

edit: i do calibrate my existing monitor but the grey scale etc seems limited

can anyone recommend me a good screen size and resolution LCD monitor?

my requirements :

1. Watching RMVB / 700mb Avi movies/videos full screen.
2. Playing games at 1366*768 resolution with full settings coz im only using XFX 9600 GT 512mb, and still have good picture quality on the monitor.
3. screen size not too small. min 20"
4. superb color quality.
5. DVI/VGA and if possible HDMI.

They both share the same type of panel(23.6"WS CMO[Chi Mei Optoelectronics] TN Film (M236H1-L01)) on the inside. Mostly up to your choice of design nod.gif

Dreamworks: DCR stands for what... im using acer H233H ACM- Adaptive contrast management and hat bout GTG?

http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?act=Atta...post&id=1115853

They all point to the same thing, dynamic contrast. AOC/Samsung/most manufacturers call it Dynamic Contrast Ratio (DCR), Acer calls it ACM, LG calls it DFC, etc.

imho, it's pointless comparing DCRs between different brands for reasons I stated previously. GTG is the pixel's response time from grey-to-grey, but a more accurate means for measurement is black-to-white pixel response, which is typically 5ms.

Waah...reading your post makes me think twice about getting the 22" Dell UltraSharp2209WA. Is your 22" the IPS- In Plane Switching model?
I also need the color accuracy but no HDMI, no problem.

I have a RM1000 budget with me actually. I think I'm gonna change it (currently using DELL 17" LCD Screen, very satisfied with it) but I think I'm gonna go for a better screen.. but since the prices are dropping down like meteorites do you think I should keep the money and wait till touch screen and windows seven to come out first? Cuz I'm scared that LCD screens will be worthless in uhh... 2 years time?

plz advice!

cheers

hehe no need to worry, i've got the budget e228wfp. the problem with the 22in dell ultrasharp is it's not full HD & do not have hdmi. i need hdmi for ps3 connection option. the ultrasharp 24in is really nice with huge input choices but the prices is very steep.

Hi there, I am thinking to get a 23inches monitor which suits my budget.
I have 3 options here
LG W2361v-pf, Samsung P2350 and Acer H233H.
The prices for them are Rm750,Rm750 and Rm650 respectively.
All the monitors have 2ms response time, 50k contrast for LG and Samsung while Acer is 40k contrast. Touch key for all and LG has ambient light sensor and also HDMI port. The specs are almost identical and price also almost the same

My question is..which one do you prefer and why?
thanks alot

24" Dell Ultrasharp model is PVA model, cannot compared with TN model, surely price wise 2x then.

It is very difficult to find non-TN LCD out there as non-LCD model surely price wise cannot compete with TN model one. Nowadays, shops are more concentrate on price wise/war to lure customers.

That's very true anyway i settle for the asus vh242h. i figure the 2x price is not worth it as i am only a hobbyist (photography), unless i am a paid photographer then it's a different story. based on my use yesterday night the colour is much better than my older dell and there weren't much issue when calibrating. also my ps3 works great. only thing i dislike is the cheapo buttons hehe. anyway thanks for the input biggrin.gif
