They are not fully phased out yet and you can still find them in Low Yat Plaza. For example, Viewnet sells the 4:3 20" Samsung 2043SW. There's also the 19" Samsung 943NX and LG L1942T.

Hi, i need some recommendation for HDMI/DVI LCD for PS3/PC that support 1080p (16:9 resolution) and audio out.
I read somewhere that new samsung 2949HS is 1080p supported but cannot support PS3 1080p because different wiring (answer from yahoo). Kinda worry now, need some recommendation that really tested with PS3.

Viewsonic VX2433WM would support PS3 gaming with 1080p. read it before i bought it. Am using it now but still didnt get my PS3 get. after FF13 released next year then only I'm getting PS3.

I got this monitor too. But somehow, my older 932B+ seems to be superior in colour quality.
The viewing angle from up and bottom (vertical) viewing angle is quite bad or is it just the newer monitors cuz my older 932B+ is much better in terms in vertical viewing angle.

The next closest thing to the 2433BW is the 2333SW. Wonder if anyone is selling the 2433BW at Garage Sales.

using 2494hs for 1 week now, and i'm satisfied with it, though i have not tried with ps3 yet, but after reading ur mail, i went to look for other sources regarding ps3 and this particular monitor

here's some other sources which says it works fine with ps3 at @1080p

http://www.ps3za.co.za/forum/showthread.php?t=26491

http://www.take2.co.za/discuss.php?id=4368280

confirming with another forumer who's using the monitor with ps3, will update when i get answer from him.

i suppose any lcd with hdmi & 1080p function should be able to handle ps3 very well. there's no point in implementing it if it cannot handle bluray movies from ps3.

To be more accurate.....
Any monitor with DVI input (with HDCP enabled) and with scalling/native support for HD resolutions (720 or 1080p).

and

a DVI to HDMI adapter .... converter refers to more on taking one type of signal and changing it to another.

yes, that's right..you can't simply plug in any monitor with DVI. must check the compatibility (HDCP). but nonetheless, many today's monitor come equipped with HDCP..so, no problem

Was eyeing an AOC 2434Pw last weekend. At the shop, it looked kinda good but for some reason the other 22" AOC next to it looked better due to its glossy screen and appeared to have tighter pixels and more vibrant colours. Nevertheless I proceeded to purchase the 2434Pw due to good reviews on this thread.

Back home, I did some quality comparison test with my 6 year old LCD, the Philips 170B4 (25ms response time). Damn, the results are kinda disappointing. The 6 year old TN LCD beats the AOC hands down. I say this because the AOC can't seem to produce enough color scales.

Take a look at this pic1 IMG_9502.JPG. Observe that you can differenciate between the woman's shoulders and arms from the background on my Philips. On the AOC it's so dark you can't see shit.

In the last pic3 IMG_9507.JPG, compare again the shadows behind the picture frame the guy is holding. Clearly the details are lacking on the AOC. No matter how I adjusted its setting, it still could not produce good colour scale. Btw the Philips was on DVI and AOC on VGA (obviously coz it lacks DVI input).

Now the ultimate let down. I was hoping the in-built speakers would at least gimme some decent audio but no! It's worse than a RM5 pair of speakers! Worse than laptop speakers. If you peek the unit from the top, you can see these 2 cheap looking "tweeters" inside.

Ok, I'm done b****ing. Now who wants to buy my unit? smile.gif

Mind to share the source of the pictures? Maybe other AOC users could test it out.
