2 images from my trip to France. Both taken using the Olympus PEN, I am new in photography so please dont bantai me so much...
This picture is taken at Bedoin which is the last town before the climb to Mt Ventoux. It was such a hot day, I was carrying the camera in bike bag and I got to cycle 55km to get to this town from my hotel.


This picture is taken yesterday in Paris city itself the last stage of Tour De France. Sorry that I couldnt any closer to the riders, I was late to get to the race.

It's too small to judge anything in particular. But it does look like the first photo is underexposed because of backlighting.

Wah...Got alot of PEN sifu in photographer here.... anyway i would like to ask a few opinion here since i still "green" in photography skill....

For E-Pen 1, What the best lens to used for night shot ? 14-42mm 1:3.5-5.6 lens or 17mm 1:2.8 Pancake lens silver ?

if u have a tripod...
any lense is good...

else...anything with a big aperture helps...and also a flash!

it fits nicely with the PEN...
and i dun understand y one wouldnt like the flash....

bocz if i need some powerful flash...i'd go with my nikon rig...

FL-36R would look....awkward on the PEN...

Well mostly i read they are had less function then the normal flash...like FL -36R mention by amirmunzir....

and i read alot of FL-36R with PEN....

I'm still considering which package i going to get maybe the twin lens or the single lens + flash....because i love to take night scene photo alot....

if i would get twin lens + flash ...this will blow my pocket real wide open....

fl-14 has a GN of 20 at iso200...
thats good enuff for a recreational camera for me..

i bought PEN for it's small size...i wouldnt want to add a big flash to it...it's pointless...

but if PEN is ur one and only camera...then it makes more sense..

if u know how to control the flash...
even a small flash is useful...despite the limited range...and underpowered of coz...

well xandman, if budget is 3.5k what package would you choose ?

i'll get the single lense + flash!
u could do a lot more things with a flash than with a 17mm!
trust me...u wont be disappointed!

Anyway is the view finder must have ? .... i heard the LCD will not be switch off even with view finder .... that bad...sure LCD get alot of power consumption....

the viewfinder is of no use actually...
except to make the PEN a bit more pro...
the LCD is able to show the composition of the 17mm lense accurately...
so the vf is redundant i shud say.
unless u off the lcd and use the vf for composition...

Hmm....i can imagine how weird on holding the camera when taking picture ... with zoom kit lense...

If you want an alternative to the FL-36,

You can always try the Metz 20-C.

No TTL mode, only manual and auto BUT it has a GN of 20 just like the FL-14, and can tilt up to 90 degrees for bounce, like a higher end camera would.
