for 14mm-45mm telephoto lens, the filter lens like uv or polarizer size must be 40.5mm and for 20mm pan cake lens, the size of the filter lens must be 37mm...am i correct??

wow..the price looks good! the price i get is from panasonic lumix station..so it always more expensive than others..
just wan to ask if the lumix camera still got 3 yrs waranty???

Mountable on LX3 without the adapter? I've been stepping aback when it require me to put additional fixture on the camera. I prefer it to be as clean as possible.

Nope not really ... I search a lot of shops can say almost dominated by Canon and Nikon stuff (no offense haha), just so little for Panasonic.
Even if they got Panasonic stuff, it's quite expensive. So far I found on Shashinki and some of the guys at the LYN garage sale.

today EP2 gathering was splendid!! Nice food. We get to molest the EP2 and get freebies from Oly!!

The Pana 20mm & Oly 17mm are both great lenses.
After testing both, I decided to fork my $$$ on the Pana 20mm.
here are my analysis:
Pros for Pana 20mm
- at f1.7 its about 1 stop faster. That's important when you want to shoot in low-light esp. street photography
- at all focal length its sharper, especially at edges and corner
- I seems to like the bokeh better eventhough both bokeh performance are good but not stellar.

Pros for Oly 17mm
- slightly lighter and smaller
- silver color matches nicely with a silver PEN! :-)
- Better control on vignette

Bottom line is, I enjoy using both lenses but one have to go! :-)

haha! then i have to further analyse before I sell the len, which is currently been booked for tonite's dealing. :-)

The other lenses that I am using on the E-P1 apart from the Oly 14-42mm & 17mm are the Oly 9-18mm & Pana 20mm.
Both lenses are Contrast AF lenses, which perform very well in terms of focusing, contrast, etc

Got it for 2770, the usual bundle stuff stuff 8g card and all. Played around with it a little last night, can try it out tonight for some real shots.

Nice bro ... how much did you get for the lens and adapter together, where you get the adapter ah? Using the adapter no auto focus already right?

Can please share your review on using the adapter thanks. Just want to know if using other brand lens with adapter is more cost effective than using m43 or 43 lenses.

Can teach me how to upgrade my EP1 firmware?

For an E-System camera choose “STORAGE” and then press the OK button of the camera.If you are using OLYMPUS Studio 2 the steps to update your camera are similar. To find out the details of the latest firmware changes, please refer to firmware update summary. Note: Once the firmware is updated, you cannot reset your camera back to the original version.
If you want to update the firmware of an E-System accessory like a lens or an external flash you must mount it to your E-System camera beforehand.

Procedure
1. Before starting the firmware update it is recommended to check for using the latest version of OLYMPUS Master 2. With Mac OS X 10.5 it is required to use at least OLYMPUS Master 2.04 or OLYMPUS Studio 2.10.

2. Make sure that you have “Administrator” rights on your computer and your PC is connected to the Internet. Open the Olympus Master 2 Software.

3. Start OLYMPUS Master 2,  click on the top menu “Camera” and choose  “Update Camera/Add Display Language”

Olympus Master shows a window with security advice and instructions to prepare your camera. Please follow these instructions.
Note: Verify that it is the electric battery remaining amount of the camera sufficiently. While updating when the electric battery is cut off, it becomes cause of breakdown of the camera.

4. Connect the camera to your computer using the USB-cable and switch on the camera.  The camera LCD now displays some options to choose. The appearance may have slight changes depending on the camera, but look like this:
 
For an E-System camera choose “STORAGE” and then press the OK button of the camera.  For a compact camera choose “PC” and then press the OK button of the camera.

On your PC choose “OK” at the window “Update Camera”

 
5. Olympus Master 2 will now recognize the actual version of your camera and then checks online if a newer version is available. If the firmware is up-to-date, it will be indicated.  If there is a new firmware available, it is shown like this.


If you would like to see further information, please choose the 'Details' button.
Continue with a click on “Update”.

6. Now a final warning and the software licence agreement are shown.

If you click the button “Agree” the update process will start.

7. Olympus Master2 will now download the new firmware (or language) from the internet to your camera. Please do not remove any cable or the battery while the camera is processing.


8. After about 2 minutes it will change to

 
Please wait until the camera LCD change from    to    , then click the “Next” button.

9. After the download procedure the camera display will show OK. You can remove the cables and switch the camera OFF. After restarting the camera the new firmware or new language is available.

I really dislike installing software and get it connected to PC, wait for it to download and update it like update my phone.

Panasonic did a great job on the ease of use.
To answer you question ... I dun really notice the improvements as I didn't benchmark the before and after firmware upgrade.

I forgot what the update was, better auto focus and better on higher ISO? Perhaps got but really hard to notice.
