Just checked DHL tracking. My unit is on its way. Cleared Customs (told you they like me) and now on the DHL van on its way to my house. It should reach before 12 noon. Exciting times ahead!  rclxms.gif

My FR:

1. Package arrived in very good condition. Kudos to Xtreamer for its good packaging.
2. Set up the unit, connected my ext. HDD and wah la, unit is up and running. rclxm9.gif
3. Setting up wireless connection was a breeze, nothing rocket science.
4. Navigating to its menu has some lag (you will feel it but not annoying). About the same feeling as navigating through the WDTV, albeit slightly faster.
5. Checked out some MKV and AVI movies. Worked superbly! icon_rolleyes.gif

The wait was definitely worth its while (so far) and looking forward to try out the new internet channels and the rest of the features. Too bad I don't have any MKV with HD audio. Will try to get hold of at least one and try it out. Must see whether it allows pass through to AVR for decoding. thumbup.gif

Apart from that, I think the unit is really neat looking, sleek and pretty good finish (sturdier than WDTV, IMHO). whistling.gif

Some interesting reading on Xtreamer

http://www.mpcclub.com/modules.php?name=Fo...t=22065&start=0

Also known "bricked" issues on some of the units other than "Fan" issues.

Nice n thanks for the FR. Hopefully mine comes in these two days.

Can comment a bit on the fan noise?? I read the fan from 2nd batch onwards was replaced...hope the noise is acceptable level now.

Also, did your unit routed (DHL) to Bangkok before arriving here?? Wondering why mine goes to Bangkok and is in BKK at this moment.

A bit more review...
After using the unit for some movies, personally I didn't notice the fan noise. I guess it was no issue for me. I have also dabbled with the internet feature on the unit. Pretty neat if you want to browse for YouTube, news, traliers, etc. on your TV screen. No real issue with streaming YouTube on it (I'm running only a G WiFi). I am also able to access all my home network devices (1 PC, 1 laptop, 1 MyBook World Edition) without any noticeable issue. Like this feature whereby I am able to view photos on the Xtreamer on my TV screen. Of course I have been enjoying this already on the PS3 and Xbox.

My kids absolutely liked it thoroughly as I have a fair bit of kids movies and TV series (mostly DVD quality though). Now just need to make sure that they don't spend too much time on the TV! hmm.gif

BTW, the firmware is the latest 1.0.2. I actually thought I had to update the firmware before I could use it.

All-in-all, I am happy with the Xtreamer.

BTW, yupio, my package was routed through DHL's HK hub. Surprised that yours landed in Bangkok. Hope you get yours very soon.

I'm running wireless G only. So no point trying. Bandwidth simply cannot handle.

I think for HD content, G will not be able to handle it. I read this somewhere in the Xtreamer forums.

I thought it should be done in their KLIA Gateway or Penang Gateway.

mine was originally from HK but routed to BKK and now its in Penang, en-route to my place...too bad I am in office now sad.gif Maybe because I m in north that's why its routed via BKK.

Anyway this is not important anymore since the unit is on its way to my place hehe.

I read that streaming up to 720p is ok but not 1080p for HD content. Not too sure if its been improved in FW 1.0.2 but it has to be in 802.11N and not G.

I will try it out when i got my unit in 802.11N. I hope I can reach my PC coz my router is at 3rd floor but my TV is in Gnd floor. I am having frequent disconnection with my notebook whether its in G mode or N mode. Not sure if its due to inteference from my wireless mouse or wireless home phone. mad.gif
