my unit is supposed to be shipped on 11 Aug and it is now still awaiting fulfillment. I wrote to them on 11th and they said that they would ship it out very soon. I think this company has a long way to go if they truly want to be one of the strongest competitors - especially for a company that mainly sells products over the internet. Fortunately I still have my sigma chipset for movie watching

Audio pass through : DTS, Dolby Digital, DTS-HD MA, DTS-HD HR, Dolby True HD, Dolby Digital Plus

according to the above spec, even the streamer 1283 chip set can't decode DTS-HD/MA.. only can pass thro.. if you do get audio sound, that's the core DTS track, and not the HD track..

cheers.

sorry need to ask a bit more :when you say pass through - it means you use an AVamp to decode and output the sound right - then will we still get HD audio if the amp is HDaudio capable?
but if we just connect the player directly to TV - even if the player is capable of decoding HD audio, the TV speaker can output such HD effect? or, should we say - if the TV can output sound - it is because the player could "downmix"? thanks

Added on August 19, 2009, 2:56 pmBy the way, I just noticed that on the xtreamer official site - the "offer till 1 Aug 09" is no longer there - instead, the price remains as EU99+EU0 for the player+ Antenna, guess this is the price range that is most acceptable by consumers (given the fact that they don't give HDMI cable)

For DTS-HD the HDMI must be HDMI 1.3 standard & connected to an AV amp so if you connect the player direct to TV HDMI, you'll only have stereo downmix, no HD effect or whatsoever!

Thanks a lot Adam for clearing that - if that's the case, what yangxi said "can't play DTSHD sound" is not entirely correct and misleading.

This statement is so confusing that it almost misled me into thinking that I have made a wrong decision to purchase Xtreamer.

What I have is a DTSHD enabled amp, even if Xtreamer cannot decode HD audio , as long as it can do a pass-through, my amp will take over the decoding work. Also, demanding HDaudio output is a strange requirement for those who directly connect this player to their TV because even if Xtreamer does decode HD audio I don't think TVs can produce HD sound effect, however, it is then important that Xtreamer must be able to downmix DTS so that TVs can produce sound.

Thanks again Adam for giving us a complete picture of who should be more concerned about whether Xtreamer can do a pass-through (for those with AV amps) and downmix (for those who connect the player directly with TV) , appreciated it! thumbup.gif

You are welcome, DTS-HD will need to connect the HDMI to AV AMP & then only connect the HDMI from AV AMP to TV. As for the xtreamer, you better read this first http://forum.xtreamer.net/viewtopic.php?f=...6e556e&start=10
Seems they really have problem with DTS-HD.

yup! read that before and constantly monitoring the progress but I remain hopeful as it is the potential that I see in this player (given that price-range). I happened to also own a HDX1000 - initially it could not even downmix DTX - just like WDTV, it has since upgraded its firmware just a month ago to fully support DTS - we can also choose "raw" output in the audio setting to let the Amp do the decoding. Since Xtreamer displays this capacibility (pass through) in their ads (I think European countries have a harder enforcement on false claims) I think that's only a matter of time that they will release a firmware update to realise it. biggrin.gif

IMO, they got great product and firmware support. But the screw up order fulfillment process & lousy customer service causing a great deal to their new brand image. I believe potential buyer will steer off for now and competitor will laughing until ...

I just cancelled my order yesterday evening as there is no confirmation on when they will be shipping out my order. Also recently there are more and more model/choice coming out for us to pick with same if not better functionality...

There seems to be a worldwide delay of Realtek chips...hence the delays.

Even the Sigma chipset is low in supply thats why a lot of the media players (Dune, AC Ryan, Xtreamer) are delayed.

economic downturn doesn't seem to weaken the buying power ha.

On the Xtreamer, delay is fine but at least specify the period of delay instead of keeping us in suspense duh.
