So that's why they didn't offer the game on Steam? To make it Origin-exclusive?

They have other reasons...

Their trying to sync all EA Games to be exclusive on Origin only...

So, now we need Origin to run BF3, ME3 and so on.

It does make me feel like getting Skyrim instead. I am expecting EA will drop some shit on it sooner or later. So, here is the shit.

I hate to run 2 different clients on my PC.

Great, OT, now Trackmania 2 also have its own DD. doh.gif

I have Steam, Impulse, Capsule, Origin. How many more DDs i need?

BF2, BC2 and a few more EA games are on Steam as well as EA downloader before. So why is it different this time?

cos EA downloader was buggy? so they still needed steam to distribute online.
maybe its fixed now, whoever origin are could be a company coming in to fix it? tongue.gif

Apparently, when you launch BF3 from the exe or Origin, the game will load you to Battlelog, which is in a browser, and you pick a server from there. From there, you are in game.

That sounds like BF Heroes or BF Play4Free. Incredibly annoying.

Wot?

Nevermind the only reason I want it on Steam is I foresee getting this next year when I have sufficient amount of firepower to run this game. And I want the game + all DLCs at much lower price so steam sale is the answer. EA are known to not give much discount at their own store so yeah.

Not only that, i am very very afraid to see more and more Steam wannabes, where you need to have various software running at the same time to play some game.

Thats really annoying.

I think im gonna use Xfire again.

Not just Origin, i think Impulse also wants to be Steam wannabe with their new Reactor.

When you play a game , you expect it to be launch straight away when you click the exe or from the game client...
But since you've stated , that BF3 will go to Battlelog first and go straight into the game , reminds me of those cheap online shooters...

To be honest, I can put up with that. Currently I have Steam, Origin, GOGDownloader, GFWL, Desura and Capsule. Not counting YUPlay, Rockstar Social and others. But yeah would prefer something that can enable me to keep track all of my games in different clients.

You want more bad news, here:

QUOTE
I was unable to get the alpha to work as a "non-steam game" if the same happens with the beta, I will be waiting for confirmation that the final product will be able to. If it doesnt, well, I will probably wait for a sale if I get it at all.

Not putting it on steam was bad, but I assumed I could just launch the game through the normal .exe if I purchased retail. This is really beginning to annoy me.

Best,

3Ball

BF3 cannot be added as non Steam game. SURPRISE!!!!

Having different accounts are bad enough, like GFWL, Origin Account, UPlay, Battlenet, Trackmania account, Steam and Shit. Now, everyone wants to extend it to have different DD systems where you need different client to launch the game.

FYI, i am not hating BF3 for no reason, but i do not agree with these shit i am getting. I have 8GB RAM, but Origin is definitely not as lean as Steam, as it is taking up 90MB as i am writing. Steam takes 25MB. Just imagine those with less than 3GB RAM with 5 more of this kind of DD.

Shall we all go back to Xfire? And hope Xfire can launch BF3 Beta.

I have pretty much the same thing, but imagine that you have to run all of them in different software each time with different friends list. Thats nightmare.

Impulse is developing their Reactor and it will be released soon, which is another Steam wannabe.

I bet GFWL wont sit there doing nothing, sooner or later, they will do that too.

How much you can put up with more and more Steam like software?

Lets say 2, 3 years from now, i can bet with you that Activision, THQ, Square Enix, Blizzard, Konami, GFWL, everyone and their mum will have their own DD. How much fun you gonna have then?

You have such shallow thinking. That was exactly the same as what Activision did with MW2 where they increased standard PC game price from 50USD to 60USD. Then, there are millions and million of idiots like you:"Meh, only MW2 is 60USD" and buy the game with no complains.

Look what happen now, almost every game from Starcraft 2, Diablo 3, Battlefield 3, Skyrim, Rage and so on are 60USD now, because those idiots back then think it's alright for MW2 to be 60USD, which sent the message to the rest of the industry that PC gamers do no mind 60USD games. As these companies arent running for charity, but they need to earn money. So, they increased the price, hence, now you have to pay 60USD for BF3.

BF3 have the capabilities to pull off the same thing again, except this time with separate DD for different publisher. If BF3 is successful with Origin, you'll see more publishers pulling out from other DDs and start their own one.

Maybe i should quit gaming, as gaming is getting incredibly idiotic. The spineless sheep mentality is incredibly strong in this industry.
