saw some posts mentioned that they get locked ups when run prime blend test, exactly d same issue like mine (x3 720) b4... doh.gif

just wait for msi to release legal version of core unlockin bios, gigabyte & asus have done it w/ hybrid acc & unleash... dfi is sloooooow as always.... yawn.gif

I didn't put any fan there coz got no space with the CCF in place sweat.gif
But i do have the top large 140mm fan blowing cool air down on it which should do the trick.. i think  sweat.gif

from d peekture those bga ram sinks looked a 'lil short. i'd prefer those w tall fins coz imo they better in heat dissipation. let's not forget copper is gud in absorbin heat but slow in releasin 'em, so in this case, i think passively cooled alu ram sinks w tall fins will do a better job than d short copper bga ram sinks which is also passively cooled. smile.gif

it'd be perfect if can find to mosfet coolers on old lp nf4 board... thumbup.gif

Dont say think think..Try touch with your hands to feel if it hot..Usually if me ..i will use Alu one so it will dissipate better..
*
alu = absorb heat slow, ok in dissipate heat even passively cooled.
copper = gud in absorbin heat but need to actively cooled for optimal performance.

iirc actively cooled copper pwns actively cooled alu. nod.gif

now can even unlock the multi on x3 710 also..wonder later on what can be unlock somemore

ok guys..ive decided to buy asus m4a78t-e over msi g65..msi a better clocker over asus but i couldnt trust msi quality..even one side of my brain say get it but past experience with msi boards hurt my feeling badly lol..maybe now they make better board but still very hard to commit to msi  laugh.gif

how i wish abit still in business..my board now (kn9 ultra) even after 2 years++ of thrashing its going along well..best moment is bring my x2 3600 brisby to 3ghz easily lol

i hope my choice will be good  sweat.gif
*
what's d price diff between msi & asus bro? i think built quality of msi board is ok nowadays, bios wise seems ok to me as well coz they have update on monthly basis. i was thinkin of d same board too b4 decided to stick w ddr2. ddr3 ram is way outta reach rite now, won't go for value ram coz i know sooner or later i'll shift to performance ram once they're available. wink.gif

lightning doesn't strike twice at d same place bro, it was pure luck that i managed to buy d twinmos value. nod.gif

if not becoz of d high cost involved in switchin to ddr3, i mite end up w gd65 + mushkin ddr 1333. but luck wasn't on my side coz d ram snapped up by someone, outta frustration, i get d tj-09 instead... tongue.gif

u can't really know unless u touch it ya self coz there's no pwm sensor on biostar 790gx boards. at vcore < 1.45v, d mosfet still manage to handle prime imo if they're properly cooled. smile.gif

@ kunta,

sweet chip u have there, hopefully u'll get d DC issue sorted out quick. nod.gif

pwm can be observe? nvr know.hehehe

in my case.....
tmpin0 = nb
tmpin2 = cpu
so my tmpin1 = suppose to be pwm ke? noob here
thank ah khoo

i guess the volt not enough since at stock vcore 3.6ghz 3hrs pass.. when shaved 1 notch... it pass 30 mins only..

pwm is the ferrite chokes ya? noob here..
i did put some ramsink on it... it quite hot..but not too hot la..

what is the DC issue? hehehe
*
i supposed pwm = chokes + mosfets. no so sure too... sweat.gif

u need to care more bout d fets rather than chokes coz they're more vulnerable imo. so far i never heard of blow chokes, only blown fets due to high volt on cpu. smile.gif

DC = Dual Channel. biggrin.gif

Last night i rummage thru my PC parts treasure chest n  i manage to find my old CM aerogate II..

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Just a question here guys, since unlocking cores will disable the cpu temp diode, how accurate would be an external temp reader like aerogate meh?  hmm.gif
I assemble everything and at idle it shows my cpu at around 44~49c.. If i'm not mistaken u need to minus a few celcius for external reader right??

Thinkin of using it permenantly to tell the cpu temp ah hmm.gif

P.S> Just to put the temp reader wire ontop of the cpu, i took out my CCF and slide it under it without reapplying a new layer of TIM is ok right? Ker i need to reapply?
*
woot bro, ur usin d big brother of cm aerogate 1 which i'm usin for fan controllin. i have 2 if 'em to control all d fan inside my case... smile.gif

as for d thermal probe, u can't sandwich it between d cooler & d ihs, just stick it at d side of base of d cooler. temp wise i think it's safe to take +/- 5'c. wink.gif

Miahahaha, it an old thing i bought dulu2, but i stop using it coz it was kinda hard to do the cable management with my old CM Praety.. sweat.gif
Right now i only connect both of my large case to it, the CCF fan is still using its own speed controller + connected to the mobo..

U mean the thermal probe isn't supposed to be sandwich between the cooler n the cpu meh??  rclxub.gif  rclxub.gif
Aisey got to take it out ler tonite.. But if i just put it at the bottom of the HSF would the reading be accurate meh? sweat.gif
*
sandwich a thermal probe between heatsink base & ihs is always a non no bro, i used to think d same way u did but i was corrected by someone of higher knowledge back then. smile.gif

finished installin everything but still need to mod d side panel... imo those premium case should allocate some space at d right panel for hidin cables, it's kinda hard to hide even sleeved cables, we need something like this... brows.gif

what could be easier than mild/mid clockin a BE chip? just raise d cpu multi and stress, if no failure keep increasin cpu multi, if fail add vcore & stress again... and d instructions go on & on until u hit d limit w/ ya coolin & voltage of safety range. nod.gif

But the cpuvolt is very the ugly :/x :/x Now i'm sure my o/c hands are very the pailang :/x
Bikin malu sajalah, but still some results tho.. :/sweat:

I'll try tweak some more later on, right now already tensen with the amount of time restarting n readjusting..
But atleast with the Gigitbyte board it didn't hang at post if wrong setting like when i was using Biostar or MSI.. :/lol:

take it step by step bro, u have yet to get familiar w/ d board, once u have then we'll see d results comin, i'm sure of that... wink.gif

now u see d diff between award bios & ami bios bro? they are in diff league i tell u... brows.gif

Tested by upping just the multi always crash n burn, have to play with the multi + HT then can go up this point..  :/sweat:
Looks like my plan to go 3.7ghz like ah_khoo would not be a materializing  :/x
bro, i managed a 3.7GHz prime stable w/ 3 cores only leh... 4 cores was only 3d benchable & we all know that it's wayyyyy easier than gettin it prime stable... keep it up... thumbup.gif
