Trust us a little bit

Hmmm, I'm extremely curious as to how they're going to "keep the community" together. That's my only concern really.

We'll see how it goes.

The more i read, the more i think some of the new tech just cant be a DLC.Especially the Director 2.0 part.

They still need more content though.

I think L4D2 is more like a franchise reboot in a sequel form.

Oh c'mon its NOT that irregular.

Call of Duty does it
Gears of War so far have done it
The first 2 Fallout games came out within a year of each other
So did Need for Speed at one point

While this may be a first by Valve (OMG 2 games in the space of a year!), its certainly NOT a first for the industry. Hence the reason many of the complaints here are moot:
Sequel not using new engine? Done before (Gears of War, God of War)
Content should be free? Done since time immemorial
Content that can be patched in? Ditto above.

Please end this nerdrage streak.

laugh.gif Somehow they managed to make Fallout 2 as good as Fallout 1. I guess with isometric graphics they can focus more on the good stuff rather than eye candy.

If it's done like UT2003 and UT2004,i dont mind as UT2004 is a huge improvement over UT2003.

On the other hand,if it's like NFS,fcuk you Valve.

Well.. imo can't really compared to those games u mentioned as most of them has proper singleplayer game (especially those with cool cinematics), and has added bonus with multiplayer.

Wherelse L4D its mainly coop multiplayer which its rare especially for pc gamers.

Even in the beginning ppl complained and hesitated to get L4D all due too little content for a full priced game.

Imo, if it cost similar to TF2 rm90 comparing to L4D rm138, ppl will say otherwise...

Oh well, just hope they add more contents before L4D2 out and it will be great if both games can be combined rather than switch games.

Cheers smile.gif

Or even better....offer significant discount for L4D 1 owners. Then it wouldn't be so bad tongue.gif

im not so sure about the fans of Call of duty/gears of war/fallout but from my personal experience the UT community were indeed upset and complaint about ut2003 being lack of contents. So Epic worked on ut2004 and caused a massive uproar in the ut community like what we seen here in l4d. At the end of the day Epic decided to compensate the fans by generously giving discount.
But if the fans of Call of duty/gears of war/fallout are really complaining like what we are seeing in l4d ( i hope it wasnt), then i really doh.gif

Like I said, its because everyone has been spoiled by Valve because of TF2.

Well all the Battlefield games were sold at a premium price with practically no proper single player content.

The thing is, for a multiplayer only game, you gauge the cost of it based on how many hours of enjoyment you had. I'm not going to dispute that TF2 has insane value based on its longevity, but really, its not fair to compare the two as they should be judged on their own merits.

But the thing is, does this announcement nullify all those hours of enjoyment in L4D? Unless of course you didn't like L4D, whereby this announcement shouldn't affect you at all.

I'm pretty sure the fans (I was one of them) at the time were THRILLED instead of upset with the announcement of UT2004. UT2003 was severely incomplete and broke many of the things that made UT fun. Hell, much gripes was posted on the intarwubs when it was delayed.

I think the main problem is the price.L4D was charged as a full priced game, which is RM139,while the content it has is more or less as much as TF2.TF2 was priced lower and it's is part of Orange Box.People dont feel so ripoff, whether they buy TF2 standalone or from Orange Box as they have HL2 and Portal to mess around.

Then, out of no where and less than a year,Valve announced L4D2.Gamers still have to pay full price for a updated version of the game, een though it has a lot of new features. If Valve give a discount for existing L4D owners,or sell the game at lower price,i think people wont complain so much.

This isnt much different than Fifa,NFS or Madden release every year.
