one thing that i noticed about paddy's transfer rumour is that there's no such quote from paddy himself that says he wanna join spurs.it's only from harry.

I believe Toure will be a loyal servant for Arsenal. He's been rock solid for us for many years and without him this season would be the last thing that came across my mind. Let's hope he stays on.
*
Kolo requested to be transfer listed last December. if he is a loyal servant as you put it, he would not do that, no?

As much as I do not want Kolo to leave as well 16m is very very good business IMO if we do sell him for that price. I'm sure many still have some lingering faith that he could recapture the form of the "Invincibles" era and so do I but we have to be realistic as well that at 29, the chances of that happening looks very slim IMO.

I honestly feel its an offer too hard to turn down on Arsene's part and I have a feeling he will be on his way to join Ade.

BUT we simply have to buy a new centreback if this happens otherwise its curtains to our season before it even started IMO. Well unless our defenders stay clear of injuries with Vermaelen proving to be a success and Djourou transforming into a Sol Campbell overnight. Vermaelen a success probably but not so about the bit of Djourou transforming into a Sol Campbell and even less so about our defenders staying clear of injuries given our "ahem" injury track record <.< Don't get me wrong about Djourou though I do rate the lad very highly indeed just that I feel its just too soon for him.

Look into Arsenal-mania, Toure might gone to MC (90%), oh well, what is Arsene thinking about?

It will happen next 24 hours, we will see.

if arsene sold toure, and still said he in no hurry to find a replacement, then i don't know what's his future plan...

This is personal - I think 16M for someone like Toure is considered cheap ! I won't do the business if I was in charged of it.

Getting a decent defender at this price is OK
Getting a defender like Toure at this price is a GREAT deal!

However,

Losing a defender in Arsenal is BAD.
Losing a defender like Toure in Arsenal is WORSE
Losing a defender like Toure at only 16M when we have no successor of his post is WORST!

Unlike the strikers where we have decent cover and the confidence in these strikers (RvP, Bendtner, Eduardo, etc) is high, the same cannot be applied to our defenders. Our weak defense will be much much further weaken by Toure departure. New reinforcements like Vermaelen will NOT bring immediate success (although we have done a great deal with Arshavin before), not to mention to compensate a loss of one of the most senior defenders in the team.

i suppose to his defense, it was due to the situation he was having with gallas.... but in the end he retracted the transfer request, so i think perhaps we shouldn't be too harsh on him. although if the current rumour is true, i'd be really sad. it's bad enough that he leaves and arsenal are left with a threadbare defensive situation, he's moving to a club who are aiming to break into the top four, probably at our expense...

i hope if he does go...

1. he will be a flop at man city
2. he won't be a flop, but arsenal will win the title or at least finish the season in the top four
3. wenger please get reinforcements..
4. he won't talk bad about arsenal like that hleb, cashley and even ade...

sigh...

Looks like not only Goal.com is reporting on Kolo's transfer, other websites also reported that Kolo has flew from Austria training camp to go for medical in Man C...seriously, i'm not sure what Arsene is thinking....looks like the season has ended for the fans before it even started sweat.gif

Going to be another w t f season just like after arsenal sold Henry to Barcelona.

Lets hope it turn out to be different but instead built another team of Invincible without any previous Invincible team inside.

But still, losing Kolo Toure is going to be like losing Henry purpose.

Haha you are entitled to your own opinion and I respect that but I think the opposite. Toure's form has been poor for quite sometime now and is 29. He is not getting much younger. Chances of him improving or recapturing his form is very slim. Moreover if you factor in the fact that he is in his last year of his contract and considering he has once put in a transfer request in January shows that he might not be as happy as he seems to be and might reject a new contract offer and we will lose him for nothing at the end of the season. Flamini all over again ? Also we will lose him for more than 2 months due to the African Nations Cup.

To be honest if Arsene were to pay 16m for a 29 year old defender who will miss more than 2 months of the season who is also in his last year of his contract with the uncertainty of how he will perform due to poor form the previous season I'll be livid.

Like I said I do not want Kolo to leave but 16m is just a very very good offer.

BUT I repeat again we will have to buy a new centreback if this happens.

Your points are valid.

But still, in our situation, losing another player is a big NO.

Financially, it may sound a good deal but in our thin defense, I rather stick to Toure. For defenders, 29 years old is the starting of their peaks. Therefore, I have better confidence that Toure will regain his prime and take it higher; compared to getting a new defender and start over again.

Anyway, from the numerous "rumours", it seems that the deal sounds real. Oh well, I just feel pity to lose our last invincible member - while on the other hand, worry about our already-weak defense.

Nothing much can be done but hoping AW's golden touch to be back just on time before the season starts

For one reason or another Kolo wanted out, his request for transfer in Jan. was rejected by Arsenal board.
We all agree that;

1 That he was not a flop the past season even though he was not a regular starter, and he will be rejuvenated at City. He is a proven EPL premium defender.

2. Thats my wish too.

3. AW is after Fulham's Brede Hangeland.

4. I don't think so. Did Ade, even tho' he did not get much support regarding his tiff with another striker? Similarly Kolo with Gallas. The only player so far is Tevez regarding AF (beyond the pale treatment) lies and and dishonest stringing of him.

Don't worry AW will will spend wisely on the money received from Ade and Kolo sales. If it makes you happy, remember MU did not receive any money from Tevez's signing. whistling.gif

The transfer window is still open and there is still time for more purchases. IF Toure does leave for 16m, add that to the 25m we got from Adebayor Arsene has no more excuses IMO. More than enough funds for an adequate replacement.
