i m thinking to go for breath taking scenery , u know place that we can get a piece of mind by enjoying the scenery ? perhaps some dinner ?

Act, currently there no airline going to South so u needed to head to North... U can try check Emirates offer, MAS or Jetstar.... If u going to Winter all shop closed early and the temperature can go to negative Celsius... Yes south is famous for scenery....

Yes, more tourists will head to the South.
Winter time means less daylight travelling hours and also less tourists. Weather can be really cold and snowing too in the south island, depending on where you'll go. July seems to be the coldest month. Practically everything is close at night. By 8pm, hardly see any cars in Auckland city already.
For 7 days, I think its best you just travel around South island. Don't think you can push in enough time for sightseeing in Auckland unless you cut short your days in South island.

Try checking Singapore Airlines or Silk Air for KL-CHC transit at Singapore. Or you can fly MAS to Auckland andden take domestic flight to CHC. Jetstar can offer one of the cheapest flights from KL-Auckland but you'll also have to transit in Singapore.

Well, if you want to go for transit for cheaper flights, you can fly to AUS first then go straight to South Island. That's another choice but you'd have to sacrifice some time there.

Do take note, you WON'T need an Australia Visa if you are going for transit but if you decide to GO OUT from the airport, well, that's another matter.

Going to NZ in Spring, you'd get longer hours as in by 8 or 9 pm, the sky still looks like it's in the evening. smile.gif Personally, I'd advice everyone to travel one island at a time and not try to take on both at once.

There are flights going to the South Island from Aus. Some cheap and affordable as well if you can do transit. Jetstar? Air NZ etc etc are good choices as they have a lot of promos from time to time.

Well, for first timer in NZ, i would recommeded you travel during early winter, suggest you travel on May to June, the whether although a bit cool, but the nice scenery would compeasate it back. If you travel by own driving, it more cheaper, safer and easy during this period of time, suggest to take 8-9 day since it transit in North Island.

For Auckland, it depend what the fight schedule, it better to sharf in 1-2 day to see the city and it surrounding. While, in South Island, QT -3-4day, Lake Takipo-1 day, Milfold Sound 1-2 day. while, 7 day it abit rush IMHO.

Hello all, I am planning for a trip to NZ for my family of 6 around CNY.

In that 1 week, I wish to have a leisure bonding time with my family (16-50yo). As a side note, we are very open minded and would like to experience things such as hostel, food & nightlife.

Please please suggest us where we should go, and what we should do there? (I've read the previous pages of this thread about Auckland, South Island, North Island, etc...)

Thank you! notworthy.gif

For the short holiday of 1 week, recommended just tour the South Island for 1 week, recomended 3 night on QT, 1 day Milford Sound, 1 night on Lake Takipo, In QT, u can stay at the Youth Hotel@ Lakefront, u can book two x3 bedroom for family member, the room is clean, quite big, arround 20x20' , all single bed without double desker, and near the kitchen. Rent a Estima shall be good enough to bring yrs family member to move around.

In CNY, not much festival atmosphera in NZ, but u have yrs family of six for gathering and cooking, can bring yrs own card or mahjong if too boring. Well, it should be fun and memorable even after many year. They are not much nightlife in South Island, NZ, unless u like gambling, then QT have some sub-par casino, but dun expect Genting standard loh.
