Actually, the reason i went with AP was that Nokia original warranty is only for 1 year whereas the AP is 1year and a half and when the warranty is lapsed, either way you will still have to pay to fix your machine so i thought it would be better to go the AP way because longer warranty and in the end still need to pay to fix the machine regardless.
Thanks all for your replies. Will now consider what is the best path to take.
So for all those who is thinking of getting a good nokia unit especially the out of production n82, you should know which AP warranty shop to avoid now.. cause your pretty decent mobile going in may come out differently!! The people working in that shop is just plain terrible at repairs. When i think about it, it's terrible to fix a mobile phone at such below par levels.
About the AP 18-24 months extended warranty, I don't believe in it as per all the feedback I hear over the years, including yours now. When problem happens, whether in 1st month or 23rd month, it is still the same problem to get it fixed and headache as you mentioned above, again and again.
I will still pay higher for a shorter and standard 12 months warranty. No hanky panky. No free lunch.
12 months warranty is standard for most normal branded electrical goods like Dell, HP, Sony, Panasonic, Philips, Toshiba, LG, Samsung, etc. e.g. PC, notebook, TV, fridge, washing machine, playstation3, wii, etc.
If indeed it spoils on 13th month, it is time to pay myself to fix it or buy a new one. I have encountered several times electrical things spoil on 13th-14th month. But I also encounter things spoil within warranty, and so far I recall I don't have a very big headache about claiming warranty. Just some standard process only and I get it fixed, no scratch, no swap parts, no hanky panky.
If I don't get it fixed, I'll complain to their principal, and they will take action towards their local distributor/vendor on support/maintenance. So far I don't need to go into legal process yet.
