Just off/on (reboot) the phone. I guess is memory-leak issues.

No lah. I encounter this randomly while try to open Messaging, Gallery, etc.

Last I check during PC Fair (Dec'09) and last 2 weeks at LYP, SanDisk 8GB ~65-75
16GB ~165-175

I will goto other centres and seek other opinion. If LCD no problem, why do they need to change it ? I'm sure Nokia doesn't make the casing to go with the cover together. This is two main components of the phones which must be separate.

However, original casing itself is not cheap, about rm250-350.

I seriously do not trust any of those shops. They may take out your ori parts and swap with other parts.

If I were you, I'll try google/youtube on instruction (step-by-step) how to open up N82 casing. Then I buy the casing myself (satisfy with the condition, etc.) and DIY.

Do you know roughly how many sms/mms in your memory card ? I have tried stored nearly 6k sms in memory card, and it looks like hang, but in fact it took 3-7 minutes to open the folder. Not yet include the time it takes to open the message or scroll it.

Even 3k takes 30-120 seconds.

It loads faster if stored in phone memory. I stored 10k sms before and it takes 1-2 minutes to load.

Since you mention it works using PC Suite, perhaps can you try again to switch to Memory Card and link to PC Suite ?

I suspect Memory Card might be faulty. Care to share the brand/model ?

With recent few posts on memory card issue, please help to identify the brand and model.

So far I have not heard problems from SanDisk or Kingston. It proves to be better to spend extra rm10-20 on it.

When you say cannot open sms from memory card, is there any error message come out ? Or hang ? Or have to reboot phone ? or how long you need to wait ? or how you resolve it ?

Try set the phone display to max timeout before screensaver (or disable it). Then wait 1-10 minutes to see, maybe it really loads ?

Why not try use PC Suite to open the sms in memory card, then forward the sms to you sis h/p (store in phone memory). See whether can send, receive and open it ?

If it works, switch your Messaging back to Phone Memory and try ask your sis to send the sms back to you. Can you open it ?

This is not a solution, but just to try out if it works or not.

2. Performance same to me, no drop calls though. Perhaps there's some changes in your area ? Does it happen to you everywhere, or specific location, e.g. inside house.

N82 update firmware will not have lost data.

LCD screen will turn-off back light first. Main screen still visible. After some time, then power-save mode or screen saver comes out. Check your Display settings.

If you have budget and desire new h/p brand/model, go ahead and buy a new one.

If no idea and no budget, change housing

Slow means good also. Not much problem to discuss or solve. N82 is a stable unit.

It is not size that matters, but on demand/supply, manufacturing, stocks and other internal/external factors. It is like asking why a 1GB DDR 400MHz RAM is more expensive than a 2GB DDR2 800MHz ? Or how come a mini cooper so small, is more expensive than Proton Perdana ? etc.

Also, depends on shop if they simply mark up too high.

(i) Wrong forum ? N82 uses micro-SDHC. Not SDHC.

(ii) If you mean 16GB / 32GB micro-SDHC, then 16GB micro-SDHC only comes in Class 2/4 if I'm not mistaken. AFAIK, 32GB micro-SDHC does not exists in mass production yet.


Read this source A class 2 micro-SDHC is sufficient to use in N82, unless you plan to pull it out and plug into USB card-reader or use in digital camera or other external use.

I'm using JBak Taskman. Always exit all the apps after use. Otherwise, it will take up a lot of battery, especially games running in background.

Not only that, some personal settings you use may affect it, like themes or screen saver or etc.

There is one time I install some animated themes + screen saver, the battery usage drop 50% even if I do not use the phone at all. After uninstall, back to normal.

IMHO, the nearest similiar upgrade for N82 is N8 now.

Anyway, I will be selling my N82 soon in coming weeks, will post and share the link here when it is ready in Garage Sales. Backup up data now.

Sad to bid farewell to my N82 , but too many phones around.
