nope.
normal one. 2 parents n a child. oways nagging. asking their child 2 stop playing pc games (study, finish school homework, finish tuition asg), but his father is playing whenever he has time 
his mom wants him to b like me in future    (but my mom nvr ask to do homework wor... )

If you are fresh grad.. then preference would be local student la.. but they absorb fresh grad from malaysia also..

One more point of contention is that i realise my collegues from singapore are rather "by the book" kinda people. (in other words "law-by-law", kayu, straight). This is not really a drawback for me considering we, malaysian believe laws are only adhered to when there are policeman around( how many of us could honestly say we have never done jaywalking, jumping queue,ran the red lights etc in malaysia). Is this generally true or just certain people??

I don't think Sg customs will check the contents of everybody's laptop. Not even the Americans and Aussies do that (and they seem to be the ones doing it the most). If they did that, they'd be clearing very few people each day since you'd have to wait for boot up, open file manager, low battery look for power socket etc.

But if somebody tipped them off that you have something-something in your laptop, they'll definitely check you.

Having said that, I have encrypted my laptop and all my memory cards, and removed all the something-somethings from my mobile phones.

if your really paranoid then encrypt your stuff.
TrueCrypt is a good tool to do that.

i saw ppl's cd got confiscated before...

I created a large encrypted file on my hdd and store my personal stuff in there. Same thing for my memory cards which are full of mp3s.

Anyway, American or Aussie customs can probably crack the encryption if they want to employ the resources, but my concern is not US or Aust customs. It's the Singaporean authorities. They are pretty hands off about contrabrand like mp3s, movies etc AS LONG AS you don't make it a problem for them.  ie. Leave the evidence in plain sight, so much so that if they don't take action when they can plainly see it, they are neglecting their duties.

For eg. the police don't investigate to find out who downloads mp3 or movies. The rights owner has to take the trouble to find out who they are and report their addresses to the police.

They don't go looking for people who piggyback personal LAN, but when someone did it in the void deck and people walking past reported him - they had to take action.

So for me, my thinking is that if someone needs to look at my hdd or memory cards for some reason, all they see is one big page file or archive file, and not lots and lots of mp3 files staring at them in the face.

good topic, actually we as malaysian that work in Singapore, are we given equal opportunities ? if work is ok, then how about social-wise? like lepak or gathering ?

so far i heard from my friend is ok, but his working kind of lower job, like computer operator which singaporean dint want to work.... social-wise he said he never mixed much.. and prefer to stay at home..

I started reading the thread from the last page so i didn't know u were being sarcastic in that post,anyway i'm so glad that those nasty things didn't really happen on you! But if it did, again my sympathy!

I actually met and mixed with a few singaporeans before and they are just like what you've said,normal and same as malaysian from the outside,unlike the japanese,they are some really different folks, in a good way though, at least to me. The singaporeans i met were some nice guys who took me to nice dinner and drinks so  i thought it was just some normal guy's trick to get a girl and that i won't be taken seriously. But so far leh, i find them some very nice ppl to hang out with,but then again i thought it's probably a guy and a chick thing.

And like what you've said, true enough, i don't have a friend close enough to update his/her working life in singapore, it's all hear say. What prompted me to think that singaporeans treat us like second class citizens was due to the fact that i always look down on the average malaysians, including myself. So i was thinking that i'm not good enough for the singaporeans so it's right for them to treat themselves higher above us,i'm terrible right. That's y i wanted to ask you if it's that bad, a hardworking malaysian will never rise together with singaporeans cause i actually believed in what u said and it's unbelievable i was kind enough to write something for a depressed forum-er

from what i read, u mean malaysian actually are given better treatment above indian nationals, banglas, thai and burmese? well. that is a good news ..

so far i heard quite positive comments about singapore from our own malaysian working there..

how about job-wise, usually u guys job hopping or stay loyal to a company?

sorry being a noob, the % is based on per month rite? like say salary is 3000 at 1st year, the taxable amount is 3000 x 12 x 5%? =$1800 for year one?

then if let say for one person he got offerred $5000 at year one, he will be taxed at 5% or straight to S$900 ?
I thought the signapore economy is recovering? hows it is there?
