QUOTE(fbjkl @ Aug 22 2009, 03:03 PM) thx. I will be going back since this coming hari raya puasa holiday since it sure boring stay back here. But last year didnt go back since my landlord who was malay treat me homemade food, and not bad, especially his spicy fried chicken.Added on August 22, 2009, 3:04 pm me...in fact, most of us coz xtra 1 day holiday Added on August 22, 2009, 3:12 pm nope. normal one. 2 parents n a child. oways nagging. asking their child 2 stop playing pc games (study, finish school homework, finish tuition asg), but his father is playing whenever he has time his mom wants him to b like me in future My current household just the parent and the only child, nearly everyday the mother will scold the son after she comes back from work until her voice becomes coarse. Like always the son come back from school later then when i return back from work (Thats how late he comes back) and sometimes he comes back even at 10pm and hes just only 13 years old. Usually will have shouting match between son and mother, luckily i bought noise cancellation headphones when the shouting begins. I pity both of them since the son kena fire quite teruk from the mom since she is the like those auntie once got small problem will TCSS, and mother has a "wild" child who doesnt listen and doesnt care the situation he is in since with him following his current behavior, sure become gangster one. Oledi training everyday come back very late, the kid got no cash, no handphone and yet can find something entertaining that he can stay outside till night time. Plus their house no internet or even computer. They have a tv but its in the moms room. Anybody want 2 hear their shouting match? This post has been edited by crapp0: Aug 22 2009, 03:31 PM |

QUOTE(kockroach @ Aug 24 2009, 09:59 AM) You gal or guy? Coz i work in marine industry, usually most girls work in planning department, so you wear coveralls but rarely go outside to do survey, just do human resource planning. Since marine industry not conducive for ladies, plus the toilets all cater for men so thats why they prefer not to have girls onsite.Like this you do a desk job. Can you tahan men BO's of different nationality all day? Coz confirm you will encounter, especially the indians. |

QUOTE(mercury8400 @ Aug 26 2009, 11:46 AM) Thanks for all the feedback. Certain ppl. One more point of contention is that i realise my collegues from singapore are rather "by the book" kinda people. (in other words "law-by-law", kayu, straight). This is not really a drawback for me considering we, malaysian believe laws are only adhered to when there are policeman around( how many of us could honestly say we have never done jaywalking, jumping queue, ran the red lights etc in malaysia). Is this generally true or just certain people?? If they really did follow the law, they wouldnt be speeding since they follow the law, it cant just apply to their laws but respecting malaysia's law as well. When u see singapore car in malaysia, they will break it like jump queue and speeding. But most of the time, if they do break the law, its usually white collar since they will break it when there is an attractive return on their law breaking investment. Like that woman who got away with money from the embassy or lawyers which take clients money and then vanish if the amount is substantial enough, and all of that happen in socialist singapore. QUOTE(seantang @ Sep 3 2009, 11:46 AM) I don't think Sg customs will check the contents of everybody's laptop. Not even the Americans and Aussies do that (and they seem to be the ones doing it the most). If they did that, they'd be clearing very few people each day since you'd have to wait for boot up, open file manager, low battery look for power socket etc. America going to implement checks on laptops as well as removable storage devices like aussie, but unlike aussie where they check mostly for child porn, i think they also checking for illegal software. But if somebody tipped them off that you have something-something in your laptop, they'll definitely check you. Having said that, I have encrypted my laptop and all my memory cards, and removed all the something-somethings from my mobile phones. Not many ppl i know actually encrypt their laptop hdd. If you use TPM laptop encryption, you can do a cold boot attack to get the encryption key. Success rate varies btw for this kind of attack. You must be quite out there if you encrypt your whole laptop as well as all of your memory cards for personal use. Added on September 3, 2009, 1:42 pm QUOTE(precursor80 @ Sep 3 2009, 12:51 PM) I also use truecrypt. I heard from defcon that either the CIA or NSA is implementing a method to crack nearly all standards or encryption which is used by truecrypt or other open encryption standards like military grade AES 256 bit, blowfish and twofish since terrorist are also using encryption. Plus wont the authorities, if they suspect you have illegal items which is encrypted would detain you until a) you give them the decryption code b) you stay in detention until they decrypt your files (long long wait for you) If i were the authorities, option 2 would be better since nobody can last long enough in detention and would spill the beans. QUOTE(seantang @ Sep 3 2009, 03:20 PM) I created a large encrypted file on my hdd and store my personal stuff in there. Same thing for my memory cards which are full of mp3s. Like that no prob if the ppl at customs dont have any computer forensics tools. Anyway, American or Aussie customs can probably crack the encryption if they want to employ the resources, but my concern is not US or Aust customs. It's the Singaporean authorities. They are pretty hands off about contrabrand like mp3s, movies etc AS LONG AS you don't make it a problem for them. ie. Leave the evidence in plain sight, so much so that if they don't take action when they can plainly see it, they are neglecting their duties. For eg. the police don't investigate to find out who downloads mp3 or movies. The rights owner has to take the trouble to find out who they are and report their addresses to the police. They don't go looking for people who piggyback personal LAN, but when someone did it in the void deck and people walking past reported him - they had to take action. So for me, my thinking is that if someone needs to look at my hdd or memory cards for some reason, all they see is one big page file or archive file, and not lots and lots of mp3 files staring at them in the face. |

QUOTE(lled1975 @ Sep 7 2009, 01:11 AM) good topic, actually we as malaysian that work in Singapore, are we given equal opportunities ? if work is ok, then how about social-wise? like lepak or gathering ? malaysian and singaporean very similiar so i see little to no diff. The ppl singaporean will look down upon or wont give equal opportunities are those "real" foreigners like the indian nationals, the banglas, the thais, burmese and even the china ppl.so far i heard from my friend is ok, but his working kind of lower job, like computer operator which singaporean dint want to work.... social-wise he said he never mixed much.. and prefer to stay at home.. so for those who already there at Singapore, can tell us what is it all about there? thanks! Of all the races, currently the china ppl are given quite alot of leeway when entering singapore, more so then any other race since i think they want 2 benefit from china enconomy but flooding singapore with china immigrants, i am not so sure about this. I think is a few years time can declare singapore like unofficial territory of china, like hong kong. Everywhere you go, got more china then singapore or malaysian combined. But some singaporeans, especially men like china ppl, especially the study mama. HK oledi flooded with china ppl, my bro recently went there at disney land, might as well call it ching chong land, all the china ppl talk very loud, shouting and bringing their bad habits aka spitting indiscriminately. Becareful since you leg might get someones spit. This post has been edited by crapp0: Sep 7 2009, 10:08 AM |

QUOTE(kaikeikan @ Sep 7 2009, 01:37 PM) Hey thanks for the reply!! They do this to get into your pants. Heard of of the singapore 5 C's, you can add a sixth to it.I started reading the thread from the last page so i didn't know u were being sarcastic in that post, anyway i'm so glad that those nasty things didn't really happen on you! But if it did, again my sympathy! I actually met and mixed with a few singaporeans before and they are just like what you've said, normal and same as malaysian from the outside, unlike the japanese, they are some really different folks, in a good way though, at least to me. The singaporeans i met were some nice guys who took me to nice dinner and drinks so i thought it was just some normal guy's trick to get a girl and that i won't be taken seriously. But so far leh, i find them some very nice ppl to hang out with, but then again i thought it's probably a guy and a chick thing. And like what you've said, true enough, i don't have a friend close enough to update his/her working life in singapore, it's all hear say. What prompted me to think that singaporeans treat us like second class citizens was due to the fact that i always look down on the average malaysians, including myself. So i was thinking that i'm not good enough for the singaporeans so it's right for them to treat themselves higher above us,i'm terrible right. That's y i wanted to ask you if it's that bad, a hardworking malaysian will never rise together with singaporeans cause i actually believed in what u said and it's unbelievable i was kind enough to write something for a depressed forum-er Okayla,i'll just do my part and get some achievement in malaysia only then i dream of working there~ Malaysian wont coz either their stingy, not worth the time or just dont have the money to go out unless its beer or hard liquor for football. QUOTE(lled1975 @ Sep 7 2009, 03:14 PM) from what i read, u mean malaysian actually are given better treatment above indian nationals, banglas, thai and burmese? well. that is a good news .. That depends on an individual.so far i heard quite positive comments about singapore from our own malaysian working there.. how about job-wise, usually u guys job hopping or stay loyal to a company? But most companies would prefer someone who is loyal to the company compared to a fella who come into the company, work a few months then just quit. Its a waste for companies time to train this kind of person, not to mention it would a waste of the employee's time as well. But thats another question. So far most companies do take for granted foreigners, especially maids and service staff. I noticed at some learning institutes, the foreigners are made to work 12 hours a day, and thats just standard hours, no OT rate. Becoz of this unfair treatment, ppl tend to resign and job hop, so the cycle cont since companies introduce these rules coz they dont want ppl to leave, but its the very policies they implement which "make" ppl want 2 leave. Like chicken and egg story. |
