In the midst of staying in SG, our motherland Msia is in a mess just because of a word "Allah". What kind of retards is this?

Helicopters can be seen on the sky even during night time, police patrols sirens can be heard all over the streets, pastors are being manheld and churches are touched.

So now, who still believe in 1Malaysia? No wonder more and more Chinese especially are migrating overseas such as Singapore to look for the better living.

Have you told Hertz, Avis and Mayflower that when they rent their MY registered cars to SG licence holders?
*
It is legal to drive MY cars in MY with a SG licence. However vice versa, it is illegal to drive SG cars in SG with a MY licence.

I went for interview today and I got the job. The employer will produce the work permit for me next week and i'll start working on early of Feb. But my concern is that they told me they only able to produce work permit for me but not S pass even though i got a Degree but what i'll be working as is not relevant with the field of study. Another thing is that my basic salary is lower than $1800, thus i'll be working under work permit. But my main concern is how long will it takes for me to become a SPR? Can anyone give me some advises?

May I know ur exact pay and position?
Nowadays degree holders only offered below $1,800? May I know ur profession and field of study?

For those Malaysians getting below $1,800 despite having a degree, I think this is the only disadvantage.

Unlike Indonesians degree holders, the employer must pay $1,800 minimum to hire them. Otherwise, the employer can be issued a huge penalty for not complying with this rule by the MOM.

So, all my Indonesian staff is getting $1,800 min whereas my Malaysians staff is getting only somewhere within $1,500 to $1,700. I mean by comparing a fresh grat Indonesian Accounts Exec with Malaysian Accounts Exec in my dept.

omg~ that means that indons are even better than malaysians? thats a total rip off dude...

But as far as job opportunities is concern, Malaysians are easier to secure a job than Indonesians as Singaporeans feels that Malaysians are more trustworthy than Indons or a China Chinese.

Singapore government is very smart indeed. If an employer is willing to fork out $1,800 to hire an Indon instead of forking out $1,600 to hire a Malaysian, that's mean that the Indon must be very capable.

And bcos Singapore depends very much on foreign talents, so for those Indon that cannot obtain a $1,800 min (which means they are no capable enough).. they must pulang kampung, only those talented and capable Indons are invited to stay and work in Singapore.

For application of credit cards, the min salary is $60K pa for either EP, S Pass or foreigners. No exceptions.

This is a strict measure by the MAS to minimise bankrupts for non-PR and Singaporeans. Besides, this is to ensure nobody play a fool by swapping the cards and then fled to Malaysia without paying their debts.

So, if you see anyone using a credit card and he/she is a non-PR or non-Singaporean. Then you will know his/her income is at least $5K per month.

Yup, for credit card application, you need a minimum of S$60k per annum for non-PR otherwise, place a deposit of S$20k as lien (collateral) with the bank (not-withdrawable).
*
Fortunately, there is a promotion for Stand Chart last year where this bank lower its requirement to only $55K for non-PR and I have applied for it.

Those who is interested can always check their promotions booths (usually in MRT booths). I applied it in Douby Gaught MRT Station.

hi everybody....i just got myself a job offer at orchard road....as far as i know the rental rate at the area is very expensive....any recommendation for a place to stay for a couple?small room is ok cos trying to save money here....izzit possible to find a room by the rate of sgd400 for such requirement?
*
nowadays for $400 a room is difficult to find unless u intend to stay abit far from the city such as in punggol, woodlands, kranji or joo koon area.

I suggest u increase ur budget to $600 for a standard non-aircon room nearer to the city.

OK, may i know who here came from KL?

I feel that many Malaysians who work in Spore usually came from rural areas in Malaysia such as Alor Setar, Sandakan, Sibu, Gopeng, Sungai Petani, Muar, Bahau etc.

So far, I see very very few Malaysians came from KL, Selangor or Penang. Why ya?

passion? i can passion in all kinds of industry..haha...

just curious $1600 with degree holder ....sounds like not so good...
but so far i only received 1 offer and duno whether i should wait until new year or not~~~
*
Do you have any commitments? Otherwise, why not wait until March or April 2010 when the job market in SG begins to soar and escalate?

And $1,600 i reckon is a bit low end. Degree holders should request for at least $1,800 to $2,000.

I feel no point bringing your whole family to SG. Malaysia is still a good place to live in. (I project 10 years for our country to change).
Some even renounce their Malaysia citizenship, omg..

SG is too small to be exploited further and morever it is located in a unsettled region. On one fine day, SG will be forced to rejoin Malaysia on Malaysia's terms (not even a merger can be negotiated). Cities located along the Strait of Malacca can one day overtake Singapore as a regional and international harbour. Even worse, if the Segenting Kra Canal is approved, Nah... then SG economy will be faltered forever and forever.

For me, I would rather opt for a flight to Kelantan.

By taking a train to Kelantan, it would take me ages to reach there despite the fare being few hundreds bucks cheaper compare by taking a flight.

i am riding in singapore.

i dont think own a car here worth the price.
about 20K COE + 30 Car + 30k(parking of 300/month)= 10 year of  car.
80K for 10 year, you can take about 30-50 dollar taxi per day.
*
It all depends.

1st
Depends whether wat u think is worthwhile. A car costs cheaper in SG than in Msia even after COE. (Compare dollar to dollar)

2nd
Depends what profession are u in. If u are a businessman, small entrepenuer or a manager in SG, a car carries pretigious and symbolises luxury.
On the other hand, if u r just a junior auditor for instance, car is not necessary, MRT is a better choice.

3rd
Depends whether u have a family or not? Dun expect ppl will give up their seats to ur pregnant wife or ur kindergarden children during a MRT ride from Pasir Ris to Joo Koon for example. So, a car is a must and may be a huge burden for some couples.

I wonder what is the chance of getting PR nowadays ~ must be real tough luck, right?
*
Ya tough. My cousin who is a financial analyst and draws a monthly salary of $5K got rejected of a PR. He has been working here for 9 months.

I believe PR application is for those who draw more than $5K for now.

Utility rooms are always small. The problem with renting with a landlord, while staying with the landlord is if there is a disagreement, then you gotta leave and you would have wasted your agent money as well as have to spend time to move your items as well as finding a new place.

Keppel tuas bonus for 2009 which is given out the subsequent year, is 9 months across the board except for upper management where their bonus is calculated with a diff rate.

I know a project supervisor over there who earning around 4-5k. So his bonus is nearly 50K. One lump sum you can go buy a car in malaysia.

Sembawang shipyard is around 7-8 months for engineers, as far as i have heard.

Walamak... 8-9 mths bonus??

Wakau, i wanna join them too..
