Just for the sake of clarification, assuming I'll be arriving at Changi airport from Australia before crossing the causeway back to JB on the same day, would I have any issues or whatsoever at Woodlands checkpoint with the aforementioned duty-free hard liquor (assuming I have no problems clearing the custom at Changi)? This is my first time coming back via Singapore so I'm kind of not too sure how it works there.

Also, I would appreciate if anyone is kind enough to give some information on how strict is the Singaporean Custom in the airport, as in would they check your bags thoroughly like what the Aussie do?
*
It will be on a random basis. If you flight is the selected one, once you walk out from the deck, the officer will screen your belongings thoroughly (examine everything from A to Z). BTW, what airline is that? AFAIK, SQ, Qantas will always kena.. Airasia just ocassionally.

So u mean u going to bring the hard liquor to Malaysia from Australia thru Singapore??
You should worry about Malaysia custom right?
Singapore custom check your baggage with the X-ray when you coming into Singapore, but not when you are going out.
Malaysia custom only allow you to buy 1 L of duty free liquor, when you arrive by AIR. I don think you get Duty free Liquor when you going into Malaysia by bus / car.. Ppl would hide inside their bag, and whether they will check your bag or not.. is depend on your luck.
*
On top of that, there is one trick if you use the 2nd link... enter the 2nd link during lunch time or dinner time, normally they will be too lazy to check your bags and will let you go.
Even if they scan your bags, their eyes will not be on the monitoring screen and chatting, playing on his hp etc... this is what i observe. So, you are quite safe.

I've been to JB only once for shopping/makan/jalan-jalan. It was very early on after I came to Singapore... when someone told me it made sense to earn in SG and spend in JB.

Seriously, I felt in JB exactly what I feel in Jakarta or Manila. That it's not very safe to look & act like a foreigner, to have any money in your pocket and walking around without a local companion. Just feels like everyone's either going to rob me or stab me... or both.

I have never been back since, and never intend to go back. JB may be part of Malaysia, but it feels like a mix between a cowboy town and an overcrowded slum, sprinkled with some fancy new buildings.
*
Precisely, not only JB. Even KL is the similar to Jakarta those kind of places. I have been to JKT countless times.
Take a walk in Kota Raya or Pudu Raya, you may feel like you will be robbed. Rubbish is everywhere.
Beggers, people loitering here and there doing nothing useful, spliting on the floor, smoking everywhere, motorists beating the red lights etc makes me feel that they are so uncivilised and uneducated.
I can tell u it is exactly the same as in the JKT city.
I must say that even Bangkok today is by far more advance than KL. Their city is so clean, ppl are so polite and friendly, infrasturcture and public transport are so more efficient than KL.

Hi, I wanna ask if you guys intend to go to KL or Ipoh, would you prefer to take a bus or plane?

If by plane, Airasia, Tiger or Jetstar?

I calculated the duration of both choices, actually, there are almost the same.

If you're going to Ipoh, only Firefly flies direct from SIN to IPH.

I've tried flying SIN-KUL LCCT and take the coach from LCCT to Ipoh... torture. I rather pay a bit more and fly direct.

These days, I take the 2.30pm flight from SIN Budget Terminal on Friday and touch down in IPH at 4pm. Back home, showered and ready for action at 4.30pm. It's great.

What plane model is that? Izit Fokker-50? or similar to Airasia A320 model?

May I know the Malaysian Embassy (Malaysian High Commission) is located at Jervois Road or Hill Street?

I have tried to Googled, but some stated at Jervois Road and some stated at Hill Street.

I have already frustrated with the updates on Malaysian and Government websites.

I just wanna share with you guys on my trip to renew my passport this morning.

Time for submission of application: 8.00am to 11.30am
Time for collection of passport: 2.30pm to 4.15pm

During this peak season month, the embassy will issue 160 queue numbers, 30 more than normal months.

The embassy will only process 32 pages passport. No 64 pages passport will be entertained.

The price is $124.

For passport photo, it will be $6 for 4 pcs of photos. However, only 2 photos are required to be submitted.

I arrived there at 8.15am this morning and obtained the queue number of 71.

Live comfortably... ok.

Rental: 1500 for a 2 bedroom HDB, but with 2 kids, you'd probably want 3 bedrooms, so 1800-2000 depending location. If you want the facilities like a pool & gym, 2500 or so for private condo.

Utilities: 200 per month for electricity, water and gas. And 300 for 2 phone lines, 1 home broadband and cable tv.

Food: family of 4... let's say, 300 a week on groceries and 2 nice dinners on the weekend for 150 per dinner. So, around 1800... let's say 2000 including treats and special events etc.

Transport: with 2 kids and a comfy lifestyle, you need a car. Take a reliable Korean 1.6L with a 5 year loan, let's say 1500 per month, all inclusive ie. instalment, road tax, insurance, ERP, petrol, maintenance and parking.

Shopping.... entirely up to you lah. But let's say 500 per month for toiletries, cosmetics, health supplements, diapers whatever. And another 500-1000 for gadgets, laptops, clothes, shoes, handbags, toys, movies, theme parks etc.

Then add another 200-300 a month towards a sinking fund for any emergencies, large purchases, holidays, school excursions etc.

So, all in all... around 7K a month. Pretty realistic, I think. If your kids go to private schools, then another 1500-2500 per month each.
So in SG, you may live comfortably with $7K... I highly doubt so if you can enjoy all these stuffs in KL for RM7K.

One of my fren is working at Tuas and stay at Pasir Ris.
He travels to and fro everyday for 2 years. However, he is still satisfied with his traveling time, ie 1.5 hrs as compared when he is working in KL when the jam is so terrible.

Wanna ask you guys here. My company is giving free half day to all staff on New Year Eve.

However, izit a norm here in SG that I cant take half day leave on New Year Eve? In other words, I must take a full day leave if I wanted to enjoy a full day leave on New Year Eve?
