Anybody know what may be the outcome if..

Say one fella send in resignation letter giving 1 month, the boss ask the fella to postpone his resignation to 2 month while sending him on special assignment in order to try to convince him to stay, the boss by asking him to extend his resignation in order to let him think about it doesnt really accept his letter of resignation.

But the fella dont care about the offer and left according to the letter of resignation and the company has yet to accept his letter of resignation or even verbally agree to it and his permit to the company is still valid for another year.

Here is the catch... if you send resignation letter, the boss must take it, unless he returned to you and you keep it. If he take it and it is consider accepted.
If he dun wanna take and just leave it on his desk also consider already.

Singapore Employeement say the boss must take the resignation letter.

verbal agreement to entend the resignation not really use. it just matter of trust between boss and employee.

Well if he din clear thing up with the boss and the boss does not cancel the permit. he will have lots of trouble getting permit for another company.

But food in Singapore is terible or maybe because i am from penang. I cant really find good food here.. any place to recomend ?
*
So isnt there a contradiction if say the fella send in his resignation letter but the boss wont even touch it, but according to singapore employment, the boss has to take it? Or is that in the physical sense?

The fella couldnt be bothered, he just send in his letter, wait for the time and left according to his letter, i believe that the boss of that company didnt cancel the permit, will have to ask another fren about that.

If the boss didnt accept and didnt cancel the permit, whats the worst that can happen, assuming the fella doesnt want 2 work in singapore, ever. Will his name be in a blacklist in mom?

Also, i know a guy who used to work here and then got kicked out due to insorbordination, when the guy left, he didnt pay his telephone bills to the point that multiple lawyer letters have been sent to his old residency. Now that he's back with a job in IR, he should be in the clear since due payments of services like mobiles services doesnt seem to be updated to MOM. If not he wouldnt be able to get a job here again.

No, I stay in bishan, bubble tea lover here and I have a bubble tea stall back in kl but hv since closed down. thats y i alw hunt for good bubble tea around singapore. sigh, what to eat tonight!
*
Oh bishan, then do you frequently goto toa payoh? Coz my workplace is around the bishan area.

All the rich fella stay in this prime location which was once a cemetery. The rental also quite ex.

I know theres one chicken rice stall near the bus station which isnt that bad, their chicken is kept in ice water or something to make it juicy, but i like the sauces and the rice, the chicken not so much, But the portion they give you is worth the money, usually i cant finish it all.

I generally find that regardless of where your from malaysia, singapore hawker food in general are just sub-standard compared to malaysia. Oddly enough, the stalls run by malaysians, especially seafood restaurants are quite good. The china ones are crap since they follow their native land, which is mainly very oily and very salty.

MOM says:
Rejection of Employee's Resignation

An employer cannot reject an employee's resignation. The employee has the right to resign at any time by serving the required notice or by compensating the employer salary in-lieu of notice.  Failure of the employer to allow an employee to leave his service is an offence.  The employer shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding $5,000 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding six months or to both.

------------------------------------------------
I still recommend that fella to clear everything about the work permit with MOM before he leave singapore. I dont know the process but I know it is very troublesome.

If you leave the all the bill unsettle, one day all this going to come back to you. Eg. Malaysia Gov work with Sg Gov to blacklist.
U will not get any loan for car or house in future.

In Malaysia, people used to ignore credit card bill and jump to another bank. now it all intergrated. one bank blacklist your.. all the bank will know
*
Just had a chat with the fellas colleague, seems that the boss wants to screw with the fella so he didnt cancel the permit. Usually banks have a higher authority then service providers. But it seems that its ok since like i said the other guy is already working in singapore again eventhough he has outstanding mobile bills.

To mobile company. it not really much lost to them.. they just add the interst every month and send you lawyer letter(and bill you for the lawyer letter).
until one day it reach a certain limit and they will obtain arrest warranty. You can continue your degree in Singapore jail.
*

Degrees are of course recognised.

However, whether anyone wants to employ an ex-con is a totally different matter.
*
Integrated resorts wont. Thats why they do a background check on you b4 they put you in the shortlist. I wonder if their records also hold ex-con from neighboring countries? Then you can use that loophole to your advantage.

I dont think the degree are from recognized schools like ngee ann or NUS.

Yeah, Kim San Leng, used to eat there quite often when I was staying around St 13. but ever since I moved to St 24 and my bf got a bike we try avoid eating at Bishan except for J8 food court. But the queue at the chicken rice stall is mad long especially dinner time.

I go TPY for my monthly facial treatment tongue.gif But I dont think there is anything nice to eat there, I can be wrong.
*
Your place new the new condo that their building right? or is it presidential hdb suite or something like that. I am sure those condo are priced pretty high due to location and area of bishan. I usually go to the food court nearby to eat, most of the food also forgettable. Just to fill stomach.

I wonder what you guys think is a reasonable amount of time to travel between work and residential area?

Do you think its reasonable if say you work in ang mo kio or bishan and your residential place is at bedok?

my reasonable residential place must be not more than 5 station away and must be on the same line (NSL, NEL, EWL or CCL). so i dun have to switch train.
*
Wow, thats close. As long as it doesnt exceed more then 40 min i'm still ok with it.

Me stay in opp Yio Chu Kang MRT, then work at Chai Chee (between Bedok & Kembangan), for me is reasonable caused staying with relative. If not with relative, I would prefer not more than 6 mrt station, on the same line.
*
When the circle line open at payalebar, then even better for you.

*
Why the fella never mentioned that he dont want the job since not near mrt?

So nice you have lunch with boss, usually ppl dont want 2 eat with boss. Unless he's paying of course.

But still have to consider the time consumed in the interchange itself, e.g bishan and payar lebar. hehe.
*
That one nothing compared to the additional time you spend going through city hall. Even more jam.

Going through an interchange take about 2 stations worth of your time at most.

I prefer to drive in singapore rather then have a driver. Not like distance is a prob in singapore. unlike malaysia which has a highway, then i'll get a driver.

Anybody interested in attending a free course on juniper ex-series ethernet switches.

I was given the opportunity but unfortunately i have little to no knowledge about juniper routers/switches and this course is for intermediate to experienced users on juniper networks.

I don't like driving in Singapore. Too many traffic lights, traffic cameras and pedestrians crossing the road expecting right of way. It's a frustrating drive. I luv driving in Malaysia. Can go fast and go hard.
*
Depends on people. I prefer a smooth relaxing ride while listening to jamiroquai or hotel jazz music. The tune at mandarin oriental in KL also not bad as easy listening.

Just for your information, Singaporeans prefer Malaysian (especially non-malay) as their foreign worker compare to other nationality because of the similar culture and language we can communicate with each other well. in my opinion, if they were to cut down foreign workers, they will start on cutting down PRC, pinoy and indon 1st. Malaysian would be their last choice.
*
How about taiwanese or hong kees? Their close to malaysians right, especially the malaysian chinese. More cultured then their common PRC counterparts.

There is no massive influx of hong kongers or taiwanese into Singapore as both Hong Kong and Taiwan can match or even exceed Singapore in terms of economic performance and standard of living.  Moving from one crowded island to another does not make sense.

OTOH, Chinese Malaysians have many reasons to work and bring up their families in Singapore.  If I was Lee Kuan Yew, I would aggressively recruit even more Chinese Malaysians to move stakes to Singapore to make up for the declining birth rate in the little red dot.
*
I believe that LKY has that covered, but not with with malaysians but PRC. So many stories i hear that better qualified foreigners are being bypassed for PRC's. Like they say, china is the future.

Your friends could be smoking something quite strong leh.

PRs don't get to vote in elections. Citizens vote in elections. And citizens always complain that PRs take away their jobs. Do you think the govt will approve more or less PRs near to an election, if they want to get citizens to vote for them?
*
I think whats he's getting at is, running up to during the election,, the government will appease the people by demonstrating that they care about citizens and wont increase quota of PRs. Only to increase it after getting their mandate from the election. Unlike malaysia, singapore political landscape is a necessary evil with no alternatives.

People will just curse LKY under their breath and reluctantly go with it.

Unfortunately for Singapore, most of the PRCs who do venture there are not the highly educated and qualified types but rather the blue collar workers.

Anybody read the straits times last week where the demographic of china's netizen are under 35, mainly use the net to play games and are not highly educated as well as from the lower income group.

I guess china internet access must be quite affordable if the lower income group can fork out money to go online.

That would be great for Singapore and utterly devastating to Malaysia's economy.

The irony of the current migration trends for Malaysia is that the Ketuanan folks are actually elated that highly skilled Chinese Malaysians are leaving the country in droves - that's an outflow of talent and $$$.

They'll manage. Umno will manage it right into the ground that is.
